    Power Supply Issue

So was moving a computer around today and went to hook it back up and the light on the back of the power supply is blinking and making a clicking noise and won't turn on. I'm suspecting for some reason the power supply went bad, but any suggestions would be welcomed.

Other than that, how do I go about replacing a power supply if that's what I need to do?

If it's clicking and has a warning light on it, it likely is either getting too much or too little voltage (you're plugging it into a bad outlet, solution is to get a voltage regulator/UPS) to it, or it just failed entirely. Since you just moved it, it could be the former, so try a different plug. If you get the same result, a power supply is easy enough to replace. Check the wattage on the current, buy a new one of same or better wattage, remove old ones from the case and install the new one. Just take note of what is connected where, and when you install everything make sure you take care to tuck the unused wires away from everything else.

It could be worse. You could have plugged it back up and got a black screen of death like I did. Thus equaling a few hours trying to pin point the problem. I finally got it down to the mobo or the CPU. Thats when I said @#$#@% time for a new one.

that shit sucks hardcore, you're lucky you didn't end up with this because i ended up spending 50$ to have a guy tell me I needed to buy a new computer because of the same black screen of death

MY friend told me to have it tested for 50 bucks. But I figured why not test most of it myself and save the 50$ and put it towards something new for my computer. So there I was taking the Mobo out of the tower to make sure there wasn't a short. Then I removed the sound card. Then I took out 1 stick of ram. Then I swapped the ram. Then I swapped the placing of the ram. I test the ram on another PC. I then tested the PSU on a older machine.

The fun part about a computer is when a part goes out. It sometimes wants to bring a friend on the journey. For me I think my CPU went and decided to bring my MoBo along with it. I guess I can't complain IT lasted 3 years and the only thing to go on it before now was the HD.
