I guess thats where you would get near 50%, but something is telling me they don't stack like that.
Koga Tekko are 33% like my balls are rainbow colored.

That being said, I've never tested it, but 33% my balls.

And @ the guy above me, Sange isn't amazing, but it at least does something, granted I've been talking about switching to NTE but that's mainly because I do tool intensive stuff, if all I did was merit on NIN and I had NTE merited I'd probably cancel my account.

If all you do on NIN is merit, man up, buy some shurikens, take 15 minutes to put together a RATT Sange macro and enjoy a nice barrage TP effect. If you solo IT++, lesser HNMs, solo farm sea, solo / duo ENMs, or frequent stuff like that I suppose I'd rather know I have tools on me than have that 1 time I pull a MNK aern and have kurayami be gone.

And if you're lucky enough that your LS let's you play NIN at events (only way that happens with me is if I show up NIN and something pops first window before I'm told to get my ass on PLD) then stop leeching and get san spells to help the BLMs MB or something useful like that.

    Re: Ninja Meriting

    So far my merits are:

    7 HP
    2 STR
    8 Great Katana
(leaving other wep merits for dagger)
    8 ninjutsu
    4 Crit rate
    5 Store TP
    5 Meditate Recast
    1 Blade Bash
    1 Ikishoten
    3 Overwhelm
    1 Ninja tool expertise
    1 Evasion

As you see SAM is my main, I'm planning on meriting Ninja tool expertise and Subtle Blow to full but I'm going to leave the elemental ninjutsu until I find a permanent linkshell that needs me to merit a certain spell.

Tanking longer fights for your LS on NIN, it's nice to have Expertise... one can easily blow through a couple stacks of shihei and nearly full stacks of Kura/Hojo for hate keeping. I know one friend capped out NTE and Koga Tekko, etc, and he ended up using like, only 11 shihei total for a long Campaign run. :D

Sorry, had to giggle at that. :D

I don't think I could ever keep track how many times I cast something anyway, I spam recast macros constantly and check my inventory for tool count like every 5 minutes, so.

I think it's mostly because when you look at the Category 2 merits a NIN has, there's arguably nothing worth spending merits on aside from Tool Expertise.

    Crit + 4/4
    STR 5/5
    Katana 8/8
    lolEVA 4/4

THat should keep ya busy for awhile, assuming you havent already taken care of that for other jobs.

On the nin SPECIFIC area, yeah Ninja tool expertise, Sange, Subtle blow.
These get my vote, with some parry when I get spare merits.

Speaking as a NIN with capped Parrying skill, I would never merit Parrying.

Parrying is nice when it does happen, but I would hate to depend on a Parry to save me. In solo situations, with enough +Evasion skill items you can make a mob miss much easier than you can parry an attack. In larger fights, I also don't think you can stack enough +Parrying Skill items in slots where you would rather have something else to see any kind of decent returns. For bigger junk, I stopped using my Boxer's Mantle after I got a Gigant Mantle, and I've never looked back.

Not sure why you think koga tekko isn't 33% but it is, its very nice to stack them when doing lesser stuff to save tools like say campaign, pops farming etc. Sange is tempting for what you pointed out but buying worthy shurikens isn't always that easy unless all you care about is the tp. I am still tempted by sange but finishing other merits right now.

It is easier to knock rng for recycle because of the other options but if rng had crappy cat 2 merits I would have probably capped recycle myself.
