The sword may not allow you to spam TP for atonement. But the reason you are want to is to build CE.
The haute effective slows the rate you lose CE (as you take less damage). It also may allow the LS to get away with less healing power in the tank party, which could free up slots for other jobs.
A PLDs job is to take the hits and just laugh when other jobs would have been 1 shot other jobs... haute makes you 7% better at that. (we all know PLD/NIN will still have to blood tank for periods when shadows are down and its all going tits up)
That's ignoring the acc and divine skill.
PLD can't afford to be idling in acc gear to build tp, so a joytoy would just whiff 1-2 times. Haute improves your chance of hitting whatever you are tanking, its a tiny plus, but this game is all about tiny improvements.
The divine skill will give you a marginally lower chance of interruption and a greater possibility of landing flash. Which can't be a bad thing.
Anything you can melee on with a joyeuse you are going to make up the difference in CE from melee hits easily. I already said it had uses, but in any situation where you can melee joyeuse is going to be better.
Pld can afford to idle in some acc gear, there is no point idling in enmity rings/earrings/back. Plds have A+ skill in sword and access to a large amount of accuracy through homam and other pieces, not to mention they can eat sushi.
I'm not sure if you are stuck in 2005 but its not a plds job to take hits and laugh, its a lot more than that and other jobs can do it just as well ( from a purely defensive point rdm is superior).
There's a reason Haub is a viable tanking piece on at least some stuff now. Homam x3, Hauby, ACC rings, PCC... if you've done something lots of time before and you feel confident in macro-mashing (micro-management) you can pretty much guess when you have to swap in shield gear or MDT gear. Enmity/haste gear is a given (JAs, enmity+haste on flash, haste on shadows). Idling in quite some ACC (and haste) allows you to spam atonement that much faster.
hauteclaire is the best choice under 1 circumstance i can think of. supertanking. if you're trying to supertank 5 mobs, shadows are going to be of limited use as they get stripped fast, but you won't be meleeing. for that situation a full turtle build is called for (hence the /blu in many cases for cocoon) for which hauteclaire would be an invaluable resource. outside that though, it's very limited. maybe if you're trying to eat a 100 fists from a mob w/o a lot of support or something insane like that, but that's really grasping at straws imo.
i suppose it would be possible to macro it in on a target you're not meleeing as standing gear since you don't really lose much TP, but still that too has limited uses.
So basically it's a 20 million gil toy?
My DRK is level 52 (put it to the side to go back to RDM a while back), so far I've been using Greatswords mostly and skilling up Scythe slowly on the side (although it's still way behind). My understanding is 60+ using greatsword in XP is 'gimp' because Guillotine destroys Sickle Moon so hard.
Is this basically correct?
Yes, although the best WS you can use till 55 is Sturmwind, then you could switch to Axes for Rampage and finally using Scythe at 60.
Any reason other than looks/packrattery to keep 3 nation flags after you have Imperial Standard?
What happened to Wopa? Last ffxiah history says no transactions for 2 months. It's been like 3 months since Stan's Yoichi, I'm always surprised there's no Stan Liberator or whatnot in the relic thread.
Anything you don't melee and is actually able to kill a good tank with good support mages would be best for haute. For non-dangerous stuff (pretty much everything except PW and AV) Macuahuitl +1 would be good for the first few mins of any fight where you don't melee but after that it becomes pretty pointless so you could swap to haute then (tiamat is only real case I can think of for this).
Wopa started a new char with the LS bank. showed a ss of him after the 22nd with like 250m and his sig said he had all the currency, but not clears, paper, and frag for Aegis on the new char. From the banning threads it looked like stan just got a slap on the wrist, no ban at all. I just figured after restarting, Wopa wouldn't get this far and just stop.
Second character was apparently banned as well. Heard various versions of the hows n' whys, but suffice to say that his LS is no more. Some of the members started a new shell doing much the same type of stuff, some other ex members/officers transferred to Caitsith.
If wop is still playing, he's keeping a lower profile. His sister's account is still active, so who knows.
Satchel + billing questions:
I have 2/5 characters activated and 1/5 of them have some of the gobbie bag quests completed.
1. Just want to confirm: satchel size will grow even I deactivated token immediately after getting satcher. Is this correct?
2. I want to activate my 3 other content ID for their satchel, assuming token received before the end of the month. If I decided not to play next month (deactivating content ID before May 1st), will I only be billed $3 next month (for 3 extra characters) or $12.95+$4?
Sure this is here somewhere but where is the best place to skill up 232+ at? Prefer an area that allows NPC. Thanks~
Thanks!
Anyone know what the Ranged Attack bonus is for the Supremacy Earring set?
I'm curious how much I'd be losing by going with Nagioyomi vs. Flame Staff for a situational SAM/RNG build; it'd be nice to have a main weapon that benefits ranged attacks without being completely useless in its own right.
Assumed to be 6 Ratt isn't it? Earring/Weapon gives 10 Att, but 4 from Str I think.
