    Re: Randomer Question Thread

Magic Damage -% is set differently than Magic Defense Bonus.

Magic Damage Reduction -% caps @ 50%, correct, but if you are in an LS that does wyrms, b2, etc, WHMs should have capped shell5. You technically only need -25% to hit the cap of -50%. MDB surpasses it.

    The difference is the returns:

The higher your -% is the more you will notice, while the higher you get in MDB+, the more you need to add in for a noticable difference.

    Re: Randomer Question Thread

I have some questions for users of SAM/RNG.

    Question setup:

I have had accuracy issues with Sidewinder at the Greater Colibri camp for the longest time, even with sushi. I found out recently that sometimes my ranged acc equipment macro wasn't putting one of my Merman's rings on, which I'm sure plays a role. I did recently acquire a Seiryu's Kote, so here's hoping that will mitigate my accuracy issue and boost my damage output a bit.

    Actual questions:

    1) Does TP play such a large role in Sidewinder accuracy that I will always want to save to at least 150TP before I Sidewinder, or can I reach a point where I can reliably hit 80%+ of my Sidewinders at 100TP?

    2) Does waiting until 150TP actually do anything other than a placebo effect of increased Sidewinder accuracy?

    3) Also, would it be worth the ranged acc and base damage loss to trade out my Shigeto Bow for a Martial Bow so I can spam Sidewinders more reliably and more often at 100TP?

    EDIT: One more question:
    4) Can anyone point me to a parser that will count Weaponskill accuracy? DVSParse never did if I recall correctly.

Why does the value for fSTR vary? What part of the equation is indeterminate? Or is it because of rounding?

Do salvage sets need entire set to gain a bonus or is there a bonus with only partial amounts of pieces? I ask this because I heard the WOTG armor has partial bonuses for having some equipped

salvage, assault, and nyzul sets require the full set before you gain the bonuses. note that some of the assault sets are fewer than 5 pieces.

conceivably, SE could make a 16 piece set someday. (they've already made 2 piece sets)

    Para2 vs Para1.

Does para2 has higher proc rate? or it just grants you higher macc to allow you to pump mnd into it?

Go all out +rng acc for sidewinder, at least +70(ya that much), also this is what loldomaru's good for.

    2) Does waiting until 150TP actually do anything other than a placebo effect of increased Sidewinder accuracy? Yes, but I'd rather spam @100s

    3) Also, would it be worth the ranged acc and base damage loss to trade out my Shigeto Bow for a Martial Bow so I can spam Sidewinders more reliably and more often at 100TP? No

Do you also bring like 2-3 stacks of sushi with you to colibri? :D

Also: Amir Dirs or Hachiman Hakama for Sidewinder?

I haven't really noticed much difference between my level 1 Paralyze II, and regular strength Paralyze. I stack the same amount of MND for both and, while the proc rates are random for Paralyze spells anyway, I don't see a difference at all for the mobs that I cast them on (especially Salvage chariots). People have said you need level 3 Paralyze II to see a difference, but personally speaking I like my level 3 Slow II and level 2 Phalanx II (which comes in very handy in the early levels of Salvage). Might just end up dropping Paralyze II altogether and maxing out Phalanx II

yup I used to eat up 3-4 stacks of sushi/merit session which is why I stopped using /rng on collibri because it's heavy on my wallet, polearm is better anyway.

I'd use Hachiman hakama for sidewinder, but if you have the money dusk leg is always better

Yes, Hachiman Hakama, but honestly, SAM/RNG is always going to be a struggle. It has its places but it is just not what it was prior to the RNG nerf.

I went on the SAM/RNG kick a while ago, but I realized that leveling RNG would just be more efficient for damage, accuracy and mog house space.

Any help with my fSTR question? The value for dSTR is only approximate, and that makes the value of fSTR variable, or at least the amount you need to get another point of fSTR variable. I just don't understand why.

I have Lv. 2 Para II, and while it isn't as strong as I'd like, it is noticeably better than Para I, and more accurate. I might be dropping my Blind II to bump up Slow II to level 2, but I agree that Lv. 2 Phalanx II is nice and I don't want to drop that to boost the debuffs at this time.

    Nope.

And to answer my own question from a couple of pages back, it seems there is indeed a cap to your blist, at least on 360. I think it's at 100, but I can't blist any more people as of last night. This is completely unfair, there are far too many fucktards out there to make do with only 100 blist spots, I'm going to petition S-E for more.

ringthree: to the best of our knowledge now, it isn't actually variable (although we aren't 100% on this)

the approximation for FSTR2 is some formula - divided by a constant (2). the approximation for FSTR is some formula - also divided by a constant (another 2).

so if the equation is linear (at least the 'dstr' part actually be STR-VIT with no hidden multipliers) then the amount you need to increase FSTR by 1 is always 4.

of course, no one is 100% on the fstr formula (the approximations are a little messy) the 4~6 estimates were made before the formula was very well understood and have continued to be grandfathered into the information.

This is something that has started to catch my fascination recently. With Samurai's 240 skill unmerited, that is about 48 attack and accuracy short of my fully merited Great Katana, so does the +25% damage boost on normal hits and weaponskills exceed the kind of damage you can get with a Great Katana? Or would I need max out my merits before I saw Polearm pull ahead of my GK damage?

    To Samurai Polearm users:
What is your Polearm(s) of choice?
What is your gear of choice (5-hit setups, anyone)?

just saying: 48 accuracy is a 24% accuracy loss by itself, which even with previously perfect (95% accuracy) is a dot loss of ~26%

I don't feel like doing a full comparison of the damage/delay or expected ws rates though, so I'm not going to come out and say that polearm is worse: just that, without other significant factors in its favor it will not be better.

Ok, perfect, that is getting closer to what I want to know. Next question, how would one go about testing this to see if it is consistent?

Another related question: Would the full equation for a normal melee attack (assuming that the approximations are true and you are in a high STR situaton) look like this: ((dSTR+4)/2)/2)?

What makes MNK a better tank for chariots opposed to NINs? H2H is better damage rather than katanas?
