Bring a stack. You'll usually only use 3-4, but they can be paralyzed and sometimes it's spammier with bad breath than others.. last thing you want is to run out and die because you're cheap.

They're just weak to magic in general. Though tbh I would have put the average "good" drain at 400+. My max on these is somewhere around 530 with a 304 dark skill build (though I rarely have that few hp). Most usually my drains do 6-8% of their life with this build with the occasional 9% on darksdays (using %'s because that's easier to see than guessing how much actual damage that is).

I have base skill + nashira/merciful/sorc gloves/dark torque/tonban and I regular pull off the last 6-10% of a pudding with drain but I didn't have a feel for what I could manage on these because as you said, we rarely get hurt enough. On most other mobs though I wouldn't expect to see anything like 400 except on darksday/dynamis/appollyon.

It's been a while for me now, but I do seem to recall having to touch them for a cutscene in CoP.

The ebon panels are in both The Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi and The Garden of Ru'Hmet, only the latter are used in the missions.

there are more ebon panels than CoP uses. at the top of the 5 racial towers in the garden there are 5 ebon panels, one on each 4th floor. these are used to recover your racial light that was taken when you first landed in sea. there are however, several more ebon panels in the palace (iirc, there are 5 since it makes a star shape but idk for sure, check a map.) that have no known use any more than the green porters of sky did until recent times. their lack of use despite existing lead to myriad theories about what they were for because many trolls could not handle the idea that they just DO NOTHING. hence since we were out of ideas on av, every third twerp who thinks he's a genius trolls on the forums blathering about how to use the 5 ebon panels to summon captain planet and his kclub drk to kill AV. so many people kept asking despite it having been answered about 50,000 times, it's become somewhat of a bg meme to call an ungrounded, already tested, or totally outlandish theory an "ebon panel" theory.
