If this has been answered before, just link and point me away:
Currently 71 THF, how do you most THFs setup their macros? My question mostly pertains to the fact that you have potentially three "primary" WS (DE, Evis, Mandalic Stab) and a number of potential situations in which they may be used (SA, TA, SATA, Solo, SA + Mulit-hit + High-Eva mob, SA + Multi-hit + Low-Eva mob, etc.). Is there a more simple way to organize your macros to meet these situations or do most THFs have 6-10 macros for SA, TA, and WSs?
Also, say I use the following macro:
/console exec THF_SoloDE.txt
/ws "Dancing Edge" <t>
Will the gear change be taken into account before the WS fires?
As for the gear swap, not sure. I normally put in a /wait 1 to be safe and just use CTRL+W quickly if I really need the WS launched that second. As for how I set up THF...
I use all 4 of the big WS (DE, SB, Evis, MS) situationally; yes, I even love Shark Bite. I find it outputs very consistent damage on stuff which your accuracy is not comfortably capped on.
I have 3 macro books containing similar macros, the difference in them basically being how much accuracy I have compared to evasion (high/med/low).
SADE, TADE, SATADE, SoloDE, SASB, TASB, SATASB, SAEV, TAEV, SATAEV, SAMS, TAMS, SATAMS.
Logic: DE in my opinion is the only one worth using solo (no Feint on); Shark Bite and Mandalic Stab are both definitely better stacked, and Evis I never like using solo unless Feint is up/accuracy is capped because to make it shine you really need to pack on DEX which often results in accuracy deficits (ironically), depending on gear of course. You could probably do it well with things like Antares Harness or Skadi's Cuirie.
I then have a button at the end which swaps macro book to another set... but this time when Feint is up/accuracy is capped. Obviously in these cases I forsake a lot of the accuracy for pure offensive power. Then, I have a third additional book which only really changes DE and Evis which is when Assassin's Charge is up since there is no longer any point equipping a Brutal Earring due to attack round capping. Fourth additional book is when Feint and Assassin's Charge are up.
SoloSA and soloTA are on the original three books only and do not vary.
This might be a bit long, so I apologize.
The way you have your macro setup is similar to the way FFXI Calculator sets it up, except calculator also swaps back to a gear choice that you pick it to. My default swap back is haste gear. I have separated them out before and kept them together like you have it, and my numbers have always been consistent with what it should be if my gear was equipped before I fired a separate macro. You will, however, sometimes not get all the gear equipped before the WS fires because of lag, but it only seems to happen to me in extremely laggy situations. My macro pallet looks like this as alt/ctrl respectively:
Ni | Ichi | Haste | Tank | ACC | RATT | empty | empty | Asn Armlets+1| Flee
Hide | TA | SA | DE | SB | M(andlic)S(tab)| empty | empty| Feint | Trotters
I have intentionally left Eviseration off of there because after using it exclusively for a couple months after getting my X's Knife, I just was not impressed in the least with any of the results I got and opted to drop it out of my macro pallet completely. I do have it on a separate pallet, but that's more for events when I know I'll need to produce a SC.
As for macros for all situations, I have one macro for each WS in party/solo, for Dynamis (swaps Assassin Armlets for everything other than WS/SA/TA), and one for Assault to swap in Ulthalum's Ring for WS. I have capped dagger merits so I don't really worry about ACC problems with my WS, because if I know there's going to be one, I'll fire off Feint since it's on a two minute timer.
I don't know if that's exactly what you wanted, but I hope it helped. Generally I would say you can settle for one DE , SB, MS macro because you should probably vary them depending on what you're fighting anyway. If you know it's something you're going to be wildly inconsistent on with DE, swap to SB or MS and only use DE when Feint is ready.
I've searched on here and windower forums and can't seem to find an explanation of how to set up a script or whatever people do that hides plugins for screenshots. Can anyone explain it in a simple way cause I don't know how to use bindings or aliases XD
To hide plugins? Windower > Scripts > init.txt > scroll down til you see bind sysrq screenshot png > add hide at the end.
Voila.
iirc that's what I did.
Thanks for the responses Raen and TT, they will help.
I am also always curious how some people place their staple macros. Ichi and Ni have been ALT+1 and ALT+2, respectively, for like four years for me. Even when I level new jobs, if they will one day use Ni regularly (e.g. THF), I will not put anything in ALT+2 even at like level 40.
I always put things in the same format so they become familiar.
CTRL+5/CTRL+6 is Ichi/Ni respectively, ALT3 is always TP set, ALT2 is WS (except on THF) etc.
same, my utsu macro never change place on all my jobs, so when lvling subs, i leave it empty untill i can use. Well, thinking about it, i even write it allready in the CTRL3 when i'm still lvl 1 lol.
How much +eva do Wind Wall and Feather Barrier give?
I always do a few buttons in the same spots, but I stack macros in a way I fell in love with a while back, as an example: /Nin, Macro set 4 Book 1
[Tom][Zerk][Safe][Hands][Tp][Ichi][NPC][Mono][Tonk][Dance]
[none][Ret][Shit][KJsc][RR][Ni][Voke][Vst][none][Hump]
Hitting RR, KJ, or Vst sends me to Macro set 7
[none][Strike][Wcry][WC][Tp2]-(nothing important over here)
[none][none][Steel][KJ][RR][Break][Voke][Vst]-(nada)
Vst is a /recast "Provoke", /ta <stnpc>, 3 non-visible swaps, /macro set 7. Then my visible Enm gear, /ja "Provoke" <lastst> in the set 7 Vst, usually for voking slept links and shit.
WS macros on set 4 swap shit like neck/ring/waist/ear, set 7 has visible swaps + WS.
Tp2 has non-visible TP swaps, /macro set 4.
Tp has visible TP gear.
Nice because it gives me an entire palette to build for my WS gear/abilities only, plus full gear swaps by just holding down R2 and tapping X twice, instead of R2+X > Dpad > R2+X, L2+X > Dpad > R2+X.
I'm back in TP gear by the time the animation finishes and the damage shows, I love it.
Can you increase the rate of success when using Cursna on someone that has been doomed (by say a Tauros)? Like Healing skill etc.?
Quick question. Is it really worth it to get a wind staff /just/ for sneak/invis? I'm thinking no. Only asking because my skill is still very low.
Healing skill has never be proven to do anything for Cursna. Even with capped skill I still miss mine often than not on anything that counts.
And Elemental Seal doesn't work either. I cast Cursna in full Haste gear to lower the recast to it's maximum, I'd use Celerity too if it's up, the only thing you can do is spam it 3 or 4 times and pray it lands.
As for sneak invis ... Wind staff doesn't do shit, duration is still random, skill has nothing to do with it, I'd buy a Skulker Cape to enhance the spells, if my inventory would allow it.
Dream boots +1 help sneak, spectral jig too, which is neat since the sneak/invis always wear together.
I notice when I leave the boots at home, jig usually wears just about when the recast is up, and it never does with the boots on.
Has anyone else been unable to load FFXIclopedia since last Tuesday (January 13th)? It's not anything to do with my browser since IE won't load it either, and turning off my Firewall didn't help. I can get onto the forums, just not the actual wiki itself. I've been browsing it via an anonymity proxy, but it's slow and quite a few pages come up with errors so I want to try to get this fixed if possible.
If it helps, I gather from reading the forums that they updated the front page and some of the site mechanics on the day it stopped working for me, so perhaps that has something to do with it? Perhaps I was IP banned for some (unjustified, as far as I know) reason or by accident? My PC hasn't let me access certain sites since I bought it, but to my knowledge this is the first time it's happened with a site that I could previously access without issue.
Edit: the reason I ask if anyone else has had this problem is because my friend (who lives in another country) also had the site stop working for him on the same day.
I haven't ever done any formal testing. I have stuck on my cleric's pantaloons for example but that would only take me to 291 anyway. I can remove Doom in dynamis but I've never had any luck with removing Doom inflicted by Cthonian ray in Brothers for example. I have removed it from the Minotaur during the mission fight. I'm happy enough to try macroing in max healing skill gear and trying again on Brothers next time I go in on WHM.
I have capped Healing Magic no merits = 276
Nashira Manteel = 5
Cleric's Pantaloons = 15
Healer's Mitts = 15
which = 311
Prelatic Pole would give you +10
Torque +7
Earring +3
Could hit 320+ with a little effort.
is accomplice\calabo enough for th to be placed on a mob? for lets say a manaburn dynamis
