EDIT: That was a really great game though. I was anticipating a Colts blow out, figuring I would have a couple extra hours in my afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised by a fantastic football game.

I sort of wish I hadn't spent my money on Sox spring training tickets, and plane tickets to Seattle to see the Sox in May. I hear Arizona is nice in February.

Ok, last week, after Ahmad Bradshaw was extremely effective, I got to thinking: is the Giants run offense the most underrated in the NFL? Derrick Ward, Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw -- they just churned out yards at will all year -- did any RB-tandem have more 100-yard games this year?

As an Eagles fan, I hate admitting it, but the Giants have a damn good offensive line, especially when it comes to running the ball. Ahmad Bradshaw is good, so is Derrick Ward, and Jacobs is a monster -- but come on, you have to give a lot of that credit to the o-line just manhandling defenses.

I don't know, both Ward and Bradshaw have been stellar given the opportunity -- I will say this, Ryan Grant has excellent vision (he breaks these long runs like none other). I don't know though -- I haven't seen his effectiveness after contact, unlike Ward and Bradshaw. I think he's more effective in the system that GB employs, but it's so hard to compare running backs.

I say this all with the utmost respect to Ryan Grant. BTW, why the hell wouldn't the Packers put Grant in the end of the last game of the season, just so he could hit 1000 yards? I'd do that if I were them =\

They were trying to get him 1000 - there was an article about it the day of the game in the Capitol Times, where they interviewed all the linemen who were like "we gotta get him 102 in the first half because they'll pull him after that - we gotta make it happen!"

He got a stinger halfway through the 2nd quarter though, so they shut him down, which makes sense. The 202 yards and 3 TDs yesterday makes up for it IMO

I also agree that Grant is great because he fits in the Packers zone-blocking run game so well. Hit the hole fast, look for the cutback if it's sealed, break it long.

The only thing Ryan Grant has is awesome vision and great break away speed. He's not an every down back and he's not that elusive. He runs straight up and down.

Ahmad Bradshaw has better vision and way more elusiveness. Ward is a better everydown back, tough, WAY better hands, and he's had a higher YPG average when healthy. Jacobs averaged the same yards per carry as Ryan Grant yet had 30 more yards a game this season. In 11 games (missed 5 due to injury), Jacobs still got more yards than Ryan Grant.

Which is awesome. But you can't say because of that games he's all of a sudden great. That O-line played really well wait no, extremely well, and under those conditions just about anyone can have a career day.
