Yup, exactly my thoughts. My mom helps out in GA traffic stray cats all around to 'halfway homes' to help them avoid the needle. There is one PetSmart down here that has a bunch of cages they put out on the weekends to try and get cats adopted and it breaks my heard seeing how many of them get taken and knowing that so many get put down each day. I wish you luck and post pics when you get the new cat.
Are you sure that's the situation? I don't know about your area, but around here when they set cages up for the weekends, it's not the pet store running them, but various local rescue groups that are allowed to use the space. I picked up my kitty from PetCo, through
Furry Friends Rescue and would definately go back again. They're all very well cared for and individually attended to before getting adopted, and you can talk to the animals' temporary caregivers who really know each one, and can help you make sure you're getting a good match with personality, temperament, and all that
Maybe it's just local to the Bay, but I'd think there has to be something similar in the OP's area?
