Axe merits are only worth if you are a Ridill WAR (or a relic BST lol), put 8 on Polearm (since you said it's is your main) and save the 4 for pld for another DD job later.

Honestly I wouldn't even do axe merits with a Ridill unless you specifically enjoy the build, I'd just swordchuck it up since it's just a toy/TP feeder in the post 2h buff scene, and Pld would benefit from the 8/8 Sword, then you could toss in 8/8 Pole and still have 4/4 Shield (cause really, why have 75 Pld without shield merits?) for Pld any time you use it.
Well, I suppose I should have mentioned-
Drg is mostly retired, i only break it out for the occasional assault or event where going /mage is handy, i consider war/pld my new main(s). No ridill. Probably will just go with bandwagon greataxe, since ive already got nin, thf, sam etc leveled as subs for drg, and a berserker's axe. I'm thinking 4 polearm 8 great axe and then the rest in sword or shield, or maybe something else if I want to level another job later.
Again: before you do full Gaxe, are you using War for just merits, or harder targets, if it's just meriting and you enjoy axe's/dual wielding/want a change from a big 2her, axe's are an option. If you just want the big stupid numbers, gaxe will deliver with change, but I'd definitely consider 4 shield and at least 4 sword for Pld since it will make a more noticeable change than 4 extra gaxe merits would.
I'd use war for more than merits, it would be most all the time. If our LS's other pld (yes, we're small lawl) isnt there, or we need a second, I'd be filling in. Though I do plan on getting most of my merits on War.
If you're meriting at Birds with non-morons, a Drg is going to be desireable, but yeah generally a War will get invites faster, and Gaxe will take less effort to get up to speed.
Handily you can merit useful things for Pld with War, namely Sword and Shield (though you can do both on Drg I believe) so yeah, 4/4/8/4 would be my personal split there pole/ga/sword/shield.
Many people still enjoy their Ridills, and many others can't play WAR unless they are /NIN, for those, if they are a WAR/NIN with a Ridill, it is better to use it, instead of using a GA, why? BEcause a GA /NIN plain sucks.
But those usually have 8 sword/axe or 8 sword/soemthing else, 4 axe.
Anyone know what happened here?

You guarded. Had the same thing happen to be more against an Orc. It says it missed, but it just reduced it.
Do not agree at all. I use greataxe more often than my ridill by far. I don't care if I'm /sam or /nin or /pup. Ridill is really nice if you want to feed the mob a fuckton of TP i guess?
Only time a greataxe while /nin is dumb would be for merits.
In the end i just say leave it up to personal preference. Do you like hitting things with a big axe? Do greataxe merits. Like poking things with a pointy thing? Do polearm merits. Like spazzy swinging with a ridill? Do sword merits.
Super random question.
Was looking at the amount of people with said relic weapons and...
Why is Katana, not GKT, but Kikoku, the 4th most popular weapon? I understand the top 3, in fact I really don't even question the order, but why is katana 4th? It's been a while since I've played, and maybe I look at it as: I'd get something useful to more than just myself, rather then something to compliment/topoff my favorite job like maybe they are?
Has any mnk gone the max invigorate\chakra recast route? I'm only a salvage mnk so I'm wondering if I'll be better served doing this over the kick\counter. i was thinking counter\chakra recast and penn\invig
I'd say do kick/counter. Only way I see chakra recast being any help is if you only use monk to solo. If you use dune boots, 15% kick proc is like 15% DA proc (with brutal and /war) because the kick is more powerful than your punches, but even w/o dune boots it helps with tp gain and the small boost in damage, builds up over time for DoT, which should help with ahte and killing the chariots faster.
Unless you use Chakra right when its up, every time its up, I can't see a reason to merit it (and if so, what does your chakra build look like? because I also don't think it'd be worth it if you don't go balls to the wall in VIT gear to get max chakra potential).
Edit: as for group 2, Invig/Penance is perfect for you. I personally have Invig 5 penance 4 formless 1 (because formelss is useful at times and nice to have), but since you only use monk in salvage, no need to have it.
I've been looking into trying to solo Jailer of Fort. on my COR (with movement+). Haven't fought him before so was wondering if anyone could give me some times.
is the base damage bonus from SA calculated when you use the ability or when you take the swing?
Swing
realistically gkt was always a better weapon; kikoku is more popular because I think career ninja's find it more affordable in general. (not that it is; but that the sort of person who makes ninja a career job is the sort of person capable of regularly raising funds)
whereas sam is really one of the cheaper melee to level these days so there's more broke folks getting sam to 75.
I think alot of people who aren't aware of RK or another amano sam don't nec. realize how much better than hagun amano is and it becomes a sort of destroyers<->spharai problem.
I'm on 67 sam in the mire atm and the imps all check low evasion. Why the fuck am I parsing 54% acc atm?
