For the MNK stance, I say reduce attack speed but increase DMG and Kick Attack rate. More powerful, deliberative attacks for situational use and more kicks to slightly offset the delay reduction. To prevent too much abuse, the ability would have a longer recast than duration. Additionally, Hundred Fists would consider the attack speed reduction in calculating the speed bonus.
I figure the stance would need to have a bonus to KA and a bonus to something else before MNKs sacrifice anything from normal H2H attacks. If they drop attack speed only for increased KA rate, then the improvement to KA must be extraordinary (100%) or the stance won't be very attractive. If they reduce attack power for more KA, then no one will ever touch it except for farming TW mobs.
They totally should though.Originally Posted by Jaybar

I don't know if you can call giving a job something it already has any kind of update.Pup: Martial Arts 3 has been added, although PUP has been taken off the usukane set.
Is this a joke? I've never seen one of our PLDs tank in mfeet. I've seen them standing at camps wearing them, but never tanking. I can't even remember the last time you were at a camp to see us fight.Originally Posted by Judai

I just typed a whole bunch of stuff and then timed out of the forums and lost it all.
So now you get the abridged version.
- List of traits/levels for new jobs was clarification, it's already in the game[/*:m:1uhny7eu]
- The new Paladin spell was said to be like Dread Spikes, with the shield as a vehicle to improve the Paladin's performance. They state the damage that is resisted will be shot back, so I assume if you block 100 dmg and take 10, you reflect 100 dmg.[/*:m:1uhny7eu]
- Wyverns will gain more resistance against enemy attacks[/*:m:1uhny7eu]
- The Hydra Corps and their fate will be explored in more detail through quests.[/*:m:1uhny7eu]
- Killing Pixies causes their population to decrease. They will also stop Curing and Raising. Whether or not a Pixie will pop is determined by how safe they feel, balancing times they were killed against times they could live safely. Servers can vary significantly based on how they treat their Pixies, even going so far as to wipe them out completely. This can be repaired over long periods of time, but trading a Bottled Pixie to the Fay Spring will help to increase their population once again. Trading Bottled Pixies has no effect on individual players, but rather affects the entire Server and its status with the Pixies.[/*:m:1uhny7eu]
There was a lot of tidbits and junk, but I think those were the most important I can remember. I'll be here another 30 min or so if there are any questions, like about the Job Adjustments or something.
Very interesting note on the pixes. Thanks elmer.
Oh god, lets hope no one gets annoyed and goes on a killing spree just to piss the whole server off....Killing Pixies causes their population to decrease. They will also stop Curing and Raising. Was there any word on how pixies appear in the present yet?
Now if only this worked on Fafnir/Nidhogg.Originally Posted by Elmer the Pointy

If by 'down locked (locked down?)' you mean 'interchangable with any decent melee job', then yes, I'd have to agree. MNK isn't the best at Chariot tanking by a wide enough margin for them to have complete dominion over it, any job that has good DD and can tank can do as well or sometimes better. As good as they are in the begining of a run, cell gathering is hardly a life or death stage these days, and that's the only part MNK has an edge in.Originally Posted by ronin sparthos
Well, the Feyspring/Bottled Pixie connection is finnaly confirmed. Question now is, have they added pixies to the present yet, and if they have or when they do, will this be the way to get them to appear?
Yea, I got two questions, Elmer. Can you clearify the MNK & BLU portions any further? I can't be sure if the BLU line means they'll only be adding spells from past mobs or if they'll also be adding spells from other mobs.
I'd guess at least something from wivres (Demoralizing Roar), since they added more. (I guess they didn't want competition between the few wivres there used to be.)Originally Posted by LD

Before the release, it was said that defeating monsters in the past could have some affect on the present. Could you give us an example, or some kind of hint?
There's nothing like extinction or anything in the game, but perhaps there's a type of monster you could have exist in the present?
You mean by neglecting a certain monster and not killing it?
No, more like if you defeat its natural enemy then... something like that.
A monster that is in the past but not in the present?
Yes. It will then survive the 20 year gap.
Ladybugs are hunted often by adventurers beacuse of a quest. The reward is good so it's sort of an explanation as to why they are extinct. (laughs)
Yes, that would be why they don't exist 20 years later. (laughs)
After this, they go into the Pixies. I added the Ladybug part for completeness sake, but I think they were just joking around.

The concept they built off of was shaving down their constant stream of attacks in favor of improving Kick Attacks. The idea is that hand-to-hand attacks will decrease in number, while Kick Attacks will be strengthened. They wanted to boost Kicks with some trade-off, and considered weakening punches, increasing delay, and finally decided on directly reducing their number. The second abilitiy considered is 'something to use in a situation where you do not want the enemy gaining TP.'
Blue Mage
New spells are confirmed for the next Version Update. Skills from new monsters will be available as Blue Magic. Monsters in areas of the past will be added to their list of spells. It does not specifiy if spells will only come from new monsters in the past. On the chart it says 'new monsters,' and in the interview it says 'monsters from areas in the past.'
I like that second monk ability, sounds like a stronger penance that'd be good for using during Hundred Fists (and during critical HNM situations). Sounds to me like an ability that completely shuts off a mobs TP useage.Originally Posted by Elmer the Pointy
I also think that the BLU spells are the one that can be seen in Altana View, there's 5 of them:
Seedspray (Single-target damage and Defense Down. Absorbed by 3 shadows)
Noisome Powder (40% Attack Down)
Asuran Claws (6-hit Melee Attack) *Probably same skillchain properties as Asuran Fists I hope*
Insipid Nip (Single target damage and absorbs a random attribute)
Purulent Ooze (AoE Damage, Bio, and Max HP Down) *note: Not sure how Max HP down would work on a mob, but it's accompanied by a blue magic casting animation in the altana viewer*
When they talk about Kick improvement, they could also mean upping how much you kick, not just increasing it's power. I don't know how useful that'll be I guess...
Cool, its a little server game of pixie conservation now i guess. Kill them and the whole server might well suffer x.x well, at least pixies put up a good fight - for EP ive seen them kick some ass on someone trying to kill one and i can only imagine the unholy hell a T one in grauberg can open.
I hope SE didnt give a pixie spell for BLU >.> though that Zephyr Arrow TP move looks nice.
MNK has a wide enough margin over NIN in tanking chariots to only have maybe a PLD as competition for the top spot especially in runs where cells are rare (hi2u Arrapago) and they double as DDs so monk gets the best of both worlds in Salvage. Mainly the only problem with MNK atm is the issue with HNM-tier monsters where they arent as desired as a 2-handed melee.Originally Posted by LD
Monk is one of the few jobs in the game that is near balanced, which is why its hard to make something better than it already is. The job has few shortcomings and versatility on its side, it doesnt need a mass revamping like many other jobs in the game atm.
Blue Mage - heres to hoping BLU gets Boiling Blood instead of Demoralizing roar
Asuran Claws looks like they might have potential, so does Spiral Spin at lower levels.
