I guess them renewing Dollhouse is the same as them renewing T:SCC for it's 2nd seasons despite lower ratings. They want to give the show a chance before canning it. Still no excuse for T:SCC since, despite the low ratings, it was one of the best shows on TV.

The problem is that they don't seem to want to pull a repeat of Firefly. Cancelling a show that quickly grew to cult status and made a lot of money in the movies. Since they fucked Whedon on Firefly they want to give him some time to work his magic with Dollhouse. Dollhouse just isn't that good. There's plenty of eye candy sure. But it's just not making an impact. At least SCC made an impact and had enough shit going on to keep people coming back. And with the new Terminator movie coming out, that would have boosted the ratings, if even temporarily. Fuck Fox. Let's hope it gets picked up by Sci-Fi.

NEW YORK – The Fox network is making a play for laughs next season, with four new comedies planned and a late Saturday-night series with Wanda Sykes.

"Glee" uses a pop-music soundtrack for an aspirational high school series and starts in the fall after getting a special preview Tuesday. Former New York Giant Michael Strahan is in a series about an ex-NFL star who goes back to live with his mother, and Fox is also doing a "Family Guy" spinoff.

"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" was canceled, but the low-rated "Dollhouse" was surprisingly brought back.

Fox will also air the summer hit "So You Think You Can Dance" in the fall.

That also could have been because those particular sets were no longer needed. I mean John was jumped into the future, and we can assume S3 would focus on that part.

It doesn't matter now though.

I know they had talked about canceling it when brain austin green was considering leaving the show after the second season unless the third was going to be good. Once he got the writeups for the third season he immediately signed on.

Another classic fox fuckup. But the earlier reports of the show being canceled were all false speculation, fox dropped the bomb because they wanted to see if their shit comedies would work. I do hear scifi is in serious talks about picking it up though, which wouldnt be the first time a show passed over by networks was amazing (burn notice, leverage, eureka)

I can only hope that Sci-Fi does pick it up. I jumped on board after I picked up the first season on dvd. I'm hooked. Well that I love Summer Glau and would do terrible things that are unspeakable in the words of man to her.

The one thing that worries me is if Fox had exclusive right to the show like they pulled on Firefly. If you remember that killed the entire notion of Sci-Fi channel picking up Firefly because I think it was a two year buffer before they could even begin discussions with Whedon because of the contract he signed with Fox. If they pulled this with SCC it's over and done. Such a fucking waste. All this for Michael Strahan.
