Basically this became a rampant problem, because nowadays you can get gear from PVP Battlegrounds that's almost as good as gear 10 and 25-man raiders can acquire early on, and sometimes as good or better. You play Alterac Valley, a 40 on 40 battleground, and 20 people on each side would just be AFK in the cave, using scripts to keep their characters from being disconnected after being AFK for more then 10 minutes. People would run bots that would auto-queue them into a battleground, then idle them until it ended, which meant they could do zip towards the outcome of the battle, and still get the full reward of bonus points and marks to spend while everyone else did the work for them.In our continued efforts to support fair gameplay in World of Warcraft and to provide a positive experience for players, we are currently taking steps to ensure fair and enjoyable competition in the Battlegrounds. Starting immediately, we will be issuing warnings and penalties, including suspensions and the removal of Honor points and recently acquired Honor rewards, for non-participation in Battleground games.
We are taking action against thousands of accounts immediately, and will continue to monitor these situations and regularly take action against violators. If you encounter a player in a Battleground who is intentionally not participating in the battle for an extended period of time, please help us track the situation and report the player as AFK. For information on how to complete an in-game AFK report, please go here: (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/batt ... /info.html). All reports will be thoroughly investigated, and corrective action will only be taken if the violation is confirmed.
Thank you for your support and best of luck to you in all of your games in the Battlegrounds!
One guy openly admitted already he lost 50,000 Honor points, which is about 150 games, or at least 40 hours of Alterac Valley, and all the gear he had accumulated, plus all the gems and enchantments he had placed on them, which adds up to a decent amount of money at 70.
I could imagine if SE ever did something like this to the botters of FFXI, they won't, but work with me here...how many Ridills and Adaman Hauberks would go bye-bye. Lawl, hilarity ensues!
