Casted in V.Cloak (No extra Fast Cast bonuses). Fires off at 65%.

And finally, casted in W.Chapeau fulltime. Fires off at 55%

Rose Garden etc.
Obviously, you are an idiot. Thanks to the above for posting SSs so I didn't have to. Casting a full 10% earlier is a big fucking difference.Originally Posted by fantasticdan
Just tested it with the following macro
input /equip head "Warlock's Chapeau"
input /equip body "Duelist's Tabard"
pause .2
input /ma Stoneskin Leeto
This procced both of the -10% CASTING TIME (not recast) traits. The spell would always go off right around 45-50% on the bar.
Using the following macro, it did NOT proc (i.e. the spell went off at about 65%)
input /equip head "Warlock's Chapeau"
input /equip body "Duelist's Tabard"
input /ma Stoneskin Leeto
Small exception if I was a lagging a little, once in a while it seemed to go off at 55% as if the chapeau had proced but the tabard had not.
I did not take screens of all 30 times I casted stoneskin but I think I can safely say that if you're relying on the second macro to work for all your spells you're doing it wrong. If your spell takes more than 2 seconds to cast then you're probably getting a benefit out of putting that .2 wait and starting the spell after. I wouldn't do it for something like cures though. If you don't have access to windower macros (and can't make waits as small as .2) then you're sol as well.
maybe it's just a 360 thing but it procs for me 90% of the time w/o a wait or maybe it's just cause I have other gear after the fast cast gear.
Looks like I'm re-writing my macros =/
Thanks for the info. One dumb question though if I may.
Being mathematically retarded, could you please tell me how much (percentage wise) that .2 wait command knocks off my 20% fast cast (effective from Chapeau and Tabard)?
Many thanks.

input /equip sub "Raptor Strap +1";

input /equip ear2 "Magnetic Earring";

input /ma "Stoneskin" <me>;
45-50% Each time.
I'd hit the button and then switch to another gear set real quick, too and still 45-50% each time. :3
Sometimes, though, I do feel it lags out and doesn't catch the Hat/Body when I'm soloing and it fires off a bit late, but that's bound to happen sometimes. EDIT: Yea, if I hit SS/Blink macro and *very quickly* hit another macro, it would not proc one or both of the items resulting in a 65% cast off.
To edit this: I always felt that you needed to have the pieces on for at LEAST a couple seconds WHILE casting for it to proc. Not have a /wait/pause between equipping the gear and casting. Just between casting and switching out the gear.
Does this work 100% of the time on refresh/haste? Never did for me.To edit this: I always felt that you needed to have the pieces on for at LEAST a couple seconds WHILE casting for it to proc. edited my post: idk, never saw this work. I tested this with reraise and fraps, going frame-by-frame and it didn't have an impact.
If you want the exact result, start casting the spell and press ESC to un-target yourself. When you auto-retarget yourself this is when the spell fires. Pretty easy to see frame-by-frame in fraps.
If the fast cast gear goes on midspell, it does NOT work.
Fast cast is calculated at the start of the spell, whereas MND/INT/MAB etc. and recast from haste is calculated as the spell actually goes off.
I'm thinking that the "mini-pause" in adding another non-FC item to the equip swap is enough to allow you to go
/equip "FC item"
/equip "FC item"
/equip "WTF you like"
/ma "Stoneskin" <me>
And get the full FC bonus, while-
/equip "FC item"
/equip "FC item"
/ma "Stoneskin" <me>
Might not. If a .2 delay in Windower does the trick, perhaps a single-item swap line will as well.
/equip head "Wlk. Chapeau +1"
/equip body "Duelist's Tabard"
/ma "Stoneskin" <me>
/equip head "Cat Hood"
/equip body "Force Armor"
that should proc the fast cast no?
Don't think so
If you had af1 hat then af2 body then some other item before /ma "Stoneskin" <me> it should work.
I just keep a standing macro that has my fast cast gear among other things, and mash that constantly. That way when I actually want to cast a fast spell I don't have to worry about if my gear is getting in fast enough or not.
i have a standing macro as well, problem is it has dalm/duelist's hat/w. legs in it. I don't think I could ever really get used to two standing macros, so I generally tend to just hit my refresh macro without someone targetted if I want the FC gear on. I'd like a more efficient way to do it though.Originally Posted by theo
Ah, thats true. I don't have those particular items yet so it hasn't been an issue for me.
My advice... double macro'ing gear for casts is overkill.
Golliard > Healing a merit party
AF2 > RDM/DRK
AF1(+1) > Everything else
This is assuming you have no refresh bodies of course.
Those choices don't even make sense imo.. AF2 for /DRK why? Other then for Stun recast but I think Goliard would be better with the -5enm since it still maintains 4% Haste. For CS Stun AF2 is useless. Goliard for Merit parties where I would rather Cure faster and then rest? Sure Conserve MP would prolly be nice but it's a small amount. AF1 for non-enfeebles? nothx.Originally Posted by Bleu
It's kinda dumb to have gear and not use it. If you aren't using your gear to it's full potential you prolly aren't doing anything that actually requires skill so it doesn't really matter.
Makes me sad to see all these RDMs with AF2 hat/dalm/morri who don't do shit and can't solo for shit. Not that you need any of that to solo ENMs or Sea/Sky NMs, just would make shit easier. Then again, I'm kinda happy I'm one of the few doing all that, leaves more for me.

Goliard for Merit makes sense, to me. People aren't usually "seriously dying" so the Fast Cast isn't needed, where are Conserve MP would be nice to continue a great Haste/Dia Cycle.
I agree with Judai. Having gear and not knowing when/how to use it is fail. I use AF2 for healing merit parties. I don't have goliard, but I'm pretty sure i'd use it over AF2 for /DRK. When I'm just fucking around I don't really care about gear swaps very much, but I have some pretty hefty macros for important things. wearing AF1(+1) body for anything but a few enfeebles (and resting if it's +1) is kinda stupid, if you have an AF2 body or goliard as an alternative.Originally Posted by Judai
I know some RDMs who do pretty well soloing things without AF2 hat/dalm/morrigan, but I notice alot of RDMs with that gear who don't know how to gear swap for anything. Just doesn't make sense to me, macros are not hard to make.
