I have a couple friends that need Joy toys, one of whom has COR at 54 who could give me ( FFXIGEAR.com , Fourth Division Schoss during daytime, with Turban/Dusk hands/feet/B.haidate for Utsu recast ) and Ninja and Hunter's rolls. I merited evasion skill a long time ago (and don't really need the merits anywhere else). I think I could get somebody to haste me, and yes, I know my eva gear needs some work (I prefer Mamu+1's over Shira/Onino but don't have either and don't plan on joining a sky/znm shell, and I wonder how well Aquan Killer will work out against Ungur (which I still haven't got ; ; )).
1. Is it enough as is with Ninja/Hunter's/Haste to tank Charybdis?
2. If not, how much more eva would I need?
3. Will Ice/Earth Shots enhance paralyze/slow from Ninjutsu? Wiki makes it sound like only mp based enfeebling magic will work.
4. Does he pretty much DA/TA/etc. every round?
I've duoed it with NIN + COR plenty of times, both were 75 though. Many people, myself included have soloed it on NIN/DNC, that's not 100% reliable though.
That setup is fine. Consider Bomb Queen/Rajas/Jelly rings if you have them. Cross attack can one shot and most damage is done by tp.2. If not, how much more eva would I need?
Maybe. For what it's worth, earth shot originally doubled elegy to 104% slow, but was later nerfed. You could look at it as an example of it working on non-mp based enfeebles or assume the nerf effected all non-mp based enfeebles, don't know of any tests with ninjutsu. I just used damage cards. Also, Jubaku casttime and procrate both blow pretty hard. I only used it for my solo, never for duo(or bigger group).3. Will Ice/Earth Shots enhance paralyze/slow from Ninjutsu? Random number of attacks from 1 to 6, seems to be an even distribution. Even with no debuffs, you can ichi between attack rounds though. I just recast if I have one shadow or no shadows, leave it as is if I have 2 or more. A 6 hit proc followed by tentacle or cross attack from the tp given will kill pretty much anyone, it's just bad luck and doesn't happen that often though.4. For what? Not trying to be obnoxious but it depends what you're doing. Make sure you keep your elemental/enfeebling/dark skills capped. Besieged is great for levelling dark magic.
8/8 Elemental skill merits will help a lot, you can focus on other gear then. You will need a skill/int set for things like sky gods but in limbus you'll be fine with a basic all round set.
If you don't already have the gear (apologies if its in your sig, I don't see them) then the only MAB I'd worry about initially would be Moldavite earring and hands.
One of the most useful upgrades you could go with for any mage is HQ staves. If in doubt, get Jupiter/Aquilo/Pluto in some order first.
Basic gear for a newly 75 BLM:
Staves (HQ if poss)
Bugard Strap +1
AF hat
Igqira weskit
Goliard Cuffs/Z mitts/Yigit hands/ Vicious Mufflers
Errant/Mahatma slops
Goliard/Yigit/Rostrum feet
P rope/RSE rope
Rainbow/Prism Cape
Moldy earring + int earring?
Elemental Torque
Phantom Tathlum
INT rings (Tamas/Snow etc)
There are a lot of upgrades to this stuff.
If you're looking at the Cobra set on the way up, the only piece I'd consider is the feet.
Can anyone inform me of the quantity of the relic belt/back monsters that are spawned at the start of CoP dynas? It has been a long time since I've been in a CoP dyna zone, and our shell is looking to farm them, but do not have enough to reliably take down the boss in my opinion. Judging from the maps on wiki there appear to be no mobs up at all prior to the mega boss dying. Is this true, or are there mobs up upon entrance and how many roughly?
Thorny pretty much covered it, but just going to touch on the problem you may get with a 54Cor buffing upwards. Since you're 75, all of the Eva+ you receive from his rolls will be given a 54/75 (or 72%) modifier attached to them. Ie: A roll that was going to give you +40 Eva from a 75Cor, will give you +29 Eva from a 54Cor. It won't be very easy, even with the job bonus in effect on Ninja Roll. Hunter's will be affected in the same way, capping out at +38acc from an 11, +29 acc from a Lucky 4, and an average of +23 acc. Your eva set looks good though, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'd definitely recommend eating sushi though, possibly Squid for the extra Agi.
And yes, as far as I know the QD shots still affect potency of Ninjutsu debuffs. Even if they don't, if you have someone there to haste you they may as well cast the White Magic versions of those spells. Whm and Rdm both have enough native enfeebling skill to land with relative ease with AF and Staves (for Whm, it helps to have /SCH as it raises the cap on Enfeeb from 230 to 256). Charby does attack 1-6 times every round, but his delay is also very long. If he wipes your shadows, start casting at the start of his attack round. Even if the animation still shows him hitting you, you won't be interrupted, since that's all run through the server at the start of the round. GL
Valkurm has tons of mobs to farm before boss, you can definitely farm for an hour there. Qufim, you will probably run low since there's only bats, snolls, and rocs, but you could kill some quads and the gobs near the boss/in the behe dom cave for some city AF on the side to fill the time if you ran out. Buburimu has no accessory droppers until boss is dead, but the boss there is pretty easy and can be done with less than an ally as long as you kill the right NMs.
Thanks for the information. In Valkrum, we'd probably skip the cactuar & sheep and do hippo & manticores there for safety reasons. It has just been so long and the map(s) were somewhat misleading. Could you enlighten on buburu please? Like what dragons should I focus on to take down the boss with say a group of 8-12~? Thats roughly about as much of us that go to dyna, since it's a small close-knit shell. It's been about 2yrs~ since I've actually been in these dyna zones, and I would be there with 35 other people. About all I remember of buburu is to bring the megaboss dragon down the sand ramp to avoid mages uptop getting stomped dmg. If can take out buburu boss to farm, it would eliminate the need to go into quifim, which does not sound very good for farming purposes, since our goal is primarily for belts/back pieces.
Wacky, random question. This: FFXIGEAR.com . Potential upgrades/changes for DRK nuking? I left off Sea cape and torque on purpose since the person in question can't realistically get them soon-ish. Looking for mostly AH-able gear, or things that can be low-manned. Elemental Torque is there for MP>50%, but should it be fulltimed given Drk's 256 base ele skill? Note, it'll probably be 8/8 Ele soon-ish so assume 272 base skill.
Yeah, I know, lolDrkNuking. But for funsies, any improvements?
Does a normal fire resist set work for KS99 Wyrm's breaths while in flying mode?
Maybe transferring, get the item, and then calling a GM saying you got hacked, but if that even works, it might get rolled back to a previous point and leave you on the new server without the item.
Only way I know of to give the seller the money and the buyer the item instantly is if you each make a mule on each others server. You give his mule the money, he gives your mule the item, then you each transfer back the mules at your convenience.
Is blue mage good for anything? I don't mean mediocre, I mean, does it excel somewhere another job doesn't?
Some CoP missions and random stuff where Head Butt is valuable, I guess.
Pandemonium Warden?!
