Am I missing something, or are there absolutely 0 pieces of gear outside of Deadeye Gloves or Mercernary's Dasatanas that are even remotely useful as RNG hands between Noct+1 at 30 and CFG's at 73?

Pretty sure that's it. Having the same trouble with my COR.Originally Posted by Callisto

Completely unrelated, anyone know if Wivre Shield synth requires Smithing sub?
Got hit for 113, 115, 131, and 137 from the main, and the others hit me for 62~78. This is SAM/WAR w/ Berserk and meat.Originally Posted by Ferien

There is no way a MNK can kill the red MR before his 2hr is up... I spend at least half of the time trying to get back into range to melee it, giving me maybe 20 seconds of HF.Originally Posted by Ferien
SAM has a major advantage here because you can choose when to utilize your 2hr. So you can hit your WS macro as soon as you get back in range and have it do damage before you get knocked out again, and you get 30 seconds to get 3 weapon skills in before your 2hr finishes. It only takes 6-7 seconds to actually expend that TP after using the 2hr.
I will try keeping the WHM char back a little further and running in to sleep the boss after seeing Empty Seeds go off. I think my problem last time was that the WHM got hit by the red MR's seed, so I never got a chance to originally cast. If I can sleep the boss thing, I can kill the red MR, I know that much.
If a lazy player were to level warrior but didn't want to level samurai sub yet, would there be any stages where g.axe would outshine axe/axe if the lazy player went from 37-75 as war/nin?
I'm going /NIN until 70 because my LS static is RDM BLM BRD WAR WAR THF, and I'm pretty sure Seigen-less Third Eye isn't going to cut it for bouncing hate, even with Carnage Elegy. The other WAR is using axe/axe because his gaxe is too underleveled, but I've been using gaxe since hitting 60 (61 now). Our THF just hit 60 as our last party ended, so he was still doing SATA+WS on the other WAR, with me doing the initial voke. Once I learned Raging Rush, it was really a tossup where the hate was slanted on a per-mob basis. So I'm thinking that my plan to use gaxe for everything but 54-59 (I have two axe merits) is sound, even with no /SAM until 70. It is a darn shame, too, since WAR can get a 6-hit at level 60, but such is life.Originally Posted by Shuemue
(My SAM is almost 35 at the moment; it's gotten there via a combination of WotG soloing, pet soloing, Campaign Ops, and a LS trio on pets and worms. SAM is pretty good at taking on pets as /BLU, or worms as /DNC. Yeah, I go to some lengths to avoid pickup exp.)
WAR/MNK -> 30, switch to WAR/THF.Originally Posted by Shuemue
WAR/THF -> 55, switch to WAR/NIN dual axes.
WAR/NIN (dual-wielding) -> 70, switch to WAR/SAM.
WAR/SAM -> Ridill.
Basically. If you insist on Great Axe only, then you can just extend the WAR/THF stage or switch to WAR/NIN and just be gimpy. You'll be out on the benefits of Hasso but it's not huge. Also, WAR/SAM 70+ is the best possible combo unless you have a Ridill and even then it's still better in most situations.
I don't have /thf levelled either, so I'll just gimp it up war/nin and keep both axe & g.axe levelled, then get /sam later.
Of course, I'm so lazy I'll probably wake up and fancy a different job tomorrow.

I'm usually allmost one shotting Aqua MR as you have time to boost like a mofo; so when i engage on red MR i have like 20 ish tp. Pop hundred fists, hits hits hits hits, raging fist when tp, and red MR is usually:
1) dead way before hundred fists wear off or 100tp came back again; if you been a lucky mofo evading empty seed, having lots double attack, crits, whatnot... (happened one time were i only had to use chakra, found that pretty neat)
2) dead like 1-2 attack round and/or WS after hundred fists wear off cause you bounced in every corner of the arena and had to spam potions.
Sure, sometimes you cant move a finger as they time seeds way too separatly. That's usually the only reason you die in. But after like 20 runs (with no drop obviously), its really not a hard enm to solo.
Or you can try the lazy method i'm sometimes use when I, well, feels lazy![]()
I wing, raging fist aqua. run around looking for an inocupated corner. die. reraise, wait 5 min, pop hundred fists, run straight to red. sometimes kills it before it even does first empty seed![]()
Unfortunately, that requires the MR not doing Empty Seed long enough to actually use HF (which lasts 45 seconds). The first Empty Seed typically comes just as I'm engaging the red one, for me. Even if I can get on the red one sooner, the Empty Seed will follow close after. Then you get knocked back and the brigade of knockbacks start, and you get maybe 20 seconds of HF on the thing in total as I described above.Originally Posted by Silpha
Does the red MR not draw you in at this point? I thought as soon as you aggrod it, it could draw you in, but if it requires hitting it first then I might try this.Originally Posted by Silphia
Both my character and my wife's character have MNK so if I can solo it then I'd like to do it on both, for double the chances. I just don't see how it's done, yet, maybe only due to bad luck.
Do you loose AF items in storage / AH items / or d.box items when you world shift?
You lose AH and DBox items, but it should keep stored items. Stored AF is controlled by the key item, and since that migrates with you, it shouldn't be an issue.
I'm fighting this with autotarget, so when i'm Draw in i just tap 2 times 'S' (playing on keyboard) to make me do a step back and keep punching. As much as empty seed send you far away, draw in saves lots of time to get you right at MR. And as you're under hundred fist, you got lots hits going on untill next empty seed.Originally Posted by Wizerd
But as stated allready, sometimes is a run where seeds are not 'timed' (aka your brigade of knockbacks), cant really do anything when it happens. You just been unlucky if it was your only experience with it ^^'
Well, not like it requires being hit for waking up, but if you are in a place with no agro, you can draw weapons, use food and activate every JA/2hour without being in agro range. Then when you run to him, by the time it agro, "activate" itself, and begin to empty seed, you are allready beating the hell out of it, maybe sometimes allready killed it. This being as i said sooner, with autotarget on (the one in config menu, or 'H' on keyboard), so if MR is stupid enough to draw in, it just made you reach it even fasterDoes the red MR not draw you in at this point? That's everything i know about this ENM. I died my share doing it the 'normal' way, and even doing the reraise way (gotta love waiting in a corner to be killed with 45 hp, only being miss by Contemplator, miss by empty seed, miss again by Contemplator, then drawed in in the middle and killed here :D ); but after some runs, you'll find it an really easy way to try for a T.ring without having to wait for anybody ^^
I'm going to cry if you're wrong because I have too much AF to take it all out of storage lol... Might just take the important ones out just incase. >.>Originally Posted by Ferien
How do Elemental Staves apply to the damage of Nukes? I know they do... just have no idea why I came to that conclusion or what I can do to test it.
Straight percentage increase to the damage of the nuke, applied before (really? I thought it was after...) all other bonuses come into play. NQ is 10%, HQ is 15%.Originally Posted by XanthePandy
It's before most of them yeah, but what's most important for practical purposes is that it's independent of the rest of them, so you get the full 10%/15% bonus.
