Have jobs that I don't use the Apocalypse Nigh earring for, so I never picked it up. Figuring on leveling BLU next, are any of the earrings useful for that? Which is best?

that depends on the situation. I would say at least 70, and use that if you are in a party with good PLD. Otherwise, I'd stick /nin. It really depends if you have a solid party with a tank that can keep hate. at 60, you'll only have Hasso and Meditate, as Seigan will come at SAM 35, so as they said, you'll be relatively defenseless.

Just looking for a nice blog about BLU itself. Details/Pictures like a Rukenshin/Kaeko style update would be nice. There was this mithra BLU named Pii iirc back in the day as one of the first BLU's to solo imps and what not, would like the link to that and any others that would provide a good read!

Also: Temenos to get BLU/BLM/RDM. Does not have to be just one zone. My jobs in the sig, girlfriend is a BLM or RDM. What areas could we duo with the most chances to get an item chest with the aforementioned items?

Pretty sure that every job has two tier 1 Temenos zones that its AF item can drop from. A friend and I have been doing Beastmen because it's the only one that can drop both my BLU and his BLM items. But I don't think it can drop RDM, so there's no zone will overlap all three you want. BLM's other zone is elementals, and BLU's is the tiger/beetle/whatever one. I think either of those two can drop RDM, since it doesn't drop in Beastmen. Two BLMs can probably do a reasonable amount of farming in any of them, or check out the Low Numbers Limbus thread in Events for more ideas.

As for blogs, I don't know of any comprehensive BLU blog like you are asking about. If you are asking because you are recently 75 and want advice on gear/spells/macros/playstyles, I would just suggest reading the 165 page thread in Advanced Discussion. There's a lot of basic/wrong info early on, and a lot of LD later, but nevertheless by the time you get through it all you'll know basically everything everyone else does.

To beastman temenos it is. Wiki says "Defeating one/all of the beastmen drops all three chests", just to clarify, it's either the first opens vortex, or you need to kill everything?

Assuming BLMx2:
First Floor - Doable.
Second Floor - Eh, MNK wont be hard. The 3 gigas can drop BLM and BLU which would be nice (we just need one of each atm) but the BST worries me. Can be slept I know, maybe -ga3 > sleep method?
Third Floor - Eh, I've soloed these so not too bad I guess, doable.
Fourth Floor - No chance. (Go figure another BLM+BLU item floor)
Fifth - Doable.
Sixth - If able to MGS and just kill the BLM and/or NIN chest droppers, and hope for the lone THF being the vortex opener; doable.
Seventh - Probably doable, but doesnt drop BLU or BLM so not a big deal anyways.

No regards to time above, just pointing out and I'm sure we'll have to take time somewhere.

Not new to BLU at all, mine is actually pretty well equipped and I love the job for all that i can be flexible in doing. Alot of the BLU discussion at first was trouble learning spells, then last I checked alot about the math portion of spell damage and what not. I just like seeing what other BLU's are accomplishing so I could give it a shot, or just something cool I never really knew about.

We just started doing it so I don't have advice on the best floors. It feels like it might be possible to do like, skip 1F > items 2F > skip 3F > kill the middle 3 on 4F with 2-3 BLMs (skip here being 1 mob and port). This is just my preliminary assessment, though.

I would imagine that there should be one or two more floors that drop BLU and just hasn't been discovered yet, so that would make it easier to strategize if that floor also drops BLM. At the very least you should be able to do 2F and either 1F or 3F every time. Or maybe find a 3rd person with a drop from that zone. If you do 2x melee + rdm I think you can probably net an increase in time every floor that you take time from instead of items.

Any way to solo Chameleon Yarn/Charcoal Cotton as NIN/DNC? Are the Aw'euvhi tough to solo? I got one down to like 30% a while ago (but with gimp eva gear and gimp sub) so I'm wondering if it will have changed enough. ( - FFXIAH.com, swapping out various pieces as mobs dictate)

If there's a good guide somewhere what in Apollyon/Temenos is soloable, please post. I'd love to see if I could do WHM and NIN somewhere without a Limbus shell.

You could probably do Chameleon Yarn, but none of the Apollyon zones look NIN soloable to me. I've never had a problem with the Aw'Euvhi, and, could you get a Ungur Boomerang? I can write up a guide or make a Temenos N full video tomorrow if you'd like. Actually, now that I've rethought, Pluto might be soloable NIN/DNC. I can have a try at that tomorrow if you'd like.

I've fought Ungur with like 5 or 6 before (long time ago) and it seemed to face rape, but who knows. Think a NIN/DNC, SMN/WHM, and DRK/whatever could trio him? Also, could I do Temenos East's Fire Elementals for Chameleon Yarn and SE Apollyon for Charcoal Cotton? I think those Metalloid Amoeba's would be easy enough, but I don't know about those Fire Elementals. I'd just go try it myself, but I'd like to save myself 15k and some xp if the response is going to be "You'll get owned."

Edit: I just looked at Ungur on Wiki. Looks doable with those jobs, I'll give it a shot.

YouTube - FFXI NIN Solo Ungur is my Ungur solo video, it's kinda dull though. Temenos North drops both WHM and NIN af+1 items, and east doesn't drop either on the first floor. SE Apollyon doesn't drop WHM until the final floor, but NW only drops WHM not NIN first floor. You would probably have to rotate NE and NW to get both items. I would just base which one that you're going to do on which drop you get from Temenos. NIN/DNC and SMN/WHM can duo, just make sure to keep Hastega up, and don't use TP. If you need time for shadows, have them try and have Predator Claws get it off of you for a second.

Nope!

General rule of thumb: If it doesn't have delay, you can't throw it.

Of course, I wouldn't take the chance of throwing it either way. :3 Knowing SE's incompetence, there's likely a few items in the game that they removed the delay, but still can throw.

You should definitely grab a Magnetic earring if you're gonna level Blu next.

It's a wonderful earring, and even if you plan on leveling a job like PLD or DRG after BLU, it's fairly simple to redo the quest:

You can solo the promyvion climbs on BLU and other jobs, and Apocalypse Nigh has seemingly been nerfed to the point where you almost can't lose. Just put together a pickup party through Whitegate and destroy it. (I recently tossed my Magnetic for an Ethereal when my PLD hit 75)

Does Viator Cape only offer the hMP / hHP +2 in Campaign? Discription is gay for that cape.

Ethereal is good for any job that uses MP and takes damage, not just PLD; I would expect it to be good for BLU solo. I've never seen the point of Magnetic.

Hit 60 on my Sam yesterday, should I go /Thf to xp now that I have Yuki + Sobo?

I don't expect Paladins to keep hate and Nin's are an afterthought, my Sam is pretty well geared (Hauby +1/Kote/PCC/Fuma's/Swift/Rajas etc) I have yet to go /Nin and usually had to hold back with Sobo.

I would think /war or /nin would still be fine for parties arond that lvl. It will help keep you from pulling to much hate at the start of the fights with /nin. /war will help bounce hate if you have a NIN tank. Thats what i have seen in most partys when i tank on pld or nin. I would like to see how you do with /thf as i am lvling SAM as well ^_^ ( lvl58 )
