    Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse + FFXI

So I got this shiny new sidewinder mouse, it feels really different but I like it. After installing the drivers (and the annoying force reboot) FFXI seems to crash with a directinput error constantly. Removing the mouse fixes the problem every single time... but obviously I want to use the mouse.

Any ideas I might not have thought of? Just a simple driver installation glitch and I should reinstall?

works fine that way but I cant customize the buttons (no double click button = no quick unit select hax in starcraft) and I cant change the DPI on the fly settings

FFXI crash with or without windower? Im not at home, and dont quite recall, but I think both FFXI and Windower have some mouse options, try changing those around. If plain ol FFXI is crashing and changing mouse settings does nothing in or out of game, it's obviously a driver issue. There may be a generic/newer driver on MS.com or on windowsupdate.com, give those a shot. If normal FFXI works fine, and windower isnt the one working, theres probably something that can be done with a windower setting.

Did you use the drivers from the CD or did you download a new set >_>?
9/10 times the drivers packaged with the product are already outdated when you buy it.

Wow, guess it has to be an incompatibility with Intellipoint, I'm not too familiar with Microsoft mice as I've been using Logitech for 5 years or so now. If you're having trouble with your old Logitech try downloading the latest version of Setpoint and make sure all of the Intellipoint files are removed from your system.
