What is the best use of a Shadow Mantle or Shadow Ring?

The reason I'm asking is that we're going to take a shot at DL soon. I'm not expecting miracles first time but I'm hoping we will beat him eventually and I need to worry about Shadow drops.

We have an idea who are our best attending/highest points/most loyal members with tank jobs etc and my current assumption is that the mantle at least should be prioritised for tanks. I can see an argument for all sorts of peeps getting the ring but again should I be thinking tanks first?

We don't have any notable RDM tanks so right now I'm looking at PLDs and NINs. Most of the peeps with these jobs also have WAR.

Mantle I argue if any sam, or mnk[maybe some other DD too] in ls that do salvage would get the most use assuming they DD/tank in salvage, besides salvage people pld+rdm[except -12% on umbra avg more during night], since nin nor wars tank alot nowdays, I know I'd be annoyed at war+nin get lots over sam/mnk for no reason, and pld it's better than boxers I think but some seem to disagree.

If you're doing job priority for Shadow items, definitely PLD first, all other DDs second.

Mantle is definately an underrated piece, its great for idle (situationally) and ichi/ni casting.

hi - I'm gearing up for my DRK Maat fight.
Going to use a stoneskin torque to spare my taru hitpoints some dmg taken.
But then I realized I wasn't 100% sure if it wouldn't just be wasted right at the start when I Souleater > Last Restort > Guillotine.

So does Souleater eat up stoneskin?? thanks

Yes, Souleater eats up Stoneskin.

I was able to beat DRK maat like this: Sleep TP, Souleater, Last Resort, Guillotine, Hi-Elixir, iccy Wing, Guillitone (~10-12 seconds). but I'm Elvaan.. I dunno if Taru hp will be too low to pull this off.
I borrowed a blink torque, that one is more important than Stoneskin.

Yes. I used to abuse it years ago by SE > Vorpal Blading things when I was bored Rdm/Drk in Dynamis. Actually, I may do that next Dyna -Valk for giggles.

Caps haste, only 3 acc. away from capping that with merits, keeps 6 hit (though I'm tempted to dump it because Soboro so often leaves you with more than 100%, and could switch out claymore/pixie for spear/brutal, FFXIGEAR.com which gets two more acc. from the dex)

Mainly I wonder how much crit. hit rate you lose by getting rid of the 3 dex on spear strap and putting in claymore, or if Pole's 2% DA will outperform the claymore or spear.

the basic problem w/ sams and crit is that we dont attack enough for it to matter, once 6hits are done, regarless, our ws still takes on the higher dmg. its a great setup but serves no real purpose (even with soboro) other than to crit often. it can't pump up enough dmg and outdeal hagun 6hit is the main problem because none of sams ws can be ehanced by crit+%

i would say iota ring, and the claymore will out preform pole grip outside of ws, but once you do ws the pole grip and brutal earring shine.

*edit: maybe askar manapolas add in also has +5 dex drops you 2% haste tho

Shadow mantle is pretty epic for ballista. Had a war 2hr war charge raging rush me for 0 dmg ^.^

Does onimaru latent work during WS that would leave you over 100tp, like 2hr or sekkanoki? I would assume it doesn't, but I can't find any real data/test on it.

My highest on it is 800 atm...but i think that is a critical, if it is useful for high def mobs there is promise, but can anyone confirm any high damage on these said mobs? MNK can't possibly be shafted on even a New WS...
