I apologize ahead of time for this question being a little long winded.

Basically I'm having trouble with my smn AF weapon fight. The question is; how do I go about completing the fight for said weapon when I accidentally dropped the item needed to enter the arena? I had dropped the item years ago and given up trying to recover it for some time until just recently.

The roadblock is that I can't re-obtain the item (earth pendulum) from the NPC or reset the quest to start over. Instead the Taru offers me the key item for the titan fight since that is his other function.

I tried several troubleshooting solutions such as hitching a ride with another smn through the fight, as well as completing the titan fight and then talking to the taru again to no avail. I can't use the NPC in Jeuno to reset the quest because he only lets you do that after you have completed the quest line from start to finish.

I made sure I was on my smn for each CS and also checked to make sure that I had the quest active in my log.

I also contacted several GMs and basically the response I got was that I'm SoL, and to check the community websites, blah, blah, blah. My most recent conversation with a GM on this matter is below. I was prepared to use my 1 item recovery thing, but since I had dropped the item years ago that was not possible either.

I definitely screwed myself for waiting this long to try and fix this situation. Anyone know of any possible solutions?

Talk to Koru-Moru at E-7 in Windurst Walls. My best guess is you finished it and never got last cutscene. I'm bored though and my mule has 75 smn with no AF, so i'm going to go flag quest and toss item just to see if npc will give me a new one :X

Edit: Second best guess is that you're talking to the wrong NPC, since I just wikied the quest to do it myself and it says Ildy-Goldy gives the item not Juroro(Titan NPC).

Edit2: Didn't realize Ildy-Goldy isn't an actual NPC, going with the first thing I said for my final answer based on:

I am currently preparing a list of gear that I plan to get when all my jobs are finished to 75. I am a BRD main, a COR/THF/BLU/RNG/BLM second, so I am no expert at the heavier Damage jobs (in this case DRK and SAM), and plan to rarely play them, but would still like to have gear available in case it is needed. So my questions are...

What Scythe should I be getting for DRK? I am currently looking at Perdu.

What is the next best GKT for SAM below Hagun? (I can't pay 2.5-3M for something I will rarely, if ever use) I am currently looking at Onimaru.

...and last,

Would Askar Korazin be a viable body choice for either of these jobs for things such as Salvage/Limbus/Dynamis?

Tredecim Scythe and Perdu are both decent weapon choices.

Onimaru is probably the next best weapon for SAM below hagun if you wont be using the job often if you can stomach equipping it when Hagun is so much better

As for Askar, Nq haub will do you more good on both jobs unless you are solely going for 6hit on SAM and dont have rajas, i see no benefit to wearing Askar on DRK at all tbh over a haub when they are so cheap these days.

Looking to solo Lord of Onzozo on thf (maybe blu). Right now I have a measly 48 water resist. (68 on blu) (since Waterga III can't be interrupted and I don't want to slow down the kill by mainhanding a sword and storing TP for flat blade)

Any assistance appreciated. General tips as well. I got LoO down to 30%-ish solo on blu, 50%-ish on thf, both with 2 NPC charges.

If you have access to PLD, SMN, or RDM/NIN all can solo pretty comfortably. Otherwise, you're pretty SOL.. you need at least 120-150 resistance for it to be noticable on anything above your level. I'd say 200-220 would be good to reliably resist waterga, but obviously that's far out of the realm of possibility solo.

Scythe for DRK depends on the situation. Perdu, Tred and Moli are the end game choices.
I think for Merit type mobs with good gear, Tred + Moli are likely slightly ahead of Perdu (only due to being in a high attack situation). The Accuracy bonus is nice but Tred delay / crit and Moli's bonus STR is likely more useful. Either way they parse pretty close.
For end game types, the extra attack on Perdu may become more important (not necessarily getting as much attack and higher level mobs). Your sub may also not be /sam so the easier 6-hit may also matter less.

Askar body is only better if your acc is basically capped without Haub.. so if you're capped go ahead.

We got PLD body drop in Xarca the other day. The member who was supposed to get it got a little nervous and passed when trying to lot. We had her log out and try again just in case, but after she came back, as we feared she could neither lot nor pass.

My question is would she have been able to lot if she had dropped her sandclock and re-entered the zone?

Pretty sure it still keeps the lot in Dynamis regardless of zoning in and out or logging, it's not like normal pools.

Dynamis Lots are permanent as far as I know. I think Einherjar abides by the same rule.

Zoning/Logging etc. will not reset them.

Is there any software that will help the FPS in FFXI? I have a fairly new Laptop and you'd think it'd be able to run better than like 9 FPS in whitegate, but nope. Barring software, any cheap hardware that'd work in an HP uh..G50?

i meant you completed the quest years ago and never got the last cs in windy, have my doubts it decided to skip cs on you out of nowhere seeing as most of the flags in ffxi are done during cutscenes themselves.. but regardless grats

you can use it til then if you want, at 60 for /thf otherwise soboro for other subs.

/THF is not good at all in exp since it's just burn-parties now. Honestly I start burnparties (BRD and/or COR, RDM, melee x3/4) at Jungles, weak to piercing and 5 min pops are awesome. Then East Ronf_S, then Lessers, then whatever other camps ToAU has. /THF has no place. Soboro is fine. Polearm is better.

Better / more uptodate drivers. Sometimes the most recent driver isn't always the best tho. Try a few out. Uhh running windower instead of windowed mode (more processor efficient). Make sure your laptop's using full processor (sometimes they're set not to in order to save power). Other than that, lower gfx.

And also Whitegate FPS generally sucks, don't worry about that worry about battle FPS.
