you install what you want
vs.
have to go through itunes, probably needs to pay
everything needs to be approved by Apple before release
Because having your iPhone crash every update is awesome right?
If you're looking for minimal business features and expanded services the Duo is a much better phone pound for pound. If you're looking for heavy duty working and management features, then you'll probably want the Blackjack. I do know this, my sounds are crystal clear on the Pantech, and the full-size keyboard is perfect for sending messages and e-mails. It supports Windows Mobile Live and Mail, so that's good enough for me. You can also subscribe to XM, WebTV, and various other services and there is full Java support. Also, unlike the iPhone, it can be updated manually and all updates must be confirmed instead of just installed without your consent. It also supports a lot of third party applications and the battery can be replaced instead of having to ship the phone completely back.Originally Posted by Tyche
The sound and video quality is pretty great too. If you're looking for a multimedia phone I can see why you'd like the iPhone... but if you're just looking for a good phone with great features and a good interface, then the Duo is a really great phone. Oh, and right now there's a rebate that gives you back $100 for buying it and subscribing to six months of 3G Internet Services. iPhone has a nice pricetag of $399-$499 even with a contract and you get no other options.
huh? The jailbreak iphone doesn't crash if you update, you just lose all the functionalities a jailbroken iphone has. You're confused with jailbreak vs unlock.Originally Posted by Neosutra
Fact is, a jailbroken phone already has more functionality than the recent update, and probably will still be more functional when the SDK comes out.
What idiot with a jailbreaked phone would even update? So I can get iTunes on my iPhone? Wow...yeah thats totally worth losing the PSX.
on my ipod touch using psx4all 0.1, when i try loading Ridge Racer Type 4, it just goes to a black screen and doesn't do anything
i went to the psx4all forums and they said something about having to donate to get the latest version or something, i didn't spend a lot of time reading all the posts to really summarize everything there
i'd love if someone could point me in the right direction though, i'd love to try FFT![]()
I still get support for my Apple ][e!Originally Posted by riddaraan
What he said. I have just left my jailbreaked one alone and nothing has ever happened. If you are worried about iTunes then you are an even bigger idiot.Originally Posted by Lockecole7
I was more worried about the "unforseen" and the fact that 3rd party software will soon be able to added in a more structured way. With a system that has alot of upgrades and improvements in its future, and some exciting new things coming, I would rather wait for those programs to come legitemately than not be able to get the new updates.Originally Posted by Weltall
I'm so sure that the newer firmware will never get jailbroken that i won't update it rite?
How exactly is it more "structured"? You download your aps, and the icon is on the home screen. How much better could it be formatted? lol
i got me a pantech duo two weeks ago or so i love it the only real complaint i have about it is the sound as a phone kinda sucks but that goes for most pda phones i like it!only reason why i got it over a iphone is because i fucking H A T E touch screen shit -_-;
iphone is the shit. SDK is going to own it 10x
Hmmm I have installer, and they say to find Squid or Finder in order to Set the Permissions to 755 for psx4all.app. I can't find either, nor can I find anything on google regarding the two. Any help?
use winscp or total commander to ssh into ur device and set ur permission from there.Originally Posted by Lockecole7
When you say something is "the shit", that's generally a positive connotation. Just call it "shit" if it's bad.Originally Posted by RustyMetal
I just got an AT&T Tilt and it's pretty boss. Of course, it's quite a bit more money than the Pantech Duo. I ended up paying $250 after a $100 rebate and a $50 discount for being with AT&T for 2 years. I ended up getting a 4 gig microSD card through Amazon for about $35-$40 afterwards too. Review
The wifi works great for me, didn't have any problems connecting to my home and any other open sources plus there's no monthly charge for it. The 3MP camera is pretty fuckin great too, but you have to hold the phone reaaaally steady and it takes a few seconds to focus when taking pictures (which can be annoying because it'll make all sorts of noises making you think it took the picture before it actually did). The zoom sucks just like any other camera phone and is only usable at lower qualities.
Battery life is meh, I wouldn't depend on it as an MP3 player because the battery will just draaain. It doesn't effect me as much since I don't use the phone for much more than sending/receiving calls and texts besides the occasional web-check. But if you're going to pay this much for such a phone you should make good use of the features unlike me, so the battery basically sucks.
One of the most annoying things about the Touch ipods is that the mobile Itunes does not have podcasts on it. That was a big killer for me.
