Honest: If you don't wanna take the time to solo stats to pop Despot, you won't be a very successful solo RDM.

Best Bet: Buy a genbu pop set and pop him. Hes quite easy to solo and gets you ready for long drawn out fights.

Getting Genbu pop items is definitely an option, I was considering it til I saw the Zip stone up for 600k in someone's bazaar. I dunno what they go for nowadays since I haven't paid a visit to Rolanberry Fields in a while, but if that's what it usually is I'll keep looking for something else. Something else I'm considering is the Brothers ENM though I haven't read up on it yet, I know someone who used to do that regularly.

Dinged RDM75 last saturday. What do I solo for practice? I headed to sky to try and pop Despot but killing dolls takes a lot of resting MP and so is slow. I can't think of anything that I can pop easily or is already up that's not all too difficult for an AH RDM. Also, I don't want a regular mob cus there's no drop and almost no motivation. Advice?

Honestly I wouldn't even dick with this stuff yet, especially not one outside of Despot. You don't need AF2 hat or Dalmy to pull off these solos, but you at least want capped Enfeebling merits, Aquilo's/Auster's, and relatively strong Bind set for things like Zip/SC. They aren't super hard once you get the hang of them, but they aren't easy either, even decked out RDMs still lose to them occassionally. An unmerited AH RDM is just not likely to win, although would probably stand a much better shot vs. SC than Zip.

Yeah, I didn't think I could pull off Zip at all. I only even attempted to pop Despot cus I read most of belkin's blog entries on sky NM's. I guess I'm back to pt's trying to cap enfeebling. At least now I stand a ebtter chance at invites than I did on my THF

If you're using string, the song radius is some function of your string skill (I think) plus the difference between your level and the level of the song (this part is certain).

At 225 string skill, Ballad I has 20' range and Ballad II has 13'. Adding +10 string skill bumps Ballad II up to 14'.

Deulist's Chapeau | Enfeeb. Torque | Loq. Earring | Magnetic Earring
Warlock's Tabard | Nashira hands | Tamas Ring | Balrahn's Ring
Altruistic Cape | Swift Belt | Nashira Legs | Nashira Feet

I'm not sure if I should pick up an enfeebling earring. I have full enfeebling merits if that changes your answer.

In terms of those Sky NMs that's definitely sufficient, more than what I have. I sit at 317 skill, +11 MAcc, and about 100 INT and do well enough to win the fights, albeit not as easily as I like(waiting on Chapeau/Altruistic to drop still). With what you have you should be fine.

Well you gotta figure it's either on your end or their end, if it's not yours then it's theirs, and it can be more than the game servers that went goofy.

May be like that Comcast thing that happened a few weeks ago, that was fucking weird. PC users on Comcast couldn't log on to FFXI, my laptop couldn't, but my 360 and PS2 attached to same router/Comcast service worked just fine.
