Is Devotion based off of current or just max HP? Rather, do you just have to swap into HP gear and use it, or swap into HP gear, cure to full, then use it?

Job Ability

* Sacrifices HP to grant a party member the same amount in MP.
* Obtained: White Mage Level 75
* Recast Time: 0:20:00
* Duration: Instant

Notes/Description

* 25% of current HP is taken and converted to an equal amount of MP.
* You cannot do this ability if you have 3 or less hp. It will Devotion for 0MP.
* Each additional merit upgrade lowers recast time by 0:02:30
* The HP loss from this ability can be mitigated with Stoneskin
* Has a fairly short range and must be used close to the person receving it. (5-10 yalms)

gotta cure to full. stoneskin can take the edge off but won't increase the amount you devotion for.

There are 3 rice ball enhancing pieces of equipment now.

Combined with even normal Tonosama Rice balls that is pretty amazing. 150 attack +3 (or 15 if using the HQ) Double Attack from Food+head/foot/hand is pretty amazing. The Myochin Kote+1 and feet and nobushi kyahan even have decent (though subpar) stats alone.

Has anyone tested this?

isnt myochin kote+1 gives +100 instead of +50 attack from tonosama? or was that just a myth?

i have both items for upgrading af+1 but havent really bother to upgrade it, been rotting in my mog house for long time lol

I upgraded for a dex7 str7 item back in the day when that also meant att7 acc7 - I'll give it a try next time I remember to and let you know. (based on other AF+1 items I'd say it's a myth.)

Myochin Kote +1 is still 50 attack. So wherever you read that it gives +100 someone was probably wearing Roshi Jinpachi additionally or they were flat out wrong. Don't try and buy a Roshi Jinpachi on the AH find a CC and just have them made, otherwise you might be waiting a long time...

Edit: Whats up w/ you SAM's and not having AF+1 Hands already That was the first item I upgraded personally and has been my WS hand piece since I did it like 2 years ago. Theres hardly any other hands that beat that STR/DEX combo imo.

I bought Alky a while after I upgraded hands and it seemed like I missed every other WS since I didn't go /THF and I'm because Elvaan. Needless to say I sold it back quickly.

the accuracy difference in the dex overcomes the fstr and wsc bonuses. it's not even close. (of course, alky are better to use if you're overcapped on accuracy and don't actually lose 5% hit rate for dumping about 10 acc)

I'd say most sams should upgrade the head first if only to be able to store the nq set; you can ditch the nq wyvern helm if you didn't have a shura kabuto or +1 helm already too.

I'd highly recommend upgrading the hands for a ws macro too, but it wouldn't be as required as the kabuto+1 upgrade should be (although storage is cheaper these days).


edit: of course, if one is sam/thf then alky is the obvious choice for ws (SA will make you not miss).

So I've decided on a melee job to level and THF is probably it.

Was wondering if anyone has any guides/livejournals with extensive THF info? I'm also very curious about optimal gear setups. Random 75 THF's look nothing like eachother and it's hard to pick up on proper gear sets when they vary so much.

Dinged RDM75 last saturday. What do I solo for practice? I headed to sky to try and pop Despot but killing dolls takes a lot of resting MP and so is slow. I can't think of anything that I can pop easily or is already up that's not all too difficult for an AH RDM. Also, I don't want a regular mob cus there's no drop and almost no motivation. Advice?
