A quick question: Will the weather reporter ever say something along the lines of there's going to be a heat spell in such-and-such zone or does it appear randomly when it's sunny?

Yes, the weather npc tells you about heat spells and whatever it is for fire x2, sunny and cloudy only means no weather.
I need help figuring out the best solo WS build that won't drop my HP in the process but still pump out a bit of extra damage and I'm open to suggestions.
Atm, I'm using this for solo'ing
Wep: Hades Sainti
Ammo: Fenrir Stone
Head: Ohat
Neck: Eva Torque
Ears: Brutal/Ethereal
Body: Arakan Samue (SH+1 if need acc)
Hands: Seiryu's Kote
Rings: Toreador's/Rajas
Back: Boxer's Mantle
Waist: Black Belt
Legs: Melee Hose
Feet: Temple Gaiters+1
My max damage Asuran build brings my max hp from 1759 to the mid 1.4kish range, which isn't really acceptable, so I reserve that for only when I'm under 1.5k hp, which means I'll need a new macro for when I'm above that.
For example I use temple cyclas+1 in place of shura togi on my secondary macro. I'm trying to save as much HP as possible and looking for suggestions. One of my biggest losses is if I put on any WS pants since I lose 6% hp. I was thinking to put a bomb queen ring in for one of my DD rings so I could put on usukane legs for ws.
Edit: also looking for suggestions to balance out the HP I lose on utsu macros
Can some one explain how /brd works in campaing?
Cast songs on yourself, after a bit remove tags, start over, get small packets of xp at a time like 200
thank yoU!
Wouldn't subbing whm and barspell spam do the same?
Would have to rest for mp, /brd is nice for being lazy.
Very true.
Is 2% cure potency worth 2 million gil?
Thanks to the generosity of a friend who is finally quitting (he's been drifiting for over a year) I've been left with a useful amount of gil. On a whim I put in a low bid for an aristocrats coat and won it (two up at the time). Initially bounced about it and then put some more thought into it and wondered whether actually it was worth it. I mean obviously it's nice but is it that nice?
I have a bit left, along with some gil I already raised, should I invest in a Novia? Together these two purchases would pretty much wipe me out. WHM is my main, I play BRD a fair amount too. SMN I play solo a lot and BLM I play when we have the job flexibility for me to do so (low on WHMs right now).
I did consider putting some effort into finishing cloth to 99 but it seems like throwing money away right now. Yes, it does mean I could potentially HQ my own nobles but 10 attempt is far more expensive than just buying the damn thing and I may not HQ anyway.
Is there something else I should be focusing on? I have a full set of HQ staves etc already.
SMN question: otherwiki and a quick search in older posts list elementals staves at -2 perp cost (-3 HQ), is that right?
My smn is level 50, and with carby mitts, austere robe and dragon staff I get a free carby, will a light/apollo staff at 51 give auto-refresh "back"?
So is it HQ staves > Bahamut's staff > NQ staves > Dragon staff?
Yes your gonna get MP back. According to the wiki, your gonna get a free carby with just gloves and HQ staff since it only costs 6 MP at 51. The staves are a little mixed up. I don't know if HQ staves give other bonuses besides -3 perp but if they don't, Bahamuts wins for -perp, +skill, and MP.
do +15% Crit hit from Thunder Staff apply to ranged attack?
Bahamut's staff> HQ staves> Astral Signa> NQ staves> Dragon staff.
this ofc no longer holds in lvl capped areas where signa and staff are inaccessible.
to correct a prior poster, no. you will not get 1 mp back, strangely. excepting when under the effect of astral flow, the autorefresh tick generated by your job trait will no longer function, even if you exceed the avatar's cost in - perp gear. this does NOT apply, however, to autorefresh gained from gear, or obviously refresh from status effects such as ballad.
Right now I have for my WAR Ulthalam/Rajas on my ring slots. Would Iota ring be better than Ulthalam? (3dex/vit/agi[?]/+3 acc) vs (4atk 4acc, assault stat).
Are you swinging Gaxe or a 1hed setup?
Is your total TP gear Dex before Iota around 105 or 115?
If you're using a 1her, it's .5 Acc for 4 Att, with Gaxe it's 1.25 Acc for 4 Att.
If you can swing a capped crit tier using it without having to make some other weird gear sacrifice, it would most likely be THE option to use.
Askar /Normal~Ancient/Brutal/ free
Berk +1~Ebody/Askar/ [___] /Rajas
Fora/Swift~Vbelt/Haid/Aurum
+36~46 Dex with the stuff listed there.
Basically you could do a +39~42 Dex build for Rid/Joy using the listed gear + Fort/Suppa/Iota instead of Fort/Pixie/Whatever.
As a taru War/Nin that would put me at 108~111 Dex (Lightning +1 being the +3 diff), and without Ebody I could push 113 + Pipira or whatnot for gaxe with my lolhollow.
If you have an Ancient torque then it opens up more slots to swap in other options, same with Ebody, but Iota could be used for certain builds with minimal sacrifices.
