Definitely need a short wait, which kind of obviates the need to do complex gear swaps since getting the right gear on pretty much takes up any time you would've saved.Originally Posted by chapstick
That bein' said, I tend to idle/misc. cast in Vermy (fk Xarc). Fast Cast is awesome, extra MP recovery is often awesomer.
I'd definitely use Duelist's over Goliard for anything I didn't swap in a specific body armor in for, if I wasn't concerned with Auto Refresh.
Heavy macro switching is the difference between 6-man Jormy and Home Point?Originally Posted by Saraphym
P.S. I'm not against heavy swaps, but more with a shitty PC there is only so much you can do![]()
uh if you were doing 6-man jormy, i'd automatically assume you wouldn't need a forum to tell you which body piece to wear when, and when to macro what. Otherwise your group is probably already in trouble.Originally Posted by Tajin
The delay before the fast cast equipment can take effect probably negates whatever decrease in casting time you gain from the fast cast itself, I wouldn't bother trying to macro fast cast in like that. If you can idle in the piece to begin with, the fast cast is nice, but I'd rather use a refresh body(unless you're tanking), and macro in goliards for certain spells.

As long as you have a few other pieces of gear that swap in after the Fast Cast gear it seems to proc fine. I play on 360 so my Macros generally look like;
/equip AF Hat
/equip HQ Stave needed
/equip etc
/equip etc
/equip etc
/ma Spell
and then I hit my MND, INT, Enfeebling, Nuking or w/e gear macro after. Too many macros but that's what I get for not playing on comp. Never noticed my Hat not proc on Spells and it's not like there is some delay in there or anything. If you don't want to use extra macros, AF2 body for spells you need fast or for situations you need then casted fast(generally solo/tanking, etc) and Goliard for when you aren't in as big a rush(healing and stuff). I think Goliard is the better all around body but Fast Cast is pretty nice in alot of situations.
I'm a hell of a lot more lazy and fulltime goliard basically. Maybe i'll macro in AF2 body if it ever drops, but I enjoy being lazy
I'm pretty sure your hat isn't proccing the casting speed on your spells, but you would be getting the recast benefit once it fires. That is, unless 360 is different than PC in this respect (which is very possible.)/equip AF Hat
/equip HQ Stave needed
/equip etc
/equip etc
/equip etc
/ma Spell
As mentioned above, I also never saw the benefits of putting a FC item in the macro with the spell.
And to the mention of the 6-man Jormy, it's discussions like are in this thread which help people get to that level. If you consider yourself "too lazy" to follow them, then threads like this don't necessarily apply to you![]()
Fulltime Goliard also means right after you convert you don't lose that extra MP. Not a huge deal for 1 piece, but overall it adds up. Though you can easily make a set of "just converted" macros to keep the extra MP and fast cast gear switching to conserve MP etc for after you've spent some mp.
For most things besides cures, if you place the gear change lines before stnpc/stpc you'll get the benefit of FC. I normally don't do that for cures because I don't like the second wait to get it out. For those I fulltime errant body because I don't do Nyzul, RDM body doesn't drop for me and my inventory space is complete hell.
Every RDM should have full MP after they Convert and cure up.Originally Posted by Alistaire

im pretty sure discussions like are in this thread apply to any rdm with both body pieces who care to know which is better for certain situations. not every rdm with these eq is going to 6 man jormy or care to, so should they just gtfo? no.Originally Posted by Raineer
I'd keep AF2 body to reduce spell recast down in between spells and macro Goliard body when using spells. Conserve mp +5 is not great though. For example on haste it saves you ~ 25% mp every 4% spells. In a merit party situation when you haste 4 ppl, it takes 75 minutes for 100 hastes, thus saving you 50 mps, which is ... 6,6 mps every 10 minutes lol.
I use Goliard for spells I don't need to repeat casting quickly (i.e. Stoneskin, Aquaveil, Raise, Regen, etc.) Anything I need to cast quickly (Refresh, Haste, -na spells if /WHM, primarily) I use Duelist's Tabard. As another poster mentioned, I also use Goliard for Cure IV for the -Emnity.Originally Posted by AzazaelFenrir
On another note, for RDM nuking, Yigit Gomlek (+5 MAB) or Errant Houppelande (+10 INT)? (I don't anticipate getting Morrigan's Robe any time soon).
I used Mahatma Hpl. for RDM nuking.
Having high INT definitely decreases resist rate compared to just going full MAB.
Sometimes would go a full Zipacna without getting one resist on Blizzard III in my nuke set which consisted of:
Warlock's Chapeau +1/Phantom Tathlum/Elemental Torque/Novio/Moldative/Mahatma Hpl/Morrigan's Cuffs/Tamas Ring/Snow Ring/Merciful Cape/Penitent's Rope/Mahatma Slops/Nashira Crackows.
Put me in the ballbark of like 280ish elemental magic skill with +16 from merits/+45ish INT/+7macc.
I like INT over MAB for RDM nukes specifically because it helps alot more with resists, plus the errant and yigit body will be very comparable to one another damage wise, so definitely better to go with the INT.
swapping to a duelists body at beginning of cast and not is def not going to make or break a 6man jorm lolOriginally Posted by Saraphym
I can't think of one situation where it would be required, but it certainly does make you more efficient
lol :< yeah I totally agree with that. Fast cast isn't gonna make or break the fight.
Errant(or morrigan, but i'm lazy shit and dont want to join any salvage group) for slow/para/blind
AF1 for sleep/silence/gravity
AF2 for stoneskin/phalanx etc
hm... dont have goliard and dont plan to lot for it....
