cap on a 330 defense mob that is 6 levels higher than you (~g.colibri) is about 2.3 Ratio (2.0 cRatio) for 1h/dw (monk) if the formula's endcap has not changed. this is an attack of about ~760.

a 2her assuming the same curve but a max cRatio of 2.4 would need a Ratio of about 2.7 or ~890

for each additional level a mob is above you you need +.05 ratio to cap. for each additional point of defense the mob has, you will need 1*Ratio additional attack to cap. - these need to be applied at the same time.

    ex. a 400 def level 90 mob needs a ratio of 2.75; 2.75*400 = 1100 attack for a mnk/dw.

making some basic assumptions about the dragon family a level 90 fafnir would probably have about 400 defense. (387 def + war def bonus traits) before (de)buffs

edit: about accuracy; a typical A+ rank 2h in traditional tp gear (haub/dusk/etc) should have slightly better than 90% accuracy on birds without food or songs. a sam/drg should be capped out. a melee wearing superior gear (like a sam/war in ace's/usu-shoes/hachi body etc) should also cap out and may even cap out vs. some mmj.

Homam body ends up being something around 2.5% TA bonus, which leads to a 5% average increase in attacks, and in addition, can proc on WSs. This generally beats out the extra 4% increase in attacks from the R. Harness, which functions for DoT only, not WSs. Homam also has the nice bonus of additional Def, HP, and 15 Acc (and MP, but for a THF I highly doubt this even matters). I know you said Acc wasn't an issue, but more often than not you aren't completely capped on Acc.
this kind of depends on how much TA we've got already too; since a thief with 15% TA will only get ~4.2% increase in hit rate from TA (and a little less than that in dps increase from ws procs since AC is going to sweeten ws TA procs pre-body further)

and it also depends on whether the thief is solo or not (add haste spell and march II and that raparee harness is giving you about 7.5% speed up which is a clear cut winner over ~4.2)

so, a solo 75 thief without TA merits - homam wins.

partied 75 with with TA merits? raparee wins.

of course; most thiefs will not be capped accuracy in non-solo situations (or at least; should be eating meat and de-capping acc if they are) so homam is the better choice in the real world; but for the purposes of the hypothetical - it comes down to the above points.

Looking for gear to use for forcing Sorcerer's Ring to proc. I've found a list of stuff that converts HP to MP on wiki but can't find a list for gear with HP- (ie: rostrums, tiphia). The only other gear i can think of that has -HP are hairpins, am I missing any good stuff with -HP? (that blm can wear, no shura!) Trying to force latent with as few items as possible and only zenith being the mitts (Who's laughing at the people in old LS who bidded on A.Head now )

Edit: I have mahatma pigaches already

    http://www.ffxiah.com/item_search.ph...escription=HP-

you're welcome. note: this list is longer than 100 items. to see additional items do a better filter. you can get the same initial filter by typing "HP-" in the description box of the power search.

edit: here is the list of items filtered to blm job only. 50 items, so that's everything.

    edit2: stuff that jumps out at me;

    tiphia sting
    solitaire cape
rostrum pumps(5 more hp down than mahatma)
    penitent's rope
fire/lightning/earth/wind rings (on day -15% hp)
    dark ring (-20hp +20mp int+1)

Even in the perfect situation, the advantage is barely 3% ignoring all other bonuses. I'll agree that pre-75 the Raparee Harness is pretty insane, but once you get the oppertunity to wear Homam body I would almost never look back. Plus it looks cooler.

3% is a pretty big difference honestly. (it's nearly double the difference for one thing ) it's not 3% more better. it's 7.5% vs 4.2% which is 78% better.

and again; I'm answering the question in the context it was originally posed (capped accuracy; 17% haste; unknown TA unknown party config). I agree that there's precious little reason to wear raparee over homam; not least because I would be surprised that there are many(any?) thiefs who are capping acc without sushi in situations where you would care about gear.

but since there's a bet riding on it - full disclosure within the confines of the original question is the way I went.

Ranperre will never beat homam unless you love the sushi, in which case you're already behind on the damage curve for not eatting meat.

The original question was posed with "75 THF with capped accuracy, Ranperre or Homam, which is better?"

When I swap in rapparee harness from my typical TP set (Homam body, hands, legs, Skadi chausses, turban, swift, X's/Blau) I gain on extra attack round during a 30 second feint. That's without march or haste spell. On many mobs the decreasing rate of evasion down isn't very noticeable. With feint every 2 minutes, I have the harness equipped a pretty decent amount of the time. However, you could compare the additional TA from homam and it may even it out. The benefit is marginal, but I do believe it's there.

Get one and put it in your macro for casting haste in merit pts.
That's what I figured. I don't know how to figure how powerful haste is, but if those stats kill any advantage of 5% haste (on top of a 20% in gear already) then it must be not worth is. As far as why I'd use staff, spirit taker is much more powerful for mp return than the club's equivalent. That, and it's always fun to see something with a 366 delay swing as fast as I can.

And yes, so far that's all the staff is good for, hasting my haste recast.

Why have I never seen a PLD use Kinkobo/Primate Staff/+1? It looks like a viable weapon to me, with pretty absurd DMG/Delay when using Pamamas. Are all staff WSes really that bad? Is there no way to exploit this pretty damn powerful weapon?

Can PUP AF quests be repeated and if so how do I go about doing that?

    Salmon Sushi:
Aside from FFXIclopedia and any copy pasta from it, I never see any other test mentioning this have ranged attack bonus (10%). Could anyone who have ever use this food prove/dispute this fact?

MNKs rip shit up with it on certain things. Spirit taker would be pretty badd ass though

back when pld was my only job at 75 and we used to have sometimes 6 plds at dynamis i would use kinkobo to dd while curing my party, i actually still own one. was using retribution when mp was ok and spirit taker when needed. 300 tp full swing is nuts aswell, its definitly a decent weapon but if you dont need the mp from spirit taker a great sword will probably beat it on damage just because of spinning slash

gomene on the proc rate. - I can redo it if you care but since you didn't bother to read the original question I was answering I doubt it. regardless the answer for the situation posed is the same, it's just a matter of margins.
