    Swords have a 2 classes in XI, unofficial in regards to in game text, official to programming / real life.

    Rapier Class : Piercing
    Everything else : Slashing.

    (Imo, curved swords like Ridill/Sapara etc should go as blunt)

    I tried to look up the history of a Guespiere since this games seems to have plenty of historical and mythological content, but had no luck. Before I just go and test it, can anyone conform if Guespiere is indeed piercing or that Bilbo's are really slashing

    What would a DNC/NIN at 75 want to be using for main and offhand weapon? Would Matron's Knife or Heartsnatcher be on the list?

    I was concerned at first about using Joyeuse offhand, but it really works fine with sushi (I have a Suppa but no sword merits). I use a Jambiya mainhand because I only use my DNC main when SE releases new WotG missions for me to solo (if I'm not using BST). I think someone mentioned Behemoth +1 did better for them. If you don't have Joyeuse, the Cobra knife looks like a good offhand option; it's certainly the fastest.

    What are the names of the gorgets used for all three SAM ws's. I looked on otherwiki and coulden't find which ones they are n_n

    they are:
    Yukikaze - Breeze/Snow
    Gekko - Aqua/Snow
    Kasha - Flame/Light/Shadow
    you need 2 gorgets minimal to cover all 3.

    all the gorgets add the same ftp and accuracy bonus wise; snow/flame(only 2 yovra organs) best choice unless you have one of the others from previous jobs, or have jobs that would benefit from certain gorgets.

    If I were to solo the ENM50 in Vazhl on RDM, how many RR charges would I need, which sub should I use, and what are some things I should keep in mind? Anything other than Bio II stick?

    With regard to macros:

    For my nuking macros on RDM, I equip two snow rings using /equip L.ring/R.ring "Snow ring". Sometimes I get a red message that says "You were unable to change your equipped items." This only seems to happen if I have one of the two Snow rings already equipped. If both are equipped or if neither are equipped, there is no issue. Furthermore, if I only have one Snow ring in my inventory, there is no issue.

    Edit: It also happens if I try to equip one Snow ring while I have a Snow Ring/X Ring equipped. My idling macro has Snow/Serket in it and if I spam my idling macro, it gives me the same "You were unable to change your equipped items." each time I hit the macro.

    I think it has to do with the game trying to equip both rings into the same slot? Is there anyway to get around this, the red message is annoying.

    Don't put them in consecutive lines.

    /equip Ring1 "Snow Ring"
    /equip body "Errant Hpl."
    /equip neck "Elemental Torque"
    /equip Ring2 "Snow Ring"

    or something like that should be fine.

    Additional Effect : Fire, from Algol being an example.

    That's the way it is for the most part, but it's not that consistent. Epees are for the most part piercing, but mensur epee for example is slashing. Tutelary uses the rapier model, and is also slashing.

    I'm not sure about Guespiere, nothing is listed about it's damage type on any sites I see, however it's most likely piercing. There's really no reason to use it thou either way.

    What should I be wearing at 51 for SCH?

    I have...

    Full set of HQ staves
    Moldy earring
    Custom shorts
    Glamor Jupon
    Mycophile cuffs (ditched hq seers cos the -EMN on these is nice)
    Tamas ring
    Mannequin pumps

    But since I hit 50, I have access to antivenom (will use for resting anyway) and insomnia earrings. I have geist and morion available but figure the hp on insomnia is nice for sublimation?

    Basically I'm stuck wondering how much HP and MP gear I should be using. I could use intensifying cape, powerful rope, gold hairpin at this point but that seems a bit extreme. I have a red cape +1, intensifying, seer's crown +1, reverend sash, gold hair pin, and then for neck I could go promise badge or mohbwa sash +1. Should I gear more like a BLM which is stats heavy and forget mp?

    This is the problem when you still have all your SMN/WHM/BLM/BRD gear from 20-75... and don't have rdm experience to help.

    I have mind and int ring, I switch mannequin pumps out for custom boots if I need to nuke - just not sure exactly what should be in or out at this point...

    Been about a month since my last DRK question and heres another one. A few things have changed since then. Current setup (TP/Guillo/High Eva Guillo):

    I'll be upgrading Chs. Sollerets soon and I'm curious if they will be better than rutters for guillotine. It seems like sollerets+1 > rutters but I'm not totally sure how +5mnd will effect anything with the modifier only being 25%. Hell, I don't totally understand how they work so if someone would like to explain that as well it would be cool.

    Also, I've been WSing in Snow gorget over Chiv for about a week now and seem to like it. I believe I read somewhere that someone did a test with fast blade or something that showed the second hit's acc being raised by 5% as well as the first? Does anyone have a link to this test?

    Any other suggestions? In the previous link I was using pcc in TP but it was a friends...It will be my next project.

    HP gear is mostly irrelevant for sublimation at that point, since it only determines the upper cap, which you will rarely reach at that level, since you don't have stoneskin and can't rest without it. Even once you get stoneskin, I wouldn't bother, since the gains from having more HP are very minor. Other than that, just gear as you would gear your BLM and WHM at that point, depending on what you are doing, of course.

    Chaos Sollerets +1 vs Rutter Sabatons
    Initially;
    5STR 5MND vs 3STR 5Attack
    After STR=>ATK adjustment;
    5STR 3~4Attack 5MND vs 3STR 7~8Attack
    Cancelling identical stats;
    2STR 5MND vs 4~5Attack

    5MND will give you Floor{Floor(5 * 0.25) * 0.83}, = 0 (0.83 is the "Alpha" value at 75) imagining you go from 0STR and 0MND=>5MND. However, your stats are much different from that.

    Using your stats, comparing WSC (weaponskill mod),
    Rutter Sabatons:
    STR: 103
    MND: 53
    WSC: Floor[Floor{(103 * 0.25) + (53 * 0.25)} * 0.83], = 32

    Chaos Sollerets +1
    STR: 105
    MND: 58
    WSC: Floor[Floor{105 * 0.25) + (58 * 0.25)} * 0.83], = 33

    For your build, Chaos Sollerets +1 would add 1 extra WSC mod (like having 1 more DMG on your weapon, basically), and you'd also have a ~50% chance of getting an fSTR bonus from the 2 extra STR (which would be like another 1 DMG).
    4-5Attack on a DRK is unlikely to produce a result as high as that due to your attack being very high anyway.

    As for other comments etc;

    In your high acc Guillo build, you could sub in a Potent Belt and keep Black Cuisses, end up with more net accuracy and more net str/attack
