I don't understand the Glory Crown effect, with the "+x Imperial Defense Bonus" idea... can someone explain? I know I have to wear the crown at least when getting sanction, but what are the bonuses?
Or does it just simply increase the sanction effects (higher % of HP or MP for regen, more EXP)... ?
Whenever you lose the AC, the bonuses you get from sanction (exp bonus, the % of HP/MP that regen/refresh kicks in) resets to a lower level once you recover it. As you win consecutive Besieges, those bonuses increase until they reach their maximum after 8 wins. From how I read it, equipping the glory crown treats it as though you'd won one more. So if you only have 5 wins since you got the AC back, equipping the crown will treat it like 6, and correspondingly give you a slightly higher bonus, etc. I can't confirm this since we haven't lost the AC in a long time, though.
As I understand it there's 2 types of Magic Defence. 1 is Magic Defence Bonus and the other is -Magic Damage Taken. I recall reading that there are caps but can't remember exactly. Pretty sure one caps at 50% or something.
What I wanna know is if there are caps what are they, and also in regards to Shell 4 and Shell 5. Which category does Shell fall into under the 2 mentioned and what do they cap at?
Thanks for any info.
Edit: After looking a little bit I found something and want to make sure I'm right. Shell would be applied to MDB, Shell 4 is basically 22% MDB and capped Shell 5 would be just over 27% MDB. Is this right?
Sorry I now realize it's -MDT that caps at 50%, so if going for a Magic Redustion build is it better to stack up on -MDT or MDB? Is there diminishing returns on any of it after a certain point? and at what point is it worth sacrficing a little of one to gain more of another?
-MDT is subtractive (like Haste), so adding more gives increasing returns until it caps at -50%.
MDB is additive, so adding more gives diminishing returns and never caps.
You can calculate your personal magic damage reduction by (100 - total MDT)/(100 + total MDB)
I keep seeing confilicting stuff on the subject of VIT in the cure formula, is the VIT part of cure potency set by the VIT of the caster or the target?
Target from everything I've seen. So it's not something really looked at a lot since you can't control it, unless you're curing yourself, and the effect is minor anyway.
Random question came up @ Tiamat: Why can't Garuda just use her wings and fly up to Tiamat to Pred Claw it?
Answer to that was determined that penguins have wings and can't fly, and hence Garuda must be a penguin. (Though I suppose she could be an ostrich.)
I had believed it was target's as well, though the cure formula description in BGWiki makes it sound like it's the caster's, and it popped in my head from the discussion in post your gear about Ixion Cape for WHM, if it's the caster's then the -VIT means nothing on the cape.

it's a function of the caster's vit based on the information found here. iirc, dance spells are different in that they vary based on the target vit rather than the caster vit.
I had thought in practice it was the target's(I for some reason remember dropping slightly higher cures on SAMs than myself with exact same gear setup), but I never took some time to test it. If anyone has recently confirmed either way I would appreciate it just so I know for my own info, lol.
It does, in ever a slight way. I tested it with the AF hat cause people see the VIT and lol

The only WHM AF stat that is really out of place is the AGI on feet, and then even moreso with 5INT on the +1
definitely caster's VIT, you can easily see the effects using koenig on pld
If Glory Crown added +1 to the capped number, it would be worth carrying any time you are gonna be getting Sanction.
They specifically said it didn't?
Are Amir Boots even worth it? Or inventory -1?
My War is 72 and I had it in storage, but I have dusk feet.
Stick with Dusk til you can get Aurum.
Amir are better than NQ dusk in most situations.
