Well, in the latest issue of Astonishing (the entire arc of which is apparently placed just before Messiah Complex), Kitty had phased into the inside of a giant space bullet. Yes. A giant space bullet. Aimed at Earth. Not 100% sure she'll die, per se, but since we have seen Collossus but have not seen her, it is a high probability that she will either comic-die (i.e. be brought back to life the second it's convenient), or be LOST... IN SPACE!

Honestly, ever since New Mutants the editors seem like they fuck up the books every time the writers try to get a flow going. "OK, so we have the New Mutant squad and the Hellions squad conflict going well, let's start to move... Wait, you mean most of the New Mutant squad has been depowered and we are merging the teams now? OK I guess..." "OK, now we have everyone dealing with the horrible consequences of M-Day and loads of tasty emotional trauma that they have to deal with... Wait, now we are reorganizing the teams again?"

I'm not used to this sort of thing from the editors at Marvel. Usually they are so busy picking awful talent and making sure that plot lines are sufficiently awful that they don't bother to interfere with books, even when they should. (Hi to you, Chuck Austen's entire terrible run on Uncanny X-Men, including the coup de shit origin of Nightcrawler.)

they should make Elixir a villain and be done with it. Prodigy should be recruited to New Warriors by Wind Dancer.

I don't think it really clicked with me that that was going on Sep, but I get what you mean. It has really disrupted the book, which is a damned shame. Even now, we had all this awesome stuff going on -- students in complete psychological disarray, Pixie losing a piece of her soul, Prodigy and Surge having real problems, Hellion revelling more and more in his dark side, the continued bonding of Mercury, Dust, and X70489, and this awesome horror lurking in the shadows. Then the execs say "HOLY CRAP! X34782 and Wolverine in ONE BOOK!!!! Think of the SALES!" and they steal the killer mercury monster and kill it in the lamest way possible (honestly, they should have given it the ability to shut down mutant powers), then drop half the other characters. Tch.

I try not to think of the whole Nightcrawler-joining-the-priesthood thing, or pretty much any of the material that occured in the main X-books around that time. I consider it about as meaningful as those The End books they keep shitting out (my favorite of which was Thanos becoming god, sacrificing himself to save the entire universe, and declaring nobody could come back from the dead until Joss Whedon comes to X-men and needs Collossus back and/or Joe Q decides he doesn't like that rule anymore).

New Warriors has been one of my top books lately; it's really interesting to see them delve into the history of the 'warriors with Dwayne's brother and Silhouette, both of whom hurt Thrash pretty badly. I definitely dig their line up, and I love how it's primarily composed of de-powered mutants. I've been missing my Jubes action since they shutdown her comic (which I thought was a shame, I enjoyed it) and killed Skin. I was pretty annoyed when they depowered her, but they're using her, Angel, and especially Beak very well now. I'm not terribly impressed with how they're handling Sofia, though; she feels like a very different character. I suppose what she went through changes a person, but she just feels off. I wouldn't mind if Prodigy went to the New Warriors, it would definitely make them more tactically powerful. However, I think Surge would almost have to be involved somehow. I think she might make for an interesting rival or nemesis; not evil, but working against the New Warriors. Dunno, I don't know if they'd let a still-powered mutant join the team. Kind of messes with the flow.

i guess im the only fan of x-23, i really liked her in new x-men. i enjoyed her interaction with dust and mercury, but now that shes gonna be in x-force i doubt ill be much of a fan. i didnt catch on to new x-men till around issue 40 or so but i read them all starting at issue 1, its prob one of my more favorite books. elixer is cool but sort of fail, he could make a brand new heart for david but cant help xavier when he got shot in the head? its not like he wasnt there either, pixie teleported everyone to muir island.
