Okay, I really need help with this, as it has been driving me mad.
Ever since I upgraded to Windower 3.4, I've had a strange issue with ventrillo (again, latest version). When pressing my push-to-talk key, insert, my mouse pointer will appear on screen in FFXI. This is incredibly frustrating, as if I've recently hit something on the task bar (I play fullscreen FFXI and tab away), the mouse pointer will be sitting at the bottom of the screen, and will cause my camera to go fucky. Even ensuring that the mouse is at the center is annoying, as I still have to hit ESC to get it out of the way.
I am not sure that it is a windower issue, but as the issue began after my upgrade, it may be relevant.
I have tried changing my PTT key as well as settings on ventrillo that seem to relate to the use of that key. I have double-checked that windower does not use whatever key is designated as the PTT key. I have tried whining about it, yelling at it, and asking boys. All have failed me.
Is this a priority issue? FFXI does not use the Insert key for anything, but I believe Windower's default console key is Insert (I changed it to tilde).
Help would be monumentally appreciated.
In you Config Settings, there is an option under I think Misc that you can turn off the mouse being able to move your camera. That will fix the problem of the camera going wonky when your mouse cursor appears on the screen.
I don't know why it would have happened on the switch to 3.4, but maybe it has to do with focusing, etc.
Just as a side question, do you run XP or Vista?
I run XP.
I will try that setting when I'm home, but honestly I would really like to find the cause of the mouse appearing when it shouldn't, as even if it doesn't move the camera (which I've "fixed" by repositioning it every time in the center of the screen), I still have to ESC it away to resume using the keyboard for menus and such.
If you are on XP is sounds to me like that Vent is stealing focus from FFXI when using the PTT key.
I'll bet that it has to do with you running in full-screen mode on FFXI. Try running in windowed mode, but setting the size to be that of your desktop, maybe just a few pixels short in each direction. This is what I do and I keep FFXI on focus at all times. I also run 2 monitors, but I doubt that makes a difference between our two configurations.
Tried that; tried disabling the hardware mouse on the Windower GUI, tried changing the PTT key (again), tried adjusting mouse settings within FFXI, and hitting my computer with celery.
[edit, 29834738 years later]: After an extensive diagnostic (i.e. a five minute chat with Sono), seems with insert as the default windower console key, even changing it to a different one still causes muck ups, as windower still wants to think insert is its own. This explains why simply changing the ventrilo key did nothing. Have since restored the console key to insert and changed the ventrilo key, which works. Now its simply a question of training myself to hit a different button after four years of using insert.
[edit AGAIN]: this did not fix it.
Steel Cyclone WSNM Greenman, treant mob, other wiki has no useful info on it aside from a regen. Can 2 BLM duo it? Gravity land/stick?
RDM/NIN can solo it fairly easily, didn't have any Bind/Gravity resists so it should be fine if you have decent gear.
I been having the same problem with Ventrillo and the cursor popping up on my window. Two things different for me tho, I use Vista and I have it set as voice activation and not PTT. Got so pissed off because any time I was walking and happen to say something I would end up veering in a different direction, got so sick of it that I now run my Vent off of my laptop and FFXI from my desktop. Any suggestions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated, as it is the biggest annoyance ever.
Treasure Hunter doesn't affect ENM drops right? Or does it?
Hello;
do I need to have Hunter's Bracers +1 equipped during the shot in order to benefit from the extra shot, or will it work if I simply macro it for barrage and switch to Kote's during actual shot
Thanks in advance.
What filter hides when party members get poisoned and stuff? I have a lot on >>;
Speaking of weird "guards", do Vanguard Predators in Dynamis - San d'Oria have weaker Kicks than their main attacks, or did I actually guard twice on THF with Daggers on?
HF started and it hit me for 200ish twice, then ~60-70ish twice, then turned away, and I have no idea where the 60-70ish came in since I thought most mobs kicked at the same or near the same strength as their normal hits.
