Any idea what the first one was? At first I thought Bushido Blade, but apparently that was in '97
    Battle Arena Toshinden

Cool at the time, but has definitely not aged well.

If it is the game I am thinking of, BAT3 has like.. A weird monkey guy and like... They have specials and stuff? If it is the game I am thinking of, that game was fucking sweet. The monkey guy or something like rolled over you with a huge ball. And there was a guy with big claws and shit I think.. I remember using a guy with a gun and owning hardcore with him. The char selection was pretty big iiirc.

The only thing I recall from BAT3 was how clunky the action felt due to every button press having a split-second lag to it. Looked great for a PSX game though.

Anyways, big wtf from me also. I would never have saw that one coming ever.

Hmm, now the question will be whether or not they'll be overpowered in some cases like Link @.@d

Really looking forward to SC4's character creation system. If they've greatly improved upon three's, it'll be like the bestest thing evar.

Yoda will probably the cheapest character in game simply due to the fact that he's freaking tiny. Also I think Darth Maul would have been cooler myself.

Isn't a lightsaber completely unblockable without another lightsaber or some kind of shield? Wouldn't it just cleave through all the other SC characters, weapon and all?

Pssh thats assuming the other sword is normal also...I doubt most of the swords in Soul Calibur are of a normal origin. But yeah...no way they'll keep it that realistic.

To Tricen - you need more skilled friends. SCII & Smash are the games of choice for hours upon hours of friendly combat, amidst myself & my friends. We've been playing it as a group activity since the day it was released, and its been the bond of our friendships even in really rough patches.

And in spite of how good we think we are, I went to a college town party a year ago, and met this guy who played with an all new level of excellence, who taught me some great tricks!

SCII was awesome because it was smooth and offered easy gameplay for those who weren't Tekken masters, but had a level of depth which could be achieved for those who desired a deeper fighting game.

SCIII sucked the balls. I was really disappointed with it, overall. Maybe I just hate the PS controller for fighting games.

As for putting Darth Vader & Yoda in it, I think it will be fairly fun. I've been hoping for another Star Wars fighting game, perhaps this will serve as a precursor? In case you're wondering what I mean by "another", then you missed out on this fun as hell game:

    Masters of Teras Kasai

That would be Teräs Käsi (Teräs means Steel, Käsi means Hand in finnish). Just a fun fact.

Also, I'm afraid to play SC with my friends anymore. Not because I'm so fucking uber at it, but because everytime I win my friends get all butthurt. Especially one of my friends, who thought he was teh shit and unbeatable in SC2 with Nightmare. Well, enter Xianghua and super fast (albeit rather powerless) moves and dodging action. Xianghua 1, Nightmare 0. After that he didn't talk to me for few days. Videogames are serious business.

Some people aren't cut out for the life of competition. To those, I give my pity. With the flat end of my blade... er, "A" Button.

There are literally dozens of ways to kill someone far more entertaining than dropping your sword on their head because your opponet can't block or side-step.

Half the attacks in the game won't even be able to hit Yoda, hilarious.

Pretty cool (and very unexpected) news.
