    RDM/NIN Charybdis

    http://belkinator.livejournal.com/

Since a lot of people have taken interest in my LJ for a variety of things, I figure I'd let you guys know when I updated it.

Latest is post is RDM/NIN vs Charybdis.

I usually don't proofread (For actual content or grammar) or spellcheck after I'm done, so if you see some glaring mistake, let me know.

Without reading it, is it more efficient/easier than with /BLU?

Bio III and Poison II are your main offensive weapons. Make sure both are on at all times and Charybdis will lose about 1% HP per minute. You can toss a Blizzard III if you have MP to spare, it will usually take off 2% HP, speeding* up the fight substantially*.

? good stuff, the add and mpk attempts sound like fun.

    Fixed.

Sometimes I am thinking one thing and typing another. Such a bad habit.

I have seen Charybdis here, before any of the doors, around M-11.
It was a joke watching the RDM kite it there, but I guess getting it there is probably the worst part.

    Nice read though.

You could definitely get it there, but it would be suck on so many levels getting it there solo (or even duo) without dying, without aggroing, and without somebody stealing it along the way.

Prolly pulled it there to make it easy/keep tod. If you can get chary by the pond or by a place you can kite in a circle it's incredibly easy to kill. Actually, that really applies to most NMs that walk @ normal speed lol :3

    RDM/SMN.

Charybdis won't lose aggro on a pet it seems, so if you can keep carby out of range of his attacks for the duration of your trip up, the hardest part is done. His habit of losing aggro is the hardest part of moving it up.

Yea but you aren't gonna be soloing it as rdm/smn so it's kind of moot. Maybe in duo but definitely not solo.

    Re: RDM/NIN Charybdis

/BLU and a good damage reduction setup seem more efficient to dot - kite him in the room, but if /NIN also works its nice to know.

I had some ideas about soloing him in the past using RDM/BST, the idea was to throw a Manta to charby and silent oil - Powder boots to the upper level pond and just dot kill there, RDM/BST also gives another Bind tool so seemed like a good plan.

With claim competition there Charm could have been also a good tool to claim (bind) - Gravity - silent oil - powder boots and go up without using a pet.

Then got 3 friends to help and claim one night and just never really tried :/

Out of curiosity, wouldn't /PLD be decent for Charybdis you think? Sent + Phalanx would make you pretty much invincible for a few secs if you get caught with Bind/Grav down, a form of Stun, and constant 1/tick...it seems to be as good as /BLU if not better, if all that /BLU is getting you is Cocoon.

Edit: lol was going to yell at you about your Ix'MNK maps Belkin, looks like someone beat me to it though!

    Re: RDM/NIN Charybdis

Ive solo'd it 4 times for friends as rdm/whatever.
I just drag it out to the pond in front of the gold door. The only buff I keep on is refresh, everything else is a waste of mp imo, since it only ever gets to attack me maybe once the entire time. Its not as hard as you would think getting it there either, it losses aggro alot though. You just have to reclaim it with bind in a spot you wont aggro stuff, then resneak yourself, wait for bind to wear, and start running again. Personaly, I find auto regen to be the most helpful thing you can get from a sub job for charybdis, so I tend to go /blu for extra damage (vorpal blade) while killing PHs since I just melee them to death.

The other good thing about fighting it there, is that every trip and a half around the pond it losses aggro and just sits in the same spot for about 20 seconds, giving plenty of time to re-refresh yourself, cast bio/poison or nuke it without any fear of it attacking you. It can also be fun to let it unaggro by fishing bots for a good laugh.

The only downside is that if there's people who will steal it from you, you have to try real real hard to not let it come unclaimed, and thats kind of impossible. So youre pretty much going to lose it.

Eh.... With NIN you get shadows anytime you can apply... Sentinel recast is kinda long and you don't want the chance of getting interupted cause he broke SS and hit you for 5 damage.

    Re: RDM/NIN Charybdis

Done this as RDM/NIN myself. I don't have /BLU leveled either, so i had to try. Used defense food, kept all other buffs up, used Terra, Jelly, and Umbra cape for -damage taken. For the most part it was pretty solid, but the times where it would get a full round of attacks in sucked more then they would have if I was /BLU i imagine.

for the bind off too random or so fast some times, i believe it is due to the damage done the dots which breaking the bind.
