I used to like campaign but now I find it super boring. Hell I spent a lot of times getting NPCs to join in via headhunting, what a waste of my time that was.

Same here, ranking up is actually a problem for me now since I don't do campaign or campaign Ops anymore... I don't even care enough to try to rank up every 5 days or so, probably been almost a month since I ranked up last... I need to get on that.
Gulk I've seen pictures of your friggin palace -- you're loaded, man! Paying for over a year to play this is like a college student going to taco bell after class -- no. big. deal.Going up nearing update, riding steady for a bit then falling back down after awhile repeating constantly. That reminds me... my character hasne't seen WOTG yet, or anything outside the moghouse in a year or so... and still paying for it O_o
Think I'm jsut too lazy to cancel, Its been going since like 1 month after they released cerberusOriginally Posted by Lucavi
So let's see.
We know that an update's likely due with a 3 month delay.
Regardless of what's in there already, people will have been bitching about it by that point or quitting from withdrawal pangs. Addicts, the lot of ya.
As for lack of exp areas- yeah, if you're meriting, WoTG has jack-diddly. Instead, it turned out to be a mountain of alternate exp spots (I've seen good PT spots there up to at least 66 in Grauberg) for everyone else. Fuck, it even has it's own mini-me version of the lesser colibri camps people use next to Aht Urghan...next to San d'Oria [S].
Gear? Aimed the same way- most of the "good stuff" is 55ish.
Been leveling new jobs (not at the "must get new jobs to 75 NOW" rate some folks have) for fun (Dancer sure has), do some Campaign when I want merits, and the usual in between. Sure, you can rank up every 5 days. Notice it gives you 30?
From chatting up people in PT's and friends, the average player is wondering what's next, but most of them aren't in sandy vagina mode about it. Few of them have Holyknight Emblems yet. Many of them don't even have all the maws. Or gobbiebag expansions. Etc, etc.
Now, for the BG-endgame type, it feels like fail and I know it and so do you. But BG tends towards the smart, driven, and know-it-well (if not know-it-all) types that'll go through new content faster than Pedobear in a room full of lolis. People were getting pissed by New Year's, much less the apparent March thing that, y'know, matches the pause from last time.
Yeah, I'm sure people who are pissed at this game like me are primarily the ones who have done everything in the game so far they can do, so we want more, otherwise booooooooooring. (i really wanted to do einherjar and salvage but statics are quite insanely stupid and i always work during primetime playing so D:D:D:D:D ) If i was an average player who was roughly halfway done with this game so to speak, yeah I wouldn't be caring all too much about the next expansion/updates. But for some of us, WotG was supposed to be the liberating light of hope from droll boredom. It has yet to live up to that expectation ._.Originally Posted by Kyreth
No, not really. I think your opinion is distorted by the higher leveled exp camps and some of the items that came with it. Being in a new town isn't "something to do".As far as that goes, ToAU had a LOT LOT LOT LOT FUCKING more things in it at its release than WotG did.
This is true except for the whole thing about there being a plethora of more things to do inside this new town then there is in WoTG.Originally Posted by BRP
I can't help it your TOUA time line failed. Yes they may seem to be on schedule for the eventual release of the update. Then again they are way off on releasing any teasers to keep the fans and subscribers interests between version updates. Why no argument on the COP updates. Is that because they were released fast or because it only proves S.E does whatever they want.Originally Posted by ringthree
So what we had a couple of holidays. Whats that equal 2-3 days total. Hell I had to keep my schedule on track. I couldn't push those dates 4 days further in just because it was the holidays. Regardless that still doesn't take away from the fact that they can easily release some teasers for the upcoming update even if the date is not set. Get the fans talking about it speculating about it. Thats the whole point of updates and teasers. Instead S.E disappears for 21/2 to 3 months and thinks nobody will care.
Sure people will complain, and why not we are the paying customers that gives me the power to in essence. So just like there are people who will complain. There are those of you who will gladly kiss S.E's ass for whatever reason.
Really you should just give up and go back to doing what you have been doing since the second week of WOTG release and thats staying in the other expansion zones.
Visit the AH or take a boat to Nashmau, oohhhhhh.Originally Posted by Kayos
EDIT: And that Hostel.
When you say "more things to do inside the new town", you're speaking of quests, as those were really the only new things to do in town outside of besieged, which was as buggy as all hell during the initial release. You had a few assaults, besieged, quests (which every town has), missions (every town has those too), lolhostel, and a boat to take you to a new town. That's not "tons more than other expansions", especially WoTG.
People like to take the merit zones, besieged, and assaults, and turn them into the holy trinity of the "plethora of things to do" religion. It was enough to keep people busy, but most people were kept busy simply from meriting their pants off since they didn't have to camp on top of one another at weapons or golem camps anymore. They just started camping on each other in new areas, but that's no different from the old expansion.
No, the reason people say there was so much to do in ToAU release is because the things that there were to do -- people actually did them. They weren't flops like garrison, many ENMs, and those stupid missions where 18 people ran into noob zones and killed shit, which nobody did. If assault had flopped anything like garrison, people would have complained about a lack of things to do outside of merits and beseiged -- SE was just lucky that they created a few things that stuck to the playerbase.
You are right. Those must have been the only two things in Whitegate and Al Zhabi when ToAU came out.Originally Posted by BRP
I listed the rest, and no, theres still not that much. Hell, I remember people rushing out to level blu and cor as being the most popular things to do during the first few months, and guess what, WotG came with new jobs to level as well. You are right. Those must have been the only two things in Whitegate and Al Zhabi when ToAU came out.
Main difference was that ToAU grabbed the playerbase by the balls and gave them new places to exp, new dungeons to explore and assault. Besieged also kept people busy from launch to update #1 but.... the EXP zones were the reason ToAU wasnt as disliked outta the box - they were at the time 'revolutionary'
WoTG has 2 new jobs but 1 is atm in limbo as to what its going to be doing endgame and dancer is pretty well accepted as a pseudo-healer/dd but even with the new zones people are still going back to RoZ and then ToAU to exp. So it gets bland fast.
Not much is still more then there is in WoTG. Campaign got boring 4 weeks ago. Blu was and still is a great job to exp (I do have 75 blu) and decent in some HNM situations. I dont see myself ever leveling SCH or DNC, and after partying with those jobs recently, I don't understand why anyone would either.Originally Posted by Lucavi
Nobody is jumping on the "Plethora of more things to do in ToAU" bandwagon. I know there wasn't a ton more to do but, there WAS more to do. And of those things, at least to me (and a ton of other people considering how long this thread is) they had a lot more relevance than what WoTG has to offer.
Cue the obligatory blah blah we haven't even seen a version update QQing.
It never fails, no matter what game you go to. The end-gamers are the ones who complain the loudest, especially when they've done all the content and want more. They whine that there is nothing to do, and go off and do other games.
No MMO is going to keep you busy with new stuff 100% of the time. Learn to accept the lulls. If you feel there isn't much to do, play something else for awhile. Variety can be nice.
"OMG! I have nothing to do for a whole MONTH! Let's all blame <insert MMO company here>! It's all their fault!"
Did ToAU have more than WotG? Yes. I, too, feel they released the xpac too fast in time for Christmas, instead of waiting another few months to add more content. But I also know, that end-gamers would still be whining about the lack of content if WotG hadn't been released when it had. They released it early to give you something to do, and you still complain.
And yes, there are things to complain about, in FFXI. I think the HNM scene sucks ass, personally, among other things. This sentence included to ward off the fanboy comments.
The endgamers are also your source of constant money, they are the ones that keep the low levelers/newbies rushing to get to 75 - the ones that give the game free publicity and go to events to talk to the dev panels/fanfests etc. - the ones that develop the strategies - the ones that write the 'how-to guides' and everything you see on those resource sites. It never fails, no matter what game you go to. The end-gamers are the ones who complain the loudest, especially when they've done all the content and want more. They whine that there is nothing to do, and go off and do other games.
You see, without the high-levels and endgamers the game would have a *Far* shorter lifespan for newer people due to the nature of how FFXI works. (SE sets you into the world and says GL) Do you really think the average person playing 3hours a day on a console is putting more into the 'community' than the people that bitch/whine and moan while figuring out the damage formulas, what the wierd food last patch does and those new exp camps?
No one has completed all the content, and it is very understandable that the dev team needs time to create new patches to keep the majority endgame population of FFXI - they *are* human... but the issue is that so much shit is already in the game that could just be tweaked without an update, holding people over until next major update that its demoralizing for some when they wait 3months to see that SE has again overlooked them (oh well.... reset that 3month timer?) that people bitch when the patches are lame.
SE could have released the AV video (lol) and shut most people up for the time being until the next patch floated right into their hands.... or tweaked some shit in WoTG rq (exp bonus?) but they dont.... so people will continue to complain.
15 assaults, 1 hnm, many new zone with good xp camps (meriting is a huge part of the game no matter what you think), new set of armor, 3 new jobs, more mission (there was a BC at least), Walahrah Turban, besieged, many questsOriginally Posted by BRP
WoTG really doesnt have much when you compare it to ToAU. Campaigns ops aren't fun and serve no purpose, missions are even shorter than ToAU, there is no new [usable] gears or xp. Rehashed zone made them get old even faster, even if we rarely go to some of those maps. 2 jobs and campaign is the only thing there is, and campaign get old after so many times without enough reward.
And more importantly, they didnt 4 freaking mobs the next updates. It came out much faster.
You are completely deluded. The time frame is almost exactly the same, especially if you consider the holiday (and if you are in the wrong line of work if you only got 2-3 days off for the Holidays).Originally Posted by Rags
ToA is a better comparison, when CoP was released the game was much different and smaller, so it was easier to create updates.
I, as much as anyone, want update news. But I use logic, and I am realistic about it. I am not going to throw a hissy fit because the update information is 3 days later than what I want. Indicating that the update timeframe is not that late does not make me an SE apologist. I won't get upset about it one way or the other. You are the one that is complaining (without any reason), so I would say that perhaps you are the one that is too emotionally invested.
Anyway, this is getting retarded. You will just say that I "failed" for some other reason I am sure. The point is that the people expecting an update before late February-early March don't have much evidence to back up their expectations.
Trust me I am not throwing a Hissy fit about the lack of information on an upcoming version update for an expansion pack which flopped big time. You would think as a company the first priority would be to try and rectify the situation. Give the players a developers update, release notes, and let them speculate on what might be. Even prepare to release the update faster.
I probably am in the wrong line of work. I only get Dec 25th off and then Dec 31 and Jan 1st. Thats probably why I am also taking night classes to get out of that line of work. Then again why complain about it when I make 50$ an hour. BUt just because I have those days off doesn't mean I can just push the date of the projects that much further back.
Anyways Why bother talking about how S.E fails. They will update the content with what they want with no regards to the players wants and needs. An then we can all come back here and ponder why nothing ever changes.
So no you don't fail. Now continue on with your game play that 99.9% of it revolves around everything other then WOTG.![]()
