My friend would like to know what he should do. HE is a returning player who took 3 months off. When he logged onto his account it said he had a passed due fee. He had called and canceled his account on FFXI the last week of Sept. A good 9 days before they even bill for the next month. He also had reported it to them when S.E emailed him. Question is will that bill for Oct activate the month of Jan OR will he be billed twice. Both for Oct and Jan?

I told him to just wait until Monday and talk to them about it. I am not sure if they will just credit his account, Put money back into his account. Or tell him tough shit. But I figured I could ask all you BG peeps and see if anyone else has gone thru the same thing...

Edit:: in case anyone was curious he could not remember his password at the time, Or locate where he wrote it down. An the reason why he called to cancel was because his wallet was stolen at the Station. An he figured it was a good time to take a few months off and pick up a second job.

Um, you're asking if they'll charge for October if you canceled in September and reactivate in January? No, they won't.


However, keep in mind that the whole prorating thing with the trial when you first started, does not apply to reactivating. If you activate on January 31st you will be charged for the entire month of January, and February at the same time.


Also yeah that, you won't get billed right away when you reactivate, just get the 2 months at once when next cycle comes.

I am still kinda confused. It must be the overload of school work. His POL says he has a past due amount for 10/2007. But by paying that he will be charged 30$ on Feb 2nd ?

Oh, if it says he has a past due amount, I don't know for sure but I would assume probably so. Sorry I missed that somehow in the op.

I had an issue similar to this with another account.SE said that it hadn't been paid for April (which it was) It was now June.I called them and they gave me this long bs, confusing run around answer and that I had to pay for April and June.The rep also said that you are billed in advance for the next month. To make a long story short, yes your friend will most likely have to pay it and they will give you whatever BS reason for him to have to.

I figured as much from S.E. Its funny but my friends WoW account was never canceled. His card was terminated and so was his account. All he had to due was enter in his new information and he was back on. No stupid late fees or pay for 2 months instead of one.

Well he said he is going to wait til monday and call. He says if he gets the run around then so be it. Though it is kinda stupid when you think about it. You pay to play. If you don't pay that must mean you didn't want to play. So why be charged anyways especially for a month you couldn't even play.

Well its no wonder why S.E fails. First my friend contacts C.S. They ask him for all his info. So they recognize the card but not his address. Seems they still had his address from over 4 years ago even though he has moved.

Then they tell him they could not do anything without a confirmation number. So he gave it to them. An now they are saying it wasn't showing up in the system. Yes its a legit code. But its not in the system. So they ask him who issued it and he gave the name. Well the guy no longer works there.

So after all that they still say he has to pay March and then JAn to be able to play. I guess everything my friend could do to cover his ass failed. I guess the only way to stop payment is to just cancel your playonline account thru the game.

Yes, if your going to take a break or not play for a moth for any reason.Cancel the account through the game. When I read what you wrote about that, I remembered the rep. telling me if I didn't want to get billed for it YOU MUST CANCEL IT or yes, they will bill you, period. It's just another one of those screwed up things they do to make money, and of course they know your going to pay it -.-

At the time canceling thru POL was not an option. He figured it was better to call and do it. The sad part is he never bothered to call Blizzard and cancel his account. But he had no problem starting it back up. There was no fee for a month he wasn't able to play. Why FFXI has one is stupid.

An its 14.95$ for him since he has 2 mules. The 15 bucks didn't matter. But why pay it if you have the cancellation code. Seems he will have to pay it anyways.
