Regarding RNG belts, would it be best to use AF2 for TP and Buccaneer's for WS?
When I soloed DNC, at 23-26 (you can probably start here really early, like 19 or 20?) I killed Carrion Crows and Crawlers. Just exit Windy Waters [S] and go to where Port Windy exit would be and you'll see lots of crows and crawlers there (beware of the occasional goblin). After that I moved on to Qufim pond worms, then Rolanberry bees/bats outside of Jeuno.

Is a good link about Scout's vs. Buccaneer's; VZX's conclusion is that you need roughly like 700 RATK for Buccaneer's to be better. I get lost in the math though and the Enmity -4 is not considered in the discussion, I just use Bucc's.
While we're on RNG - can someone explain the whole Fire/Vulcan Staff thing to me? In what situations is it applicable, and why is it better in those situations? (Not a RNG, just curious)
that's the exact thread i was referring to, excellent!
whats their to explain? 8str and 10r.atk is pretty much the best you can get for damage in those slots, i use the staff religiously unless i will be specifically axe melee, kraken melee, or kite style soloing.
Rng/Sam Hasso with Staff gives 5 more Str (13 Str 10 Ratt) and makes it easier to poop out a low hit build doesn't it?
I forget the exact specifics when I looked at it but I remember that depending greatly on if you had Rajas or not(the part about shaving a hit off for RNG), /SAM is mostly for the extra STR while still keeping the defensive abilities of 3E, /WAR is still going to put up the longballs.
Can xolotl pop anytime during night, or just 20:00?
I kinda' already asked this question, but it was in a much more specific regard. Now I'm looking for a broader answer. Even if you disagree with its premise, I'm looking for opinions on the actual question.
For things that don't necessarily hit too hard(a lesser HNM, Dynamis, what have you), which subjob do you think a tanking-RDM would benefit from most?
Paladin offers:
Shield Bash, Sentinel, Shield Mastery, Flash, Defense Bonus II, Cover, Auto-Refresh
Dark Knight offers:
Weapon Bash, Last Resort, Souleater, Stun
It appears as if /PLD would win simply by virtue of the quantity of utilities, but when you consider that both jobs have a "Bash" option, and the 1:2 ratio of hate-snagging JA's, the other fluff doesn't look to spectacular.
And, on a related note, if I were to be /PLD, would full-timing Mac+1/Genbu's Shield for more enmity and access to Shield Mastery be worth giving up -10%DMG from Terra's Staff?
Thanks.
Amazing Gear I'll need leveling up on DRG.
Gear I'll need for DRG@75 that I wouldn't have from BLU or NIN. (And RDM melee omg)

Let me whore my blog really quick for this, because I did a series of posts on how to equip some jobs (DRG and a couple of others) for end-game on the cheap. The post is designed for people new to end-game on that job, On the Cheap #4: Dragoon. It is current through ZNM's. It includes justifications and clarifications for many different items. The only real addition I would make is to also consider Skystrider and Supremacy Earring.
I'm just speculating, but trying to help you out. Anyone that's actually done it, please speak up.
I would think out of those 2, /PLD would probably be better. You get VE spikes just like /DRK but at least Sentinel is good for ohshit moments and you get one more MP/tick refresh. (Not groud breaking, but more than /DRK gives)
I would think that even with Shield Mastery, your low base Shield Skill wouldn't cause Shield to proc that often, I'd like to hear from some RDMs that can confirm or deny this.
Can someone confirm that they made it so if you switch nations you can keep all your delicious OPs? I seem to recall that this was talked about.
