So yeah mnk is kinda lucky, we can upgrade equip and dont have to request. Sure you wont be able to have enhance stuff from af on bcnm but I dont think people will notice.

So you don't like to macro in Head, Feet or Hands in 60cap battles (This ring a bell?).

I'm doing pulling the string on BLM Spirit Lantern > Counter earring, also since exp si much harder to get on blm I prefer to use this enm for blm.

And honestly with H2H merit you shouldnt have any problem to hit even without focus boost, the boost before ws well you can't do anything but it doesnt really matter, as for more HP with chakra, I'm sure most of people are doing a lots of assault like everyone to be able to enter Salvage and are getting lots of HI-Potion tank and hi-potion +2 or +3. So yeah, nothing you can really compensate, I dont see why AF would be sooo good for level cap things unless there's something I dont understand.

I've done a few merit parties as mnk/war where I never took melee gaiters off for any reason (mainly because I had hate nearly all the time) and I always parsed with around 10% higher counter rate than when I switch back to dune boots right away in normal merit situations.
