Seriously, that might have been the most ignorant post I've seen on BG that was serious. I got mine the first day it came out, and had it broken since the first day the installer hit the scene. Mine has never had any problems.

It's just like modding your PS2/Wii or downgrading your PSP firmware. There's always a risk in bricking, but I don't think it's a widespread problem at all. It was an easy step by step thing for me.

Ok...well I'm having some issues finding the IP Address for my iPhone, whenever I try and connect using wi-fi to something it always says can't connect, and I can't seem to find my IP Address. Nothing shows up on the IP Address part when I go into where it should be, everything just stays blank. (yeah I've had it for awhile, never have bothered with wi-fi as I dont use it much.

What's funnier is the guy that came in, obviously broke it (whether on purpose or not), got pissed we wouldn't upgrade his 4g to an 8g for free and give him service (which we don't even bother with), that on the way out he spiked his iPhone on the floor and it shattered into 100+ pieces and he ran like a little girl out of the mall.

It's neat this topic surfaces again...

I just received my 16GB iPhone yesterday and I'm loving it so far... only thing is the lack of flash in Safari and the relatively short battery life compared to my old phone (it could seirously last a week straight on 24/7). Mind you, there's a lot more going on in the iPhone so I forgive it. :nikkei:

Yah just found it recently, thanks. And also referencing the whole flash thing, supposedly there is a flash viewer that just doesnt cut it, and full on Flash the iPhone couldnt handle, so they say if they can find a median point in between the two, Flash for the iPhone will be very possible.

Also, anyone know a good way to get wifi (potentially illegally...). I see a lot of possible connections but I'm usually not able to connect to any of them. Kinda a pain. =/

What's wrong with the iphone wifi (or am I not understanding the question)? Mine works great (and it is jailbroken).

In that case, yeah, just restore the phone and return it. Ziphone (I think) has an option to virginize an iphone to an "out-of-box" state so just use that, or use the itunes restore mode.

Dunno if it voids the warranty but there is a company called Colorware that will totally trick out your electronics devices, including iPhones. I'm totally considering doing this. I dunno if the paint will void the manufacturer's warranty.
