i think it was demonstrated a while ago that macc doesn't directly affect charm, otherwise bahlran's ring would be very nice for charming with. i'd just assumed the light/apollo's boost on charm rate was a hidden effect on it, distinct from the +macc.
What in the world does the Stone Lid in the Altar Room near the Magicite do? I can't find information on it anywhere >.>
Apparently so, I feel stupid. Carry on.
My SAM is closing in on 75, and I'm wondering how important a 6-hit build will be for it. I'm primarily going to be using it for HNM/end-game activities. I already have WAR for meriting, so I'd only take SAM out if I needed to re-cap its buffer.
Assuming same conditions, is there a difference between /logout and /shutdown in terms of hate? My friend is convinced there is, but I've never heard of anything like that.
Well, there is Refresh. People have dismissed full Yigit for a while, but unless I'm missing something, you still have to have nearly the best gear to beat it (at least on BLM) if you're not "doing it wrong" by resting long enough to bring you from empty to full. I made a chart that OpenOffice promptly refused to export properly into HTML, so here it is in PDF:
http://userpages.umbc.edu/~rshaw1/hMP.pdf
If I missed something obvious, please let me know. If I didn't miss something obvious:
You need to rest for 80 seconds (get up and Aspir) for 4 hMP to beat 1 Refresh.
You need to rest for 40 seconds for 5 hMP to beat 1 Refresh.
You need to rest for 30 seconds for 6 hMP to beat 1 Refresh.
You need to rest for only 20 seconds for 7 hMP to beat 1 Refresh, although the Refresh catches back up a second later.
Keep in mind that if a BLM has 7 hMP over Yigit, they have the best hMP gear for those slots that I could find. Goliard head, Mahatma/Oracle's body, Oracle's hands, Yigit/Oracle's legs, Goliard/Avocat/Numerist feet. Certainly, most of those pieces are nice to have for other reasons too. They are not, however, free in specially marked boxes of cereal.
I guess this also means that if you only have a 5 hMP body, and you also have a Refresh body, and you don't have full Yigit, you're better off in the Refresh body unless you're going to rest for at least 40 seconds.
(WHM/BRD/SMN can use Mirror Tiara in addition to Oracle's, so of all the Yigit jobs, they get the best deal at being able to get 8 hMP over it. RDM and BLU can use the tiara, but not Oracle's, and so on. But of course, RDM can rest in AF2 hat.)
Edit: I realize that the columns might be slightly off depending on exactly when you sit down, but really, there's no way to control that. Also, obviously there are some situations (like soloing) where you may well rest for 80 seconds or more. That's fine too.
In practice, all the unnecessary maths can be avoided by keep your Dalmatica/Robe/Black Cloak/Noble's/Ixion Clock/whatever else equipped during the first ~15 seconds of resting and swapping into full hMP before the first tick. The Tickle plugin is useful for that, although it's not completely accurate.
At 1500 points/assault win(generous, obviously leujoaom will be higher because of RVB), you need 14 wins to get a piece of yigit. Multiply that by 5, and you need 70 wins to get your set. At 15 minutes a win average, that's 17.5 hours. Assuming you take 30 plates/hr and turn them in at your convenience for ~70 points each.. you could buy 2 sets of cerb path t3s and be pretty much guaranteed oracles hands/legs(if you get unlucky on drops, trade aurum or enkidus or organics for someone elses oracles!) and have 2 pops ready for sara for body/head.. without losing any limitted resources like assault tags. There's very little excuse to have full yigit nowadays(legs are acceptable for rdm, feet for rdm and blm, body for brd if no manteel).
feet for blm
legs for mage job HMP (rdm cant use oracle -_-zzz)
body for BRD if you dont wanna get a manteel
full set for HMP: gtfo there are better alternatives XD
After resting I wear my AF2 body for the first 15 seconds (giving me 5mp from refresh) then swap to my errant body. I could got for 18 seconds with refresh (6mp), but in laggy areas you may not change in time
This way I get refresh while waiting for the long first 'tic' but also get the +5 on that tic.
Which means from your body slot in you can get:
This will get you +10MP in 20seconds.
Just refresh will get you +6 in 20seconds (+7 @ 21 seconds).
Just hMP +5MP in 20seconds.
Yigit vs other resting options
Fast start = refresh body for the first 4 tics
Slow start = hMP body from the start
Not only is all his math wrong, his math is entirely invalidated by the idea of keeping a refresh body on for 15 seconds, then putting on an hMP body.
Bakthi, I'm not sure why you want to look at that first 20 sec of idle time as part of the resting. Once you realize that it really should be separate, the value of hmp vs refresh doesn't change based on your rest time. Every 10 seconds you get 1 mp per hmp, or 3.3mp per refresh. That's really just a flat value.
I imagine you could have Spellcast do this for you, but if you, say, left that active while you rested MP to go make a sandwich and someone tried to talk to you...I don't know, that seems a bit more obvious than I'm willing to do.
Well, because it is part of the resting. But I accept that putting on a Refresh body for the first 15-18 seconds and then swapping gear means that even 4 hMP over Yigit should be good enough to use instead. I guess there's no sense in figuring things out for people too lazy to do that (I mean hey, it's easy enough to macro), because they'll probably also be too lazy to read/remember it.
What's the best way to do Refresh body->hMP body swap, assuming you are fairly skilled with Spellcast?
I'm gonna fudge with it this weekend, but I'm guessing it'd be like:
If mode is Resting
spellcast var inc hmpswap;wait 15;equip mahatma body; wait 6; equip refresh; wait 5; repeat?
Is there a thread somewhere with a list of "top tier" or most accomplished HNMls for each server? I'm trying to get some information on "who's who" for each server but am having trouble finding anything other then randomly clicking peoples links to their LS website.
Do you need to be on the proper quest step to help with WotG BC fights, specifically "Bonds That Never Die"? Can you not have started the quest line at all and help?
edit: Just found out, the answer is "yes, you need to be on the right quest step." Which sucks.
