Are you sure that's the situation? I don't know about your area, but around here when they set cages up for the weekends, it's not the pet store running them, but various local rescue groups that are allowed to use the space. I picked up my kitty from PetCo, through Furry Friends Rescue and would definately go back again. They're all very well cared for and individually attended to before getting adopted, and you can talk to the animals' temporary caregivers who really know each one, and can help you make sure you're getting a good match with personality, temperament, and all that

Maybe it's just local to the Bay, but I'd think there has to be something similar in the OP's area?

I checked out shelters when I wanted a pet and finally settled on Bideawee because a friend of mine adopted there before. It was also a clean shelter unlike north shore. They have in house vets that give your cat all the necessary shots for a suggested fee of $150. 1st month visit is free. They also have an inhouse behavior trainer that's extremely helpful.

If it's close to the Virgin Megastore, I could probley find it.

I saw bidawee but I assumed it was going to be shitty. Guess not. If I can't find anything at BARC I'll go to bidawee. I'm going to BARC on Saturday.

Sorry for the confusion. That is exactly what happens here. PetSmart provides the space and the lady that runs RescueCats brings them up from her house and puts the on display. Its a full time job for her. She finds the cats, gets them in proper order (shots, etc), and tries to find a home for them with PetSmart being one of her biggest outlets. We've worked with her and started supplying cats we've found and nursed and its always good getting a call from them telling us they've found a home

I want a cat too can you put one in an envelope and mail it to australia?

My mother hates animals, so my whole life I couldnt have anything aside from stupid animals (birds, fish, WOOHOO. Fish dont bury your keys in the backyard and make your life frustrated, where's the fun in that?).

We now have a 4 bedroom home with only 2 bedrooms occupied (after 2 of my sisters got married and moved out), because my mother wasn't very thrilled when I asked her about replacing my sisters with cats or dogs. There wouldn't be that much of a difference, well aside from the fact I won't get bitched at (lol) due to a synchronized menstrual cycle.

i'm going to be fostering a cat soon that's part leopard, if i could fly it over to you i would
Would that happen to be a "savannah cat"?

If so where are you located? I've been looking for one for my g/f and would prefer a rescue cat as opposed to buying from a breeder.

I'll PM you my email address. Whenever you get any info let me know and we can see if we can work things out. I'm in southern NY but Maryland is well within driving distance for me on a weekend.

    Thanks again *^_^*
