EDIT: Also when the RDM decides to DS a CureIV or hell, just CureIV and dies that's not really a problem with the tanks or no Provoke, that's a problem with a RDM.

Sadly it's not quite as easy as that, when both tanks have had their hate wiped by charm, and the mages that had been curing/healing up to that point did not get charmed/hate wiped.

Sure, melee hits/damage are good for hate, but when LAC is running away from you after a mage, (darn that +12% movement speed) it's hard to land hits.

Using sam/war as tanks has resolved that for my group, as they have provoke.

It's a rare occurrence for us to have mages Jacked by LAC, yet our MNKs seem to have no trouble getting hate back.

MNK/NIN requires a lot less healing than SAM/WAR, so the mages have less hate built up that previously-charmed melees have to overcome.

And, like Aurik said, Stoneskin + Earth Staff is a helluva drug.

If you need more than 1-2 melee rounds to regain hate you're doing it wrong.

DS Cure IV when it starts charming tanks and kite until it gives up trying to kill me, this is the win plan.
