Added damage from offhand Sirocco Kukri on most enemies makes Dual Wield not suck for Thief. If you don't have a good offhand weapon though, and you're not going to get hit, you have no reason to use Ninja as your subjob. Other alternatives being Warrior for Berserk and Double Attack, Dragoon for Haste and Accuracy Bonus, and Samurai for Meditate and Store TP. In some obscure situations, you may even get more use out of Scholar for healing and removing status effects, Bard or Corsair to add extra enhancements to the group, and even Summoner for mitigating damage from area attacks like 10,000 Needles or Discoid. Don't be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to subjob selection!
very excellent information about the off hand damage...didnt really think about it in that light
yeah a big reason is that im just kinda tired of always /NIN...wanna try something new w/o being gimped (im lvl 50 atm)....X's knife and sirocco both look very hax
Brutal/Hollow. Brutal/Minuet if you don't have Hollow, Brutal/Fowling if you don't have Hollow and aren't getting Minuet.
Its autoregen isn't going to matter in a zerg. 60,000 HP sounds fine. You don't need any DRK, let alone a kraken one. Suggestions: SAM, DRG, MNK, WAR. They have excellent two-hours. I get good results with Mighty Strikes/Fortitude Axe/Brave Grip/20% gear haste/fulltime hasso just spamming WS button myself as long as I'm not the top parse. Deadly Hold will kill a berserked melee in one blow. What I do is seigan > third eye > hasso > zerg starts, and then I simply do seigan/third eye when my first eye disappears. What's Kirin's defense/auto-regen per tic? I'm building an argument to convince my LS that Kirin zerging doesn't need 5 kraken DRKs. I'm currently guesstimating Kirin's stats as level 92, Defense 420, and evasion 380. Finally, is the figure of 60,000 HP from FFXIclopedia accurate?
Vampiric claws vs Formless stikes (lv 1) on blunt resistant mobs
Need to be more specific (and answer a few questions):
1. Which blunt resistant mobs? They have different reduction amounts.
2. What % of your damage is auto-attack damage, and what % is other things that won't be helped by Slashing h2h?
3. What are you comparing Vampiric to, Destroyers?
Destroyers v. Vampiric is a 23.25% increase in damage, not counting critical hits (yet). Not-blunt damage gives +x% damage depending on mob. It seems easy now, but what I need to know to answer that question is what Formless Strikes exactly does to penalize damage. Is it -attack, -DMG, a direct -PDIF, -damage/hit, -damage%/hit..? I'll do the math for you if you provide answers, but otherwise someone else has to provide anecdotal (lol) evidence for one or the other.
Stop asking hard questions.
Edit: I also forgot that vampiric's WS aren't going to benefit from not-blunt damage bonus. Ugh. HARD QUESTION
Blunt resistant...really depends which mob. Toads you go from -12% to +12% with slashing, Ghosts are from -50 to -25, etc.
Formless, from what I found on BG wiki, is -60% damage done. And I'd like to see your math on the Destroyers vs Vampiric.
And again, also depends what % of your damage is auto-swing.
Mainly mobs like slimes or anything with the larger reductions. -12% from Jnuns and w/e i don't mind much. And I'm thinking either destroyers or faiths for formless. Mainly speaking for Nyzul and the first floor of that one appolyon
Why sometimes I get 1 more extra tp on Guillotine? Like 16tp = normal tp return on 4 hits, 17tp = DA but sometimes I get 18tp return and the damage really spike up. Edit: This is as drk/nin with tred scythe.
Multiple DA procs?
I was thinking maybe Brutal Earrings proc with Pole Grip but I'm not 100% sure. Only 2 gears that have DA that I use as drk/nin.
Bit late, but Marble bed is the white blocky thing halfway down this page:

As per wheter it looks good or not that's down to personal tastes, I guess if you're Tony Montana it's cool?
They don't proc separately like that. While it would be rare, you could multiple DA procs with just 1% da rly. At least I think so.
-60% damage reduction? Ugh I might do it tomorrow, it's 1 AM and I'm going to bed soon. Basically you're looking at something like:
Destroyers*.4 = Vampiric(Mob damage penalty from slashing + 23%)(TP/WS ratio) + Vampiric(Mob damage penalty from blunt)(1-(TP/WS ratio)) if I'm not mistaken. 'Destroyers' is total damage done by Destroyers in a set period of time against neutral mobs, and the same goes for 'Vampiric'. Of course, you'd first need to pick apart those two, but then you're looking at another unknown: PDIF.
Gate stays open for 30 min. I did the savage blade NM for a friend and we had 3 people. Since some one put down red we had our 3rd stand at the gate for when we walked back. We walked from the farthest switch to the gate, killed the NM, and then had the gate close on us ~30 min after we poped the last switch.
DA checks for every hit in a WS, with a cap of 2 DA's per WS.
If you have only 7% DA, then it isn't common, but you will from time to time see 2 DA's in a WS.
Don't forget TP has a tenths that is tracked.
War/Sam with Rajas/Brutal I would go 18% for 3 hit RR, 20% 4 hit, 21% 5 hit, because a 3 hit was like 18.9% or some shit.
I've NEVER done Kirin with a kclub Drk.
Throw 5 decent Sam/Drk/Drg/Mnk/Wars at it, and 5 of any DD's, +whatever and the 3 Brds and he WILL die if he doesn't drop the 5 top DD's in the first few seconds.
Only seen one wipe that wasn't due to a horrifying searing light early in the fight, and I've zerged like 40+ Kirins (1~2 per Sunday, every Sunday, for like 9 months?) that way.
With 10 DD's, everyone has to do 5500 Dmg, I've done over 4000 in two Steel Cyclones (and then he did 2000+ Dmg with a Deadly Hold) so it isn't hard.
The hardest part of zerging Kirin is the teleporter.
