I think that reference is kind of irrelevant. My statement was in reference to realism in terms of the Terminator universe; thought that was obvious, considering Terminators in general don't exist, to begin with - regardless of how plausible their design actually is. By your logic, if Derek dodged the bullet, tore the Terminator to shreds using his bare hands, and left without even a scratch on him, it wouldn't matter because the show already "throws realism out the window."
In other words, it's very realistic for a Terminator to be able to just headshot a human and walk past like nothing happened.
