Quick question, as I couldn't find a clear answer so far, if I want to re-do a (coffer) piece of a particular AF set, do I just need to reset the quest and re-do that particular part?
I have upgraded one piece of a set and never use the other pieces anymore...

When you reset you have to start the entire quest line over at the beginning, so you have to go up past the hands quest before you can get the other coffer pieces.


Q: Trying to put together a Cure IV cheat for PLD, I don't own Morgana's Choker or Ritter Gorget and having a hard time making non-blinking set for 300+...I have BQR and Gigant Mantle, could anyone gimme some tips on other pieces I could use?

Ok, so my friend is trying to update FFXI after an initial installation, and he has 18,000 some odd files to download, and he's let his comp sit for nearly 5 hours to update, and he came back and saw he was only 11% finished.

I know that updates can be slow, but geez. Is this like epic crawl slow? Or should this be what he should expect? Is there any way to make this process not take as long? At this rate it will take DAYS of updating to finish updating.

what is his connection speed? when I do a fresh install from disc it takes a good 5 hours on 2mbit, so if he's on 256k or something...

1) How much dex do you need to cap crit hits on meripo? From what I understand it's 115 for Greater birds and 126 for Mamools? True or False?

2) I'm assuming it's possible to DA again in a ws even though when one has used Warrior's charge as long as it's still under the 8-hits rule?

Ok, let me ask a different question.

He is downloading the patch using files provided through the free trial program. So if that is just a free version of the FFXI release, then obviously there is a tremendous amount of files to download. If he were to buy the 2008 Vana'diel collection, would the files present on those installation discs be updated at the time of that compilation's release? Meaning that if he bought it, he would only have to update files that had been changed since the end of 08 when it was re-released? Or do those game discs just contain the data from their respective releases, so he'd have to download 18 bajillion files anyway?

No, you only need to redo the AF1 weapon quest and then (I believe) flag the AF2 quest to get the coffer pieces. I've gotten coffer AF on a couple of jobs before starting the hands quest, though I believe it is necessary to have started (or completed) *a* hands quest at some point in the past.

War Charge makes the first hit of the WS 100% DA. If you're using Raging Rush or King's Justice, I assume the other two hits can still DA normally.

BQR and Gigant make this pretty easy. For HP on neck, you can use star necklace and promise badge if you don't have ritter/morgana; not quite the same values but it should be enough for a cure 4 (I don't recommend cure 4 spams though, unless you're so busy you can't cast enough cure 3s; it's usually not efficient).

For earrings, you can look into cassie and bloodbead of course, but pigeon, stoic, ethereal, and astral (for negative) are also options. Stoic isn't a very good option, but it should be easier to get than a pigeon. Astral is probably unnecessary but will help you with cure 4 space.

Rings are pretty easy; BQ is probably all you need, though obviously you can try to get a bloodbead which would make a lot of other stuff pointless (that's half your cure 4 right there, add in gigant and you don't need much). With negatives, you could probably get everything from those three pieces. Electrum/astral rings make a good negative option here, and electrums are cheap.

The only negative option on back is Thunderer Mantle's -1%, which probably isn't worth it. Just swap to no-HP. Waist options are pretty terrible too, unless you use RSE belts. Taru gives 60hp, hume/mithra give 45. Not bad. Not much for negative HP, just quick belt that I found.

Okay, so... Get a bloodbead ring, use some negative HP swapping. BQ, BB, Gigant, Cassie is 255. Swap in two electrums and a tiphia sting for another 65. There's 320. Hmm. Need what, 80 more with a hospitaler? Hmm. RSE belt for a hume/mithra 45. Astral earring -25, there's 70. Promise badge is another 10. There's 80. Even easier for a taru; they get 60hp from their rse belt. You'll have to push for a couple more things if you're elvaan, maybe swap neck out to star necklace, swap ammo in to happy egg (1%), use astrals, serket, vivian etc for negative swap on rings. You'll need all of that if you're a galka!

Best HP belt you can get (unless you're taru) is Gold Moogle Belt, +3% HP. It's an event belt so if you don't have it yet you're boned for a few months, but once the event comes back around you'll want to pick one up.

people overvaluing it, mathematically on KI shown to fall behind Hagun and barely above onimaru really, heres link to thread and main math post by haka. so really shouldn't be worth more than 500~1m other than people being stupid and/or tired of hagun.

Since ToAU came out until just a few hours ago, I've had my home point set in Al Zhabi. I accidentally changed my HP to somewhere else and am completely heartbroken from losing it. Has anyone ever had luck convincing a GM to modify their HP?

Don't think you have a hope. I did the exact same thing - was gutted. I kept mine for over a year.

I had Al Zahbi as well, but after enough times of warping and being put into besieged and needing to take the long way around to get to WG every time, it just got old, so I changed it.

Looking for alternate BST camps at 72. Sky was okay, but just felt off with everything having heavy AoEs.
Did K-8 at Mount Zhayolm, but the crawlers were more T's than EMs. (Just need 73 and I'm a-ok).
Preferred solo due to lack of any duo partners at the moment.

Been trying. Usually 1 will go EM, the rest tend to stay T. Side thought, if you've been there, do those eruca's feel more charm resistant than other crawler mobs or did I just get a string of bad luck? I had multiple EMs resist 2-5 charms in a row (The one that resisted 5 ended up killing me D: )
