    New player to HNM

So i recently started to do a few small HNM and things, nothing big just like Simurgh and Roc and Serket, and i was wondering, how exactally is the Time of Death you get from something worked out. I am faily confused because i always thought it was when the message X Monster was defeated came up, but other people are telling me it is when the monsters name disappears. To me it makes more sense for it to be the first.

I'm sorry if this has been aske dmany times before, but i didnt know what words to put in search function to try and find it

    Thanks in advance

It is when the mob disappears.

This is correct. You can also get it by having a mob on widescan. ToD is when it drops off scan (when it disappears).

Obviously there can be a discrepancy due to lag even if you're taking ToD at the 'correct' moment.

Name disappears (ideally) once the mob has finished fading out. Obviously all of the timings can be affected by lag, but it is what it is.

dont think its a bid deal, just be on your toes when the pop minute is up cuz its rly cant be a 100% accurate due the lag where these HNMs pop

Actually he's not too far from his presumption. I came up with the same theory when I was camping HNMs. Usually takes 15-20 seconds after the mob hits 0%hp for it to completely disappear from my screen. Time varies due to lag.

I was being satirical but when I bot TODs afk it logs the mob hitting 0% precisely, I add 18 seconds and I can tell you with a very small margin of error that it pops within a second either way of the TOD +18s

    Re: New player to HNM

when the body and name disappears, lag like people have said is a major factor in all this. So I usually go TOD +or - 2 seconds.

we always just clock hp = 0 and try to be on our toes for like 30 sec or so <_> even though it's actually one instant in time

    Re: New player to HNM

If you have widescan (or anyone in your party) track the mob you want ToD for, the instant you "lose" it from the tracking is the exact ToD (same time as name disappearing but should be lag-free)

I suspect that would only work for you, your rig and connection etc. Someone on a shitty machine and 56k would most likely be a second or two further away.

its purely connection, as long as your bot is on even if you don't cast or can target the mob it notifies you the second its loaded, even in 200 man aery on a 1.6 ghz toshiba satellite with 512 mb of ram it shows exactly when it pops, even if you can't target it for 10 minutes
