I'm a hume and I think it's a fashion disaster. It was up on AH less than an hour after I got AF2 hat way back when.

I am so confused, I had always though Epical was Hume, and Suiram was a taru. Little did I know it was actually Epical who was the taru and Suiram who was the Hume.

At least you aren't actually a tarutaru. (And Elite Beret is still awesome you suck)

For some reason though, I have a feeling Epical is talking about wise cap vs elite beret. (Which I totally don't know because I saw him use wise cap the other day)

Evasion or Parrying worth doing for NIN? Not HNM tanking, just general solo, meripo, n' small man stuff like Nyzul/Limbus.

Speaking as a NIN with capped Parrying, I have gotten much better results making mobs miss through evasion.

My set-up for Nyzul Isle is more or less the same for meripo, and it seems like I evade more than I parry, even in a Haubergeon.

yeah id merit evasion because that is what gets checked first, if it missed you already you dont need to parry

True, but I was also wondering beyond that as well. If using the 4 upgrades in the category is really worth it, or if my overall evasion rate against a given mob would be about the same anyway. I'd been planning to do Evasion after Katana, which I finished last night. People I know in game have rather varied opinions on it.

If it's a worthwhile upgrade, then I don't mind using the space. But if it's mostly just a placebo, then I have other stuff I could do as well.

I'm not a fan of evasion tanking for most things. I do have 1 merit in Evasion that was put there when I was leveling NIN, but honestly, I think it is just mainly a placebo. Though I might not be the best judge on combat merit choices.

I merited both parry and evasion (4 to each - both capped too) and 8 to dagger as thief. I like the bonus of having monsters miss even more, and to me it feels like parry occurs at a set percentage, rather than evasion which checks accuracy of monster vs your parry. That statement could be horribly wrong, but there are some monsters, like the captain in 3rd ashu talif bc which is insane to evade, and you actually end up parrying more that fight.

I tried a few search strings but am not coming up with anything. Anybody have a link to the discussion, or remember what type of testing/evidence was used to support this?

Or was I hallucinating and nobody ever said anything like that?

It was worked out the range for a Crit vs Non-Crit WS in set conditions, like lvl 1 mobs with a set TP amount/gear, and then like hundreds of WSes were done.

I myself can say that with certainty that I've never seen a /Sam Steel Cyclone match the same Tp /Thf or 2hred Crit damage, and it's a pretty consistent ass WS.

You'd kind of notice a jump going from like 800-900 on say IT Aura Stats at 100 Tp to 1200 without doubles, but it doesn't happen.

Could try stepping outside to Altepa, though things are pretty spread out. Spiders are 30-34 though.

Can go right outside the safehold for bees and such too.

Get a lot of 1k+ jin (or more) with 11TP return, and a lot of 400-750 jins with 13tp return (not getting hit)

Obviously you want both but am I imagining or does a crits boost your dmg way more than a double attack?

I haven't done this in a looooooong time but I'm assuming you only mean his TP attacks which are not blocked by invincible so cross physical off the list.
