First off, please explain how having the exact same second best season (IN TD'S ONLY) somehow makes Moss better? And we've explained repeatedly how much better in every aspect of play Rice really is, you're just ignoring it because moss had 1 good year.

Also, Moss isn't retarded either. The only way he's staying in NE is if he takes massively less money than he's worth, he's going to take a big fat contract from whoever will give it to him and go scrub it up for a few years before he retires.

Edit: And MJ is way more all around player than Wilt was. MJ was good at everything, he's won defensive player of the year+scoring champion way more times than Wilt did. Chamberlain isn't even regarded as the best center of all time, he was just known as the most dominant.
Yeah, Jordan won defensive player of the year a whopping once. And I don't believe Jordan ever lead the league in anything other than scoring. Certainly not 3 things in the same damn year. Let alone the 4 Chamberlain managed to pull off.

I really love how you're arguing that Randy Moss as a 1 trick pony is somehow better than Jerry Rice, then trying to say Wilt Chamberlain sucks because he's a "one trick pony" when he's absolutely not.

Seriously you're just making yourself look stupid at this point.

Sorry, but I'd pick Moss in his prime over Rice in his prime any day. That man can come down with catches that Rice couldn't ever dream of grabbing.

Rice enjoyed an insanely long career. If Moss plays just as long he'll probably surpass Rice's numbers.

Can we please show a highlight reel of Rice's amazing catches, because ESPN is diluting dumb people by repeatedly showing Moss catching a couple of one-handed grabs. We haven't even delved into Rice's post season career. How's Moss doing in the post season on the greatest team ever that he's solely responsibe for?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=uWFd2eT1P4E First 2 minutes is him fucking up. Last 3 is full of catches every bit as special as anything Randy Moss ever made.

I'll add a few more in a bit.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 2540433334 This one has a few of him outrunning db's by like 10 yards over a 40 yard distance and stuff.

SD gave themselves great chances to win the game but they couldn't get it done in the red zone. You gotta think LDT could have helped them in that department. Rivers made a good go of it but you could see that his knee was hurting his roll outs and his ability to zing it into the end zone.

NE on the other hand has been incredibly lucky all year in regards to injuries. They have avoided key injuries and ran into teams that had key injuries. I wonder if their luck will hold out for one more game? I hope not.

The football gods wanted the Packers to win so bad but Favre said "fuck that." When he was scrambling around in overtime, I said, "Uh oh, he's gonna do his 'I"m Bret Favre' throw." All year long he was being praise for being under control but I knew it was the same Favre. You can't teach an old dog new tricks. GB should have run more though. Yes, Grant got stuffed but he has showed that if you keep going to him, he's bound to bust one out for a big gain. The Giants are good against the run but it still seemed like GB should have tried to run more.

Ward had 975 and Branch had 998. That stat is not only dumb, it's misleading. Both of those players are game changers for their respective teams. You need play makers to win in the playoffs. By saying there were no 1000 yard receivers on those teams you're implying that werent any seasoned playmakers at that position. That couldn't be any further from the truth, you know damn well that Branch and Ward were top 15 at their position. (at the time)

Maybe because Moss has done it more times than Jerry? Jerry Rice has scored 22 once and 17 once in his 20 year career. Moss has scored 17 TWICE and 23 within the first 10 years of his career. Randy isn't retiring, is he? What makes you think he can't score more? I never said Moss *is* better than Rice, i'm saying his 1 trick pony-ness is the reason why I like him better. Jerry Rice isn't Randy Moss dominant, and Randy Moss isn't Jerry Rice dominant. Just because I like one more than the other isn't retarded as they'll be regarded as the Wilt/MJ of their position.

I'm not taking anything away from Wilt, and i'm not taking anything away from MJ. I'm simply saying that when things are all said and done, Moss/Rice will be considered (easily above the rest) the 1-2 at the position, yet for completely different reasons. This is where the MJ/Wilt correlation comes in, as both of those players are the 1-2 in basketball yet had completely different play styles.

Yes, that's EXACTLY what i'm saying. WILT CHAMBERLAIN SUCKS GUYS! HE'S NOT EVEN THAT GOOD HE ONLY AVERAGED 50 A GAME!

Re: 2008 NFL Playoffs: Divisonal Round Picks *Playoffs!?*

Jerry Rice isn't Randy Moss Dominant? Thats true but you are basing your argument purely on his speed. The flip side is you can talk about Moss's inability to get open when not running deep or having a game with 15 catches. Moss isn't Rice dominant as in the fashion that Rice doesn't go consecutive weeks with 1 catch per game. Running a Fly pattern or a Deep or Skinny post is cake. James Jett caught more 60-70 yards TDs than Steve Largent and Fred Biletnikoff did but does that make him better? Simple answer, no.

Moss triumphs Rice in speed only, every other category is dominated by Rice, hands down. The TD record Moss broke, Rice did in TWELVE games in a strike shortened season. That is 6 games faster than it took Moss. I like Moss alot, but comparing him to Rice is the equivalent of comparing Manute Bol or Rik Smits to Wilt Chamberlain because they could shoot a jumper better than he could. It's preposterous.

    "Straight stats homey!"

Analogy Edit: Would you compare Ryan Leaf or Rick Mirer and their "Golden Arms" with people the likes of Unitas, Young or Tarkenton because they could throw farther? Do you remember the Ravens were enamored with Kyle Boller because at the combine he threw a 66 yard pass from his knees? How that working out for him? Statistics says that his arm is undoubtedly stronger (Speaking Purely distance wise) than Manning or Brady, therefore he is some how better or having the better career?

Moss can run a fly pattern like a motherfucker, how does this equate to him being better than Rice again?

Here is the Boller article and how he is sky rocketing up the charts before the 2003 draft!!
    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/1031084

My favorite Boller quote from a scout....
"This guy is like Midas," said one AFC assistant who attended the workout. "Everything he touches turns to gold."

Sorry, but Moss is in that same boat when compared to Rice.

We understand he did it in 12 games, but what people don't understand is that Jerry Rice never even came close to sniffing the record in the 19 other seasons he's played.

Jerry Rice has 1,549 regular season catches. 197 of those were for touchdowns. 1 out of every 8 of Jerry Rice's receptions were for touchdowns. Randy Moss has 774 career receptions with 124 TD's. Making his TD - reception ratio 1 for every 6. You can say Rice is the better route runner all you want, and you can say he's done more with the ball. But don't say Rice was the better scorer because he's simply not. You can't say Rice had the better hands when Moss does shit that no one has ever seen before.

I'm not going to say one is flat out better than the other, however, Moss is faster, has unbelievable hands, and scores more than Jerry Rice. (Arguably the 3 most important WR attributes) That is why I like him better.

Re: 2008 NFL Playoffs: Divisonal Round Picks *Playoffs!?*

I'm sorry, but Branch wasn't a top 15 WR when he won the MVP. He was an amazing product of Brady's magical arm. If you can not drop a pass in that offense, you can be successful. It doesn't take a whole lot of actual "playmaking". As far as having these great playmakers at the WR position, ask yourself how far the best receiving teams got in the postseason. I'm sorry, it doesn't take stellar 1000 yard wideouts to win chamionships. When the steelers won the SB, Ward had his lowest production in 5 years. And while he did play well in the superbowl, the other 3 games during that post season run weren't great, he certainly didn't elevate his team. With that said, WR play in the playoffs is overrated, just ask 12 of the top 15 receiving teams who either didn't make, or didn't win in the playoffs. Only seven of the 12 playoff teams had above average passing offenses, of those seven, 3 won a game.

I can show you atleast 5 balls that Moss has dropped in the Post season alone. Remember the wide open pass vs the Giants he muffed?

    hallothargudhandz!

Rice was probably before your time and you caught him on the down side of his career? There is no way that anyone that saw him play can say Moss is better than him, that is like kids today saying Lebron or Pierce is better than Jordan. A skewed opinion of a generation that does not know greatness. When Moss' career is all said and done he will not pass Rice's TD record.

Right. Thats why Moss is the record holder right? I like Moss too man, but damn. Lets not be blinded by a 1 catch for 15 yards per game receiver. Oh and one more thing, what is one thing Moss has done in a game that no one has ever seen? I grew up in the 80s, I saw Largent, Bavaro, Sharpe, Rice and all these guys in their prime.

    Inquiring minds want to know.

On average, one out of every 8 catches from Jerry Rice was a touchdown.

On average, one out of every 6 catches from Randy Moss is a touchdown.

Randy Moss owns the league record for Touchdowns in a season.

In Jerry Rice's 20 year career, he's caught 197 touchdown balls. In 10 years, Moss is at 124.

What else is Randy supposed to do? Jesus christ.

And I can counter this argument by asking what quarterbacks were on those teams? What quarterback was on Randy's team? What what? Daunte Culpepper isn't half the QB that Steve Young and Joe Montana were. Give Randy a good Qb and look at what he's doing, shattering the fucking record books.

And you of all people should know that Tom Brady is Joe Montana in a Patriots jersey. Brady is KNOWN for how well he spreads the ball.

I'm not saying he is, i'm saying that you guys aren't giving Moss the credit deserves simply because you're in love with everything Rice has done in his prolific career. The man breaks Rice's rediculous 22 TD record, averages more touchdowns, yet still isn't the better scorer? Come on now, lol.

The quarterback isn't the point. The routes of the west coast offense is the point. Yeah, 1 of 8 were touchdown passes...Bill Walsh was the fucking architect of the modern day west coast offense. I think it'd be quite obvious that Rice caught quite a few shorter routes.

    Exactly.

You say about we aren't giving Moss his due credit? We are giving him the same credit you are giving to the greatest motherfucking receiver of all time, Jerry Rice.
