Is there a better mob than Steelshells to cap Shield on? I'm at 270 and they keep popping Decent Challenge, aside from the fact that there are 5+ people on them at all times lately. Korrigans rarely pop EM as well, so I'm trying to find some sort of MNK mob that pops 75-76 often.

Anyone ever tanked Ixion with NIN or RDM? We only ever use PLD and I only ever see other people using PLD, would be damn hard but nice to see done.

I think we used NIN/DRK + PLD/NIN once a long time ago and did ok. I'm pretty sure RDM/NIN or NIN/DRK can pull it off, but I'm equally sure that it'd be a damn sight more dangerous than using PLD.

I was thinking the same, I'm sure RDM could do it, I personally haven't fought Ixion but it's my understanding that if he catches you with your pants down he could easily 1-shot a RDM, one of those things you just may want PLD for safety.

I tanked Ixion on both NIN/DRK and PLD, as long as you can dodge WSs(protip: drop the Dusk gloves if you use them) it should work, but PLD is waaaay easier/safer.

The main issue, I think, would be the potential 1-shot from Spear on a NIN or RDM if you run into bad luck with Bind/Gravity/Ichi motion lock/Ixion turning. Kick and Stance can also hurt very badly if spammed. But that's just my opinion based on my numerous experiences as a healer at our Ixion fights, I've personally never tanked it myself.

What kind of damage avatar damage categorized as? Physical? Magical? is there any exception ?

Depends on the ability used, there are both types, and physical attacks are split up into damage types just like weapons depending on avatars, i.e. Garuda's Predator Claws is Slashing, while Titan's Megalith Throw is Blunt iirc. I think most 70 BP's are physical, while most meritted ones are magical, though I'm no SMN so I'm not 100% on that. Normal avatar swings are physical, not sure if those are also split into damage types though.

I think the easiest way to tell is to look at a skillchain chart and see what BP's chain- those should be your physical ones.

how much HP do the prommy ENM bosses have and are there any jobs that can easily solo them? it's a pain to get people together to go on these and it irks me passing up perfectly good shots at some xp and dosh.

I know monk can solo holla enm with boreas cesti. Mnk and blu can also solo vazhl, there's a thread all about that in newbie/standard.

sorry. i should have clarified. i meant the lvl 30 ENM. also, what are the figures on test your mite? i know the NM has an odd habit of teleporting around the arena if you run from him, but he takes a moment to do that, so if you're on the ball, you should be able to stay largely out of range. could cs water2 knock him low enough that bio2 and poison eat the rest of his HP away?

Could anyone point me towards a compiled list of every GP item? Not just the services like ffxiah and ffrecipe that will tell you today's items, but rather one that lists all 8 items for all 7 ranks in each of the 9 guilds.
