    Re: Randomer Question Thread

    idiotic blm question:
not too long ago i got morg robe, then over the weekend i got pants too. it got me to pondering my gears and at that point i realized that for non-ice based nukes, i'd managed to dip my elemental magic skill down to 317, 3 below the suggested limit. i'm fully merited on ele mag (though my int is obscenely lacking in merits b/c i've had so many other 75's to merit and no time to get merits for them... ><) but i just can't see where to swap out to buy back that last 3 ele mag i need. my current gearset is as follows:
    HQ staff /Staff strap /---- /phantom
    Src. Hat /prudence&uggalieph/novio/moldavite
    morg bdy/wzd+1 gloves /snow/tamas
    prism /pen rope /morg/src+1 shoes

the only thing i can think of is to get the ix'mnk cape, but i've had awful luck on getting him to drop and just don't have time to try to solo him anymore, what with raids, salvage, work, and other RL stuff taking up the entirety of the day. is that my only option and am i pretty much stuck with trying to find time to kill him until he finally puts out or am i missing another option? if i switched to the mnk cape, i'd also have to scrounge up another 3 int to cover for the loss when i'm on my uggalieph pendant. the first obvious fix is to swap the lolstaffstrap (yeah. i know. i'll get to it eventually. i have some bugard leather lying around, i just want a shiny signed one.) for a bugard+1 and then stack merits to finish out the rest, but that's still 150,000 xp i'd have to get in addition to the cape. any of the pro blm with more wisdom than myself have any input on my predicament?

Nashira Crackows have +5 Elemental skill on them (and 2 MAcc), whereas your Sorcerer's Sabots+1 have nothing in that regard. Would be a similar INT tradeoff as swapping your cape out as well.

thought of that too, and i do have a pair of them, but i really like the conserve MP on the boots. laugh if you like i guess. i wish i could calculate macc vs ele mag so that i could figure out how my morg hands will play in once the 25's drop...

Senjuinrikio mainhand with Unji, Fudo, etc in your offhand is what I'd go with for merit parties. Mamushito +1 x2 for solo for the added effect stun.

Spekkio: I don't think 3 skill will be that significant, but I would totally wear Nashira over AF2 feet. With that said, I don't think it'll make much difference overall.

yah. i know my feet choice is kinda unorthodox, but based on my calculations, they're almost exactly equal to yigit in mp/damage ratio, and since overkill on a mob doesn't do extra, i find them to be more MP efficient. not out to change minds, just curious for other's opinions. that said, since 320 is the sweet spot for HNM, it may be a good idea to plug them in for top end crap like nuking wyrms and stick with af2 in places like dyna where i don't have as much time to rest.

Question of my own: is there a pattern of assaulting I can do so that I can do both Salvage and Nyzul?

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

For a long time we did 3 Nyzuls one day a week and 4 Assaults the other day, which (if RvB) is good for four and a half salvage runs a week. Since we ended up getting a backlog of AP, we switched to 4 Nyzuls, 3 RvBs. If someone isn't captain they have to be diligent about getting their tags in advance so they don't get hit with a reset at the NPC, but once you get captain that worry goes away, too.

On the BLM question, I use AF2+1 feet the vast majority of the time, too. I think your gear is pretty good (I actually use nearly the exact same gear); don't put too much stock in hard numbers like 320 as was discussed in a recent topic. On stuff that doesn't resist often, you can use zenith or morrigan cuffs without issue, and as you move to more resistant mobs swap out the hands back for AF1+1 and torque for Elemental, cape to Merciful when you get one. Then if you're still not satisfied, try Nashira feet as others have suggested, but I usually don't often, personally.

    Assuming no one is Captain, what would the pattern be? M T W T F S S

Lets go with 0, and that we'd be doing RvBs to access Salvage.

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

That's sort of what I'm asking, lol. Is there a pattern where we can do Salvage X times a week, and Nyzul Y times a week so that it's feasible to do both? If anything, the Salvage is flexible because I go with a different group, it's Nyzul I want to be structured. I think we'd do Nyzul 1-2 times a week if possible. For instance (this may be horribly messy and confusing):

    Monday: 4 tags, RvB x1 -> Salvage
    Tuesday: 4 tags, Nyzul x4.
Wedensday: 1 tag, RvB -> Salvage.
    Thursday: 1 tag, recharge.
    Friday: 2 tags, Nyzul x2.
Saturday: 1 tag, RvB -> Salvage.
    Sunday: 1 tag, recharge.

    Monday: 2 tags, RvB x1 -> Salvage.
    Tuesday: 2 tags, Nyzul x2.
Rest of the week same pattern as the last.

Hmmm, so doing Nyzul twice a week would make it so it would be only two runs a day, 4 per week. I guess that's the cost of doing business!

Did I do my math wrong by the way? Or is there a better way of doing it?

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

Basically the idea is you pick two days, spaced 3-4 days apart, and do 3-4 in a row. Then in the intervening days you pick up an extra tag so you don't ever get reset at the NPC. It helps if people are in the same Dynamis, Limbus, or Einherjar group to bracket it around those runs so that you are on a consistent schedule. The way we did it, we bracketted it around the Dynamis schedule that most of us had, which was Wednesdays 8pm, Sundays 5pm. So we'd do:

    Sunday 4pm 1 run
    Sunday 5pm Dynamis
    Sunday post-dynamis 3 runs

    Wednesday 6pm 3 runs
    Wednesday 8pm Dynamis

So what would happen is this: our Tags would be schedule to regenerate around 4:30 pm every day. By the end of Sunday we had 0 tags on NPC and none in our key items. Then at some point between Monday 4:30pm and Wednesday 4:30 pm, we had to pick up another tag so we wouldn't hit 3 on the NPC. Then for Wednesday runs, we'd burn the 1 in key items and the two on NPC and be back down to 0. Then we have to remember again to pick up a tag again at some point between Thursday 4:30pm and Saturday 4:30pm. If at any time someone forgot to pick up an extra tag, they could sit out the Sunday pre-Dynamis run and thereby realign the schedule for the following weeks.

You could really do this at any day and time, and you don't even need to have the buffer between the 1 tag and the 3 like we did on Sundays, for instance you could do 3 tags one day at 8pm and 4 tags 4 days later starting at 6:30pm, just as long as you start early enough that you will finish at least one run before the time your tags are scheduled to regenerate, and not so early that you are waiting around too long after.

Looks right to me and that is a good way to do Nyzul alot while doing Salvage some. Only 1 less Salvage/week then I used to do and Nyzuls to boot. I was thinking there would be no way to do Nyzul that much and Salvage but it looks right there. Make sure everyone gets tags early or it will maybe end up ruining one run/week on somthing.

This makes sense, but this is if I was JUST doing Nyzul. I need to use tags on RvB for Salvage as well. =( I'll apply what you said about the tag recharging though.

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

We did this with splitting nyzul and RvB. For a long time we did

    Wednesdays 3 RvB, Sunday pre-dynamis 1 RvB, Sunday post-dynamis 3 Nyzul
    or
    Wednesdays 3 Nyzul, Sunday pre-dynamis 1 RvB, post-dynamis 3 RvB

depending on people's schedules. Then eventually we switched to 4 Sunday Nyzuls, but that was after we had captain and we just do Wednesday 3 RvB, Sunday 4 Nyzuls without having to worry about tag regeneration, and don't really go to Dynamis anymore either lol.

SE apollyon first floor does drop the brown doeskin right?

the past 4 times I have done it, the first floor item chest has been giving me only coins. I do have 8 of the items that come from there already, so I'm assuming they have been the items that come up in the loot pool resulting in no drops. I thought maybe it would choose from the remaining pieces I'm able to obtain, but I suppose that's not the case.

This is sort of like what we do, except we're more heavily focused on Salvage than Nyzul. So we try to do however many tags we have as RvB on Wednesdays and Fridays (also just before our raids on those days), then 2 Nyzul runs on Sundays. To me, this just seems more convenient than trying to do a bunch of single-Assault days. Suiram's 3-4 split looks easier, especially since one of us isn't Captain, but I'm not sure all of us would get enough AP that way for the amount of Salvage we do.

An AP "buffer" is a really good idea too, so you might consider doing the first week all RvB if you're actually starting from 0 (or nearly so) AP.

I think it's supposed to drop from the first floor in SE, but have personally never seen it on that floor. I've seen it drop most often on the fourth floor of NW (Cynoprosopi, the wyrm) but that's probably just subjective.

    Good luck!
