Okay, we missed each other by about a year. I quit around the end of October 2006.Originally Posted by Kiro

Edit: Also, I am now realizing that I've been talking to you like you were the OP. The OP isnt from SEA. XD I am a 'tard.
They don't have very many sushi places in "Your Mom" I guess. I went to Morgan's desk and she isn't there, so her reply is gonna be delayed I suppose.
She is probably busy making pasties.Originally Posted by Kiro

I've made sushi a few times, although I'm a complete amateur at it (i.e. I just looked up instructions on the internet and followed them). Is it as good as professionally made sushi in a restaurant? Of course not. It tastes decent enough and is about 5 times cheaper, though. It takes me a little over an hour to make it, but that's mostly due to the time it takes to cook the rice and then cool it off (I usually stick it in the freezer for a few minutes to get it down to room temperature; don't want to roll sushi with rice that's still hot). We usually make Philadelphia rolls: cucumber, avocado, salmon, and a little bit of cream cheese.
I wish I lived somewhere that I could get sushi more often. Where I am it's more of a luxury food and it's way overpriced. But I love it so much.
I make sushi every few weeks at the apartment for roommates and myself, haven't gotten a thumbs down yet.
I make the easy stuff though, California Rolls and Salmon Rolls. . .
If you do try this, I would suggest something easy like california rolls with the nori on the outside. We make this every once in a while from cheap ingredients and it makes a good snack. Typical grocery store packaged crab meat, nori and japanese rice from an import store down town. Obviously its nothing close to what you'd get in a real sushi bar, but its fun.
The hardest part always seems to be getting the rice right. Its always too sticky or not sticky enough or whatever.
Make sure you buy halfway decent nori. Bad nori is chewy and gross and makes me gag![]()
My family goes to the Redmond Todai for holidays. There's also a sushi place in redmond near one of the theaters (Bella Bottega I think it's called?). I think it replaced Samurai Sam's, which was one of my favorite places to go to during HS...but I guess a sushi place replacing it isn't too badOriginally Posted by Ishido
Conveyerbelt style sushi place, btw.
I live in Ft Myers FL. There's a place called Origami's which is freakin amazing, but for 2 ppl it was like 56$... So yeah... Although I ordered a special and we had an apptizer.
Where I live now, there's not sushi to be found anywhere!!! ; ; Sadly, I'm in the middle of nowhere and a 2+ hour drive to the nearest city for food isn't so feasible when I can't drive myself, and there are no public transportation besides the once-a-day 4-hour local bus trip. >.< Stupid middle of nowhere.Originally Posted by Maguspk

Its called Marinepolis Sushiland, and its okay. Its more or less sort of a "chain," I think someone mentioned a sushi place on Queen Anne and that would also be Sushiland. They also have a place in downtown Bellevue, and one in Southcenter. Its a good place to get cheap decent tasting sushi. Although, its pretty odd entering and seeing a Mexican dude yell "Irrashaimase!" at you (no offense to anyone, lol).Originally Posted by Foof
edit: they also do a "challenge" thing where if you eat 30 or more plates in 90minutes, you get a free tshirt (lol), and there's other shit if you manage to top the record (which is 50-something plates last time I was there for a friend wanting to attempt the challenge).
I'm actually a good cook, and when I first read this thread I was like "ALL RIGHT!" But then everyone started going on about the importance of proper fish of the highest quality, and then I was discouraged again, because there's no place to get good fish around here. Very fine meat to be had, but fish? Not so much.Originally Posted by Tricen
Cook the fish then lol? Fish doesn't have to be raw.
The one place I got Sushi at, me and my friends ordered, and my friend Stephanie ordered this cooked kind called Tiger something iirc. It was really good. We ended up just splitting everything we ordered among the group and it was alot of fun. I think I was the only one who liked all of them though lol.
I should probably mention one of the fish types in the sushi was fried, and another had calamari. Oh god, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
My favorite sushi rolls are the spider rolls, which have fried soft shell crab as the main part. mmmmmm![]()
