Over the JP playerbases dead bodies they drop PS2~
I thought Japan was supposed to be ahead of the game on technology. Why are they even still using PS2s? Why haven't they upgrade to PCs? They're the first people I'd expect to be on the cutting edge as soon as any new technology is available.Originally Posted by ronin sparthos
They are also traditionalists as well, which is why we have the hardheaded devs, bad customer service and slow reaction time to stuff.
Most of the 'playerbase' according to SE are PS2 accounts so im pretty sure PS2 will never be discontinued. SE isnt in the position to be losing more customers.

I thought they already announced both of these were issues? Didn't they just do a patch to fix this boat as well as the other boats too? I remember a wile back they posted that the ps2 freezing was a known issue.... and just left it like that ;x
omfg finally, now I have a reason to use my ps2 again, maybe....
was honestly about time to fix the ps2 issue.
Yes, because it was really the PS2 preventing them from increasing your inventory space after all! No? Oh. Well, I'm sure they'd spend lots of time on a graphical overhaul of the non-PS2 versions of FFXI when they have a new MMORPG in development. Oh, they said they weren't going to do that either? As always, the thing really holding FFXI back is SE. If there's something you want in FFXI that they haven't done, it's because they don't want to (for whatever reason).Originally Posted by Fhqwghads
Yes, they've announced both of these issues before, and imagined they fixed them in previous version updates. Go team. I'm hoping that, 3 months down the road, they'll re-announce the issue of certain quests crashing the PS2 in Aht Urghan, and try to fix that again too, because it didn't work the first time either.
Hey guys. I heard SE takes a long time to fix shit. News to me, let's all make sarcastic quips about it! 8)
Regardless if they introduce graphic updates or not, having a smaller number of platforms to support should translate to more stability, less regression testing, and faster turn-around when they add new code. If they decided to drop support for the PS2 then future expansions could embrace richer content, because they'd no longer be restricted by it. However I don't see them ever dropping it, and my original reply was tongue in cheek anyway.Originally Posted by Bakthi
Dont worry, even if they did drop PS2 all they'd then say is something like 'Xbox 360 limitations' or 'We'd have to charge you all a higher monthly fee' :D
Whatever happened to that Direct X9 upgrade? >.>;
Would take too much time to program and test so they'll continue to work with in the limitations of DX8.Originally Posted by ronin sparthos
Yeah, I was hoping for more too... maybe we can get them to add more macro lines next. Or is there a limitation somewhere for that as well?
