I dunno, I think part of it is because a lot of us have grown up, too. I mean, I remember when I was younger, when I saw the guys, I didn't think, "Man, he's all 'roided up!" and seeing them lay out a guy seemed much more painful. Nowadays, with probably at least 10 years under my belt and getting laid out a few times playing football, the zing's kinda lost.

I dunno, maybe they'll improve in performance with a few more shows under their belt and dispel some of the jitters. A lot of hype has been put into this, after all. I do hope it keeps going, even if things get shaken up (new gladiators, new hosts, new events, whatever).

Kinda feel bad for the marine chick busting her head open. Probably would've won if she wasn't fighting off a likely concussion.

You could tell that NBC rushed this show just to get it out there because of the writer's strike. The camera work is sloppy at best, the announcer sucks, and I completely resent that the instant replays are brought to you by Subway, let alone any company. Pretty soon every square inch of this television show is going to be whored out to advertisers.

"The Eliminator, brought to you by Exlax."

Add that in to the gladiators being completely unprepared. They were getting completely burned by some of the competitors.

Fuck you NBC. Bring back Journeyman.

You know, along those lines, something I really hate about TV now is how they do advertising during whatever you're watching. Like, I was watching USA or something, just because I saw some movie was on that I hadn't seen in a long time, and all of the sudden, half the screen got blacked out by this moving advertisement for some TV show that's coming on in the future.

What's worse, it was during a scene with subtitles! Cable TV has gotten ridiculous. I'm pretty much bound to only watch HBO now.

Apparently I was alone in this, but I had a great time watching it. (Granted, we were so high that I'm sure infomercials would've been entertaining...) The interviews/comments were ridiculously cheesy and annoying, but how can you not like seeing Crush and Venom tossing other women around on a huge, padded pyramid? Or the annoying marine bitch getting her shit messed up at the end? Also, I thought the firefighter guy was pretty impressive; his performance in Hit and Run was Sportscenter-worthy, lol. I suppose the fact that this generation of American Gladiators is in high definition helps when a few of the girls (both gladiators and contenders) had some pretty stellar bodies in my opinion. '-';

btw, I'm pretty sure that chick who got knocked out in the first event tore her ACL. I tore mine and the way her knee gave out and swelled up like that was pretty much how I felt.

It's still very painful for me to watch ACL injuries occur on television (particularly during football games). I cringe every time. Moreso because I know what it feels like, and know the amount of rehab these people have to look forward to.

I think this show is good for mindless watching, the announcers are annoying but whatever. Gina Carano (Crush) is definitely the best looking one.

Overall verdict, this show is awesome in a pathetic way. It's so bad, you can't help but watch it to see what will happen next. The first two women from the first episode on sunday, my god watching them on the eliminator was making me cry from laughter. That one girl just laying there clutching for dear life after falling 3 times, so much win.
