If I'm already War/nin and have to be War/nin for events such as Limbus, Nyzul, ect, is it better to use some kind of DW combo (ME/Joy, Jugg/joy, Organics/joy? No ridill), or to stick with perdu Voulge?
Neither merited.
Limbus is really situational depending on the run you are doing, and your group. The Slashing Immune Crab floor comes to mind. Dual wielding Joyeuse and something piercing would be highly suggested. Other floors are much more forgiving.
For Nyzul, I had a friend rocking WAR/SAM constantly and he never looked back. Things would generally die before they even hit him. He had WAR/NIN available with all of your weapons choices too, and always never used it.
I would love to rock War/sam constantly but my LS is very into subbing Nin.
Edit: Its not just those two events, but just about any non meriting event I do on War I am ninja SJ.
You should carry both. If neither are merited, Dual Wielded axes will provide easier damage and allow you to play more defensively. But there will be situations where feeding TP becomes an issue, or against enemies with higher defense, where a Great Axe, regardless of your subjob, will perform better. For maximum versatility, you may also want to pick up a polearm and a staff or hand-to-hand weapon, especially for Limbus.
I War/Nin all the time... I've NEVER found a situation where I thought "man I wish I had 2 axes" and thus have deliberately left Axe uncapped at 248, not having equipped one since shortly after I hit 70 a few years ago.
If you're worried about surviving, but not damage, why are you on War?
Great axe + War/Nin > Axe/Axe + War/Nin, 20-25~ Acc/Att and non-shit WSes ftw. You can make a case for Axe/Ridill, or Ridill/Joytoy, maybe even Org/Rid, but Axe/Axe?
That is totally backwards btw, Axe/Axe doesn't give easier damage than Great axe, assuming capped/unmerited skills. Simply equipping a GA is like putting on Are's head/feet over your haste head/feet.
Actually, I beat you to it!
Ditto on GA for WAR/Anysub, I don't have a Ridill so I can't speak on that, but I've never been in a situation where I thought "man, my damage sucks, I really wish I had 2 axes right about now".
I do keep Joytoy/Dagger/Clubs around for that Limbus zone, but I don't even own an Axe.
Except, my post was yesterday, and yours is today. I'm not an expert on chronology, but I think I beat you.
How much of a damage increase is senji/perdu over senji/fudo?
Enough to leave no question that you should use S/P if it's available.
D32 Dly 190 5 acc 15 Att (for both hands)
D39 Dly 227 Crit 3% (for that hand)
Swing 37 delay faster, so your higher damage mainhand gets to come around and try to crit again, while landing those hits for more damage, more often... vs slowing your mainhand down by 37 delay so your offhand can hit a bit harder, and try to crit half as often.
Spamming more accurate and higher attack mainhand hits more often > anything but a multi-hitting offhand katana which doesn't exist cause it would be wtfhax.
It's something like a 16% delay reduction just considering Fudo vs Perdu alone, not sure exactly how that translates with DW, but I'd imagine with all of the other benefits it would be more than a 10% increase in damage over time.
Not like I'd be using Fudo over Perdu in offhand given the choice, but I was under the impression that "Crit+x%" only working in that hand was only from the KS weapons. Fudo functions in both hands, no? Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm honestly not sure. I barely ever touch my NIN.
Nope, Crit + on a weapon only applies to the hand it is worn in, with Destroyer's being the exception due to hth functioning effectively as dual wielding them.
6% Crit on your main hand, assuming equal delay for both hands, and a statless offhand weapon will add roughly 3% to your crit rate total, Destroyers count the 6% as between both hands and add 6% total.
Gotcha. Just wanted to double check xD. I never use my Nin, but considering my other jobs it's very likely that Perdu Blade's gonna be my first IS purchase once I get it all back. My IS was wiped clean when I was hacked >.> just used Smn burns to merit a bit after that, so gogo 150k CP but 20k ISP (after a lot of SAM Bird leveling and COR meritting for shits).
